I placed an online order of some baklava for my husbands birthday. He's traveled extensively so I wanted good baklava and there just isn't anything in our area. I ordered it a bit on the late side but they got it shipped quickly and it came with a couple of days to spare, securely wrapped and packaged with clear storage and freshness instructions. Soooo good!!! I've been here twice and each time I leave with amazing samples and a variety of baklava. I get the popular variety box for 33$ each. Today I was able to purchase a smaller box for 11$. I have been ordering from Baklava King for years. Always the same items , classic baklava, Burma rolls and spanakopita . I have always loved everything , especially since I loooove butter. This Christmas I placed my usual order and was not happy to discover the spanakopita is now much smaller in size than it used to be, and very obviously the butter content has gone WAY down. When I used to bake these (they arrive frozen and ready to bake), there used to be a lot of butter on the cookie sheet when taking them out of the oven , and you could actually see that each individual piece was coated in butter when it was frozen . No more. This year they were just okay . Smaller size and dry , not crispy buttery phyllo that I used to love. The baklava and Burma rolls were also disappointing. You used to be able to clearly taste fresh butter , and combined with the crispy phyllo and slight sweetness, it was baklava heaven. This year, the butter taste is gone and the baklava was actually very dry, not moist and heavy with honey syrup. Being that Baklava King is only open weekdays during business hours (which , if you work , is not do-able ) or you have to pay a delivery fee , and that the quality (read: butter content) has gone way down , I just don't feel that the products are now worth the price or hassle, sorry to say . read more

I learned of the Baklava King from a Mediterranean restaurant I frequented in Carlsbad. They served the best baklava. I asked if they made it in-house. The waiter said no, we order from Baklava King. Recently I had a dinner party in my house and one of my Turkish friends came with a bottle of raki (Turkish drink) and baklava. I tried to discourage them to bring in dessert as I was trying to keep them menu sugar free. First I thought, 'oh baklava made with the filo dough' as it is the worst version of baklava you can have an available only in the US as far as I know. Boy was I wrong! This baklava from Baklava King was made completely from scratch by remaining loyal to the authentic recipe. The dough was hand made, turned into rounded thing layers of dough. You need to make at least 20 of them to make decent baklava and it is a very labor intense work. Baklava king proved me wrong. I can now conform to all my Turkish and non-Turkish friend that you can have authentic baklava in the West coast. All you need is sign on http://WWW.BAKLAVAKING.COM I guarantee you. You will not regret it when you eat it. Afterwards, you better hit the gym or skip dinner or something. They have other delicacies as well. Since I haven't tried those, I can't comment on that. Damn. I had this baklava again recently and I can't get it out of my head. It's so moist and fresh. It's like nothing you can find at a store. I bought a 32-piece pistachio rolls yesterday. I called in advance for my order as instructed on their website believing that it will be made fresh for me. Disappointingly, they did not taste oven crunch and the bottom was soaked with sugar syrup making it overly sweet and the dough soggy. It's an indication that they've been sitting there for days. I called the company but was told that they are not made oven crunch but should be freezer or refrigerated crunch which is simply unheard of. I will not go back again :( read more

Baklava King's baklavas are the best in the United States. And their Burmas are the BEST IN THE WORLD! I didn't even eat such great burmas in Turkey. Burma is a rolled, cylindrical baklava and it goes great with ice cream. I love the chocolate burma. I suggest trying that first. Um, no words can describe the party in mouth when I took my first bite. This was also the first time having baklava and the choice couldn't be better. Placed an order Friday before the closed and thy had it ready by Monday at 1pm as requested! The lady who handed over the goods was amazingly nice and even had a small sample of four of the rolled baklava not knowing that I've never had baklava before. The box was all ready to go and I told her I was flying and she said oh wait, I'll add a little padding on the inside so it doesn't bounce around and then wrapped it back up. This is honestly one of the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. I will surely be back for more after I visit the dentist to fill the cavities that all this sugary goodness will give me. Haha read more

Hands down to the best BAKLAVA ever! You can taste the crunchiness of the filo pastry and the yummy walnut or pistachio honey filling in perfect combination. Perfect snack or dessert any time. Every time I've purchased it elsewhere or ordered it in a restaurant, it's doused with so much honey and glaze that it's way too sweet but this one is very light. The price is very reasonable. It's located in a warehouse type building where it is baked fresh during the week days. And the place is extremely clean. I was very surprised to see a business run this clean. You will not find a better price in this quality! They also sell trays of 30-40 pieces, great for parties. Always a crowd pleaser! The owners are friendly and have let me sample other dessert items that I ended up purchasing as well. read more

They hardly need another 5 star review, but I just want to thank Baklava King for their wonderful service and absolutely perfect gourmet dessert! They hand delivered our order right on time as promised even though it meant driving in traffic. They kindly included an extra tasting sampler which allowed us to try the baklava without breaking into the bigger boxes before the party. I first tasted this sweet a couple of yrs ago at TheDecember Nights Festival in Balboa Park. Since then I don't miss going and purchasing every time they are there selling this sweet. Recently it came up in a Groupon so I bought a voucher. I took drove to Santee and to my surprise they don't have a bakery type setting.
