The service is great and there's a good variety to choose from. Not just BBQ, but if you go the BBQ route you won't be disappointed. There's a full bar to go with whatever food choice you settle on. It's a nice rustic/western decor to go with the usual feel of eating bbq. Plenty of tvs and seating options. Indoor/outdoor with games (weather permitting). Give it a try. Oh and good people who cater and take care of special events from memorials, to, fundraisers to large gatherings. read more

A few months back I ordered the smoked wings and they were amazing and big! I ordered 6 and I had them for lunch and dinner and it was plenty. So tonight I figured I'd do the same thing and I am way disappointed. These are so tiny. Wish I would have known the change in wings beforehand. read more

Never leave Yelp reviews but this experience needs it. Order Father's Day dinner and got charge for a rack of ribs we did not order. We told the host and she said they can't take it back due to COVID.(understandable) she took down all our information and told us a manager would call us back for a refund. Gave it 5 days and no return call. Finally Called back and got the owner who was so rude and tried to turn the story around that we did not want to pay for the ribs. My family and I had bacon cheeseburgers which were preposterously good. Tender smoky ground beef with a choice of toppings. The bacon is a revelation. No joke, the best bacon I've ever had. The fries, Mac and Cheese, and barbecue sauces were all very good too. Though none of us got barbecue, It did look really good passing by. There aren't a ton of tables inside and it's gonna be busy for a bit. They've got a nice little bar area for adults and nice patio area for summer. The place has only been open for a week or so, which is important to keep in mind if there's a long wait for a seat or there is a glitch with your order. It's a small hole in the wall next to a liquor store that pumps out some pretty good BBQ. Is it on par with what you'd find in Memphis or another big BBQ town? No, but it's pretty decent for the west coast. I always get a to go order when I visit to stick in the fridge for after the concert and it always satisfies after a night of partying and rocking. My only qualm would be that chicken wings are on the menu as an appetizer but not available in the combo. As a wing lover I find this to be a bummer. read more

My buddy and I do a golf weekend in Redmond each year. Last year we ate at the prior Veterans Way location. Tonight at the new location we had ribs, pulled pork, brisket, Mac & Cheese beans and coleslaw. Each menu item was delicious and nicely prepared. We think the new location's food and service exceeds the quality of the prior location. The new location had helped raise a good food and service level to a new level of excellence. The wait for the new location was painful, but the result made the way worthwhile, and very tasty! Way to go Baldy's team, we'll be back next year. read more

Ate at Baldys twice today because the lunch salad I had at the Bend location was fabulous and shared that info with the hubby. Of course he insisted that we try it for dinner so we ate at the Redmond location and had ribs and brisket... which were soooo good! My husband is a BBQ snob and he really enjoyed it.... but on top of that the service was excellent, and I always appreciate that. Dakota was our server and she was outstanding!! We had a similar experience to Ronda. We'd never been to Baldys before. We had a woman waitress who was unbelievably nasty! I've NEVER seen anyone waiting on customers act as rudely as she did!! Her daughter, however, was very, very sweet and made a couple of comments apologizing for her moms being very stressed because she was alone and so busy. She said her mom called her at home and told her to come help her as she was alone. Sorry...NO EXCUSE!! When you talk to customers with the attitude and in the tone she used there are no excuses! If she worked for me she'd have left with her coat immediately!! I feel sorry her daughter has to live with her abruptness and nastiness!! Her stares were cold! Wish I had a snapshot of her to post for you!! We didn't know the menu and were trying to figure out what we could order with no leftovers because we live a couple hours away. When I asked for an idea how "spicy" the chili was I got a smart, snotty remark. She quickly stated "it's printed on the menu!! It says it's spicy!" She just stared at me with her pen on her order pad! I asked if it was as spicy as the spicy hot sauce on our table I had tasted. She curtly said "it's different! It's sweet and spicy!!" Pen still on pad waiting for our order!! When I hesitated, not knowing what that meant and whether I could enjoy the heat she just stormed off hurriedly (literally) into the kitchen, returned to our table and "slapped down" a small chili sample with no comment before or after, and rushed away. Interestingly enough, the chili was VERY close in flavor and heat to the sauce on our table!!! Hmmm! I opened the menu to find something different. She never returned to our table to even ask if the chili was ok or too hot but she waited on two other tables right beside ours. Several minutes later her daughter brought my husbands brisket and my chili. I immediately told her I was sure sorry but it was much too hot for me. I said I'd tried a sample but her mom never returned to take my order! She apologized again for her mom's stressed behavior. Sweet girl! I quickly chose coleslaw and macaroni hoping it was just simple and fast. The daughter kindly left the cornbread so "you'll have something to eat while your husband eats" and took my order straight to the kitchen. About 10 minutes later the cranky, nasty, waitress finally returned and curtly said "what do you want?" I said I'd given my order to the young girl. She snapped and replied "she can't take orders, she doesn't know how to enter them into the computer! I have to do that!" My word!!! Unbelievable!! My husband, who is quiet and thoroughly enjoyed his brisket, was stunned! He commented "she is in the wrong job! She is not someone who can serve customers! Her heart just isn't in it and she can't handle being busy!" We also overheard her curt behavior at the table next to us!! Wow!! We will try Baldy's in Bend and hope for a waitress/waiter who will help create an atmosphere where we can enjoy our meal in peace! Wait staff don't seem to realize how they contribute to your meal! They can ruin it even with great food as she just did!! I NEVER go without leaving a nice tip but I left $0!! I'd hire that young girl any day but that woman is a piece of work!! My wife and I recently moved to Redmond. We were looking for a good BBQ in town and after seeing the reviews we thought Baldy's was going to be the place! We ordered the Extravaganza for $48 so, we could try a good portion of the menu! Big mistake! We ordered through Doordash and when we got the order, what a disappointment! The ribs looked like they came from a small pot bellied pig! I have never seen ribs that small being sold ever! I took pictures showing the supposed rack with a quarter next to the end for reference! The meal is suppose to feed 3-4 people. The sides were individual sides you get 4 so, if 4 people were eating they get 1 individual side each! The sides were hit and miss! Beans, coleslaw, salad were great! The Au gratin potatoes were BLAH! Brisket was the only saving grace, tender and full of flavor! Ribs were advertised as "fall off the bone"! Not these DINKY things! Dry and chewy! The Chicken were dried out also. The Pulled pork was bland and didn't have any flavor! WOW! And you too could have this wonderful Meal for $50 dollars!!! Ordered takeout here after a long day of hiking and it was all fantastic. I ordered the beef brisket with beans, a caesar salad, and a side of cornbread. The beef brisket was tender and flavorful, and the portion was great. The beans were perfectly spicy and sweet with bacon. The cornbread was definitely homemade and fresh. Order was ready by the expected time they gave me and staff were friendly and accommodating. I briefly walked inside and it seems like a great place to watch a game over drinks as well. read more

The food is ok. The best you're gonna get currently for central Oregon bbq. But always check your to go order before you leave. They will forget one of your sides, then they will be totally rude about it when you call in. So it's best to just do their job for them, and make sure your order is complete before you leave. Early dinner, but with 6 in our party we still incurred a short wait, nothing terrible, but gave us time to view the menu and plan our meals prior to being seated. Service was excellent from that point forward and our meals were served to us very quickly. The various BBQ items were served hot and delicious. From pulled pork, to chicken, to beef brisket, super delicious. The meals were well price pointed for the portions as well. 'Twas visiting the father-in-law in Redmond and word of mouth among his friends brought us to Baldy's. Now that is some solid BBQ. I had the beef brisket sandwich - as with any sandwich there it came with baked beans, coleslaw, and choice of potato (I chose baked). The beef was SO tender and the sandwich was packed with it. Beans were perfectly smoky and flavorful. Hell I even ate (some of) the coleslaw, a product I generally hate, but Baldy's doesn't have that horrid vinegar tang that so many do. Delicious. Oh, and did I mention that it's an option to get your sandwich on garlic toast? Awesome. There are two sauces on the table, their traditional barbecue sauce and another (I can't remember the name!) that is also barbecue sauce but with a subtle spice that never overwhelms and really enhances the meat. The Tues/Thurs $10 Rack 'O Danish Ribs piqued my interest. Then I Yelped to make sure 'yall liked the food ...and based on reviews it was a winner. Super smoky bone sucking dee lishious ribs! The sides (beans & cole slaw) were good also. Could have used a roll or Texas toast to sop up all that amazing spicy Cat's Meow sauce -but alas the special doesn't come with either of those. Tried the regular BBQ sauce too (just for the benefit of my fellow yeeps)-and it was fine -go for the spicy one though. Yummy food, Good Value, Nice place (upscale???? maybe for a BBQ joint). This restaurant has a very well known positive reputation locally. It's small, somewhat noisy and fun. The service has been very, very good for us. The prices are good. But what we like is the food. It's very simple ribs and steaks, not the fancy steak house stuff, just good old home cooking. The rib steak sandwich special they had on Monday's for a long time with blue cheese was really really good. The fries are probably the best in the area, if you like their type of fries, hard to explain but nothing like McDonald's fries. They're very long fries, they appear homemade, not the frozen pre-made restaurant stuff. The ribs we've had there have been good and not overly expensive. We like it, it's good, and they consistently have a very good restaurant health score with the county. PS: One of the other reviews here talking about the service really sounds bogus to me. We've gone there maybe 15 or more times now, and always been greeted in a friendly manner, and treated very well by the waitress. I'm sure they have turnover so it's possible we missed the bad waitress but we've never seen her/him. read more

Had limited time and stopped in for a take-out order. The server said it would be 10 minutes. we ran to the bank so we could keep on schedule, came back, and food wasn't ready. after waiting for my son in the parking lot for 15 minutes I finally went in. Server told me that a lot of Door Dash orders had come in, and ours was almost done. Still nothing. Finally, I went and found the manager, she went back to the kitchen, still nothing. Finally she came out and said that our order had been lost and nobody knew about it. Food finally came out after 35 minutes, and she told us that she threw in a piece of cheesecake for our trouble. The food was really good, but our experience was not. To top it all off, the cheesecake we got "for our trouble" was frozen solid! So we were lied to, had to wait nearly 40 minutes for a 10 minute order, were late to our appointment, and the customer service answer was a frozen slice of cheesecake. read more

I am glad Beaverton had good service. Unfortunately, I cannot agree. This restaurant scores 5 stars in the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I went in a couple weeks back and the restaurant was maybe half full. (this is a small restaurant with double the staff of the old tenant) I new what I wanted right away and watched employees pass back and forth for almost 15 minutes, no acknowlegement, no order taking...completely clueless. A friend of mine wanted to go their for a business lunch recently so I figured I would give it another go. We arrived at 11:15AM. The restaurant was almost empty. We asked to sit in a booth which were ALL empty, but they would not allow us that option. The brisket is loaded with fat, nothing trimmed at all. I personally would trim it before putting between bread slices so you can actually eat the sandwich without the gobbs of fat. I don't know, maybe some people like huge chunks of fat in their sandwich. The sides are mediocre, the portions are small and the prices are high. Anyway, I find it very unforturate that Saigon Village; the old tenant who gave forth great effort to provide very possibly the best customer service in Central Oregon has been replaced by a staff that appears to have zero customer service or food industry experience. It's pretty exciting when you step into a strip mall restaurant and find yourself in an upscale establishment, even for barbecue and especially in Redmond where options are sometimes pretty narrow. The restaurant and decor is enough to knock a person off their feet, a total revamp over the previous tenants. It's tastefully fitted out in western style complete with tin shed awnings, heavy wood stools and booths. And there is also plenty of action happening on the walls including folksy jokes and cowboy humor along with old rusty items you might find in your own shed, if'n you're a cowboy. The wait service is adequate, but not over the top and the beer is ice cold and served in quaint canning jars. Folks who do barbecue often are probably well acquainted with the type of menu offered by Baldy's; everything from pulled pork to chili fries, beef brisket, fried catfish and rib eye steak sandwiches. Most everything is served with moderate portions of coleslaw and beans as well as heaping loads of fries. There are a few additional options for diners to choose from including corn bread and sweet potato fries and I'm told the sweet potato fries were right up there. I won't say the service will bring you right back, but the desire to try more items off the menu just might. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich which proved to be less than stellar, and not unlike what might come out of my own oven after a long slow roast. But still, when you're going to a barbecue joint your mouth gets ready for some of that prize winning slow smoked product that the television chefs are always talking about ... you know, the kind with the 'bark' on it ... succulent and juicy. Well, our pork wasn't exactly worth calling Guy Feiri over and honestly it was a bit dry and reminiscent of something that may have been leftover from the night before. However, we soon discovered that if you pour on the sauce you'll soon forget how mediocre the meat is ... but is that what barbecue is really all about? Speaking of sauce, you've got to try it! Baldy's served several options at the table, one with a slight jalapeño kick -- that's the good stuff! Give it a shot. I'm saving up to go back to Baldy's some day. I still have a hankering to try their fried catfish and I'd like to sneak a peek at their cherry crisp ... and I'm willing to give their 'smoked meat' options one more shot, just to see if they can bring it to the table ... and if not, well, I just might need to mosey back here and shrink down one of those stars off of my review ... I've been going to Baldy's since they opened at this new location on 6th and Dogwood in Redmond and was impressed with their staff and their food selections. Over the last few months, though, I have noticed that things have gone seriously downhill. Their happy hour menu, when they opened, offered excellent dishes: good-sized rib tip platters and great sliders. Over the last few months, though, the rib tips have been reduced to a very small plate of tips and the sliders are, for lack of a better word, pathetic. Today, during a visit during happy hour, I ordered 3 sliders and they were served on a hotdog bun that had been cut into 3 pieces with, at most, a tablespoon of beef on each slider ... not even a real slider bun, just a cut up hotdog bun. It was sad, to say the least. All the bartender could do after I commented on the small sliders was to shrug her shoulders in commiseration. And the salt-in-the-wound was I charged $2.50 for each of the sliders, even though the menu said that they were $2.00 each. Talk about false advertising. You might want to forgo ordering Baldy's happy hour appetizers. Not only because they are not worth the money listed on the menu but also because they will charge you more (Yes, more!) than the menu price. This place was packed the first time we tried to get in, so we came earlier the next night. We decided to call in the order "to go" because a ball game was on that we wanted to watch. We still had to wait a very long time for the order (probably twenty minutes), even though we arrived 5-10 minutes after they said it would be ready. This was annoying. So, I would recommend you plan to spend time there, which is somewhat strange because barbecued food should be ready and waiting to just be dished up. After receiving the order, the portions looked tiny in their carry-out containers, but in the end, they were just right - maybe even too big. The food was pretty good, but not exceptional. The biggest question is: would we go back the next time we're in Redmond, Oregon, and I'm not sure that we would. read more

We found this place thanks to Yelp, of course. That is how I find so many places away from home. But this place, in particular, is a place we never would have found, nor tried out, if we had not read reviews on it. The place is in a tiny little strip mall, where there are a couple other restaurants as well. Honestly, I wonder if maybe at least 50 % - 75 % of the places to eat in Redmond were in this strip mall. The location was easy to miss and really underwhelming, hence why without Yelp I never would have even bothered with this location. The restaurant itself is small, it has maybe 10 tables or so. They were very busy the entire time we were there. Our service was decent. My only complaint was that they didn't have crackers or bread to give the kids to calm them as we waited for their food. The food was very good. We tried so many things. The pork, turkey and brisket, the beans and slaw. All of it was enjoyable and well worth the trip we took to get there. Honestly, had I not have had really awesome BBQ in Portland at Podnah's, this place may have earned 5 stars. But I have eaten at Podnah's and that place set the 5 star bar. Blady's was a bit short of that. Podnah's pork seemed to be infused with flavor, however, Baldy's pork was bland in comparison and really needed sauce to spice and flavor it up. The turkey at Baldy's was perfect, and the beans, while good, didn't quite have the kick that Podnah's has. But really, Blady's is great and having to compare to Podnah's is tough. We were visiting from out of town and stopped here. Showed up at 4 p.m. and were quite surprised that there were quite a number of people in the restaurant. There were 5 of us and we ordered tons of food. The whole rack of pork ribs was HUGE and seemed more like a rack and a half. The meat was literally falling off the bone and was delish. My dad was sucking the bones. LOL! My hubby ordered a pulled pork sundae that was a bowl layered with mashed potatoes, baked beans and pulled pork. It was AMAZING! We also ordered a platter of bbqed chicken and turkey. The meat was moist and flavorful. My daughter ordered a plate of pulled pork that was okay (minus the 1 star). The sides we had were baked beans (YUMMO!!), coleslaw (literally the best we've ever had at a restaurant), jalapeno corn bread that didn't have any taste of jalapeno, delicious garlic cheese bread and mashed potatoes that were to die for. The food came out fast and hot. Service was very friendly. We had a lot of leftovers and enough meat that carried us into the next evening at our timeshare. Generally, inexpensive + huge portions = crappy food. But, not at Baldy's. This place was amazing. My family and I decided that we will definitely come back next year when we return to Redmond. read more
