This new bakery just opened up on Colonial Drive and had to check it out to buy some sweets for thanksgiving. When you first go in, you will see the rolled cake in the refrigerator. They have a big variety, from chocolate, vanilla, blueberry to flavors like Taro and green tea. I got the cinnamon flavor. On the self pick area, they have a lot of variety from cookies, to baked pastries to savory options. They also have coffees and teas. I ordered an americano and it was good! They also have people that talk spanish at the cashier, which will be nice for people who have a bit of difficulty communicating in english. Cool concept- part bakery, part restaurant, part tea shop. The bakery items were fresh and constantly replenished. Our favorite was the chicken pineapple bun. We tried the chocolate moose cake. It's not the traditional creamy moose, it was rather super airy which is not my favorite. I tried the black tea boba... it was a huge disappointment. It tasted like water with no tea flavor. Now for the kitchen dishes. The Sui Mai was the best dish the walnut chicken was also very good. The chive dumpling was mushy, I would skip it the next time I come. We came here around 5-6PM on a Friday and it wasn't too crowded, but more tables filled up as time passed. I was excited to check out the bakery but they were sold out of almost everything so I would recommend coming early if you want baked goods. We got a blueberry cheesecake and a mango pudding before ordering some dim sum dishes and getting a table on the restaurant side. The cheesecake was a Japanese cheesecake, so it was super light and soft. The blueberry jam was a nice sweet touch. The mango pudding was okay, just wish it was creamy but that's just personal preference. The dim sum took a while to come out, but it came out steaming hot and in large portions. We got the shu mai, the soup dumplings, and the chicken feet. The shu mai was the BEST shu mai I've had! Huge, super juicy, and full of flavor. With chili oil, it was the absolute perfect bite. Soup dumplings were okay, we've had better. The chicken feet were massive, and I liked the flavor but not sure I'd get it again. I would come back here just to get the shu mai. It was that good!!! This place was absolutely amazing! I loved everything about it. I saw it on social media and knew I needed to try it. I figured they were mainly a coffee and bakery place but their dumplings were some of the best I have ever had in my life. The decor inside it so cute and modern where I would be happy to spend time. There are signs to help you understand how to order and pay. The service was great. They were very nice and helpful. The food and drinks came out quick and fresh. The only thing I could note is that the only milk alternative they had at this time was soy milk but that may change with time. Overall I will definitely be returning very soon! read more

The place is a lot bigger inside than I thought. Super cute and cozy. They bring you the food, but otherwise it's primarily self serve. You can grab desserts and baked goods from the bakery and then order from the iPad or at the counter. The soup dumplings and the dumpling soup is good. I've tried a few of their baked goods and they have all been good. Definitely recommend going earlier as there will be many more options at the bakery. Have you always wanted to try an Asian bakery in Orlando? Well...I have a few questions because there are others on the same road as this place but that's not the focus of this review. Bakery 1908 is not only an Asian bakery but also a boba and savory lunch spot. I love being honest and fully transparent. That being said I only have tried one thing from here. So unlike my previous reviews which I usually write after several trips and experiences. I've been to this place twice. The first time was on a Sunday around 11am peak busy period so I walked around with my mom. It looked cute and I wanted to come back when the line wasn't nearly out the door. Today was that day. I walked in with a friend this time to also walk around. Full disclosure, my first walk through, I didn't find anything that I wanted or that appealed enough for me to want to buy. I assumed as it was very busy and missing pastries were evident that a second trip was in order to see what was missing. I didn't feel anything that screamed to me but ended up buying a soft Almond Round Cake on my second trip. The cake was squishy and so light I wanted it. It's basically a 5 dollar sponge cake. Very reasonably priced compared to other parts of the menu that were pretty pricey. Dim Sum being more that 8 dollars is criminal to me but you do you. The shop is beautiful. It's a simple but elegant shop that has a lovely seating area. Since it is close to UCF, you see many people studying or on laptops working. I urge those coming to study or work here to heed this warning: it can get pretty loud in there so it can possibly be detrimental to your productivity if you are sensitive to loud noises and being easily distracted. But honestly such a cute shop! Now I am sure you want to know more about the Almond Round Cake. Well it doesn't taste like almonds. It's a light sponge cake with minimal sweetness. Almonds are just in top. I've seen other reviews talking about mold coming on their cake. I've only had this cake for about 9 hours now and it's still holding up perfectly well. It's worth the stop if you are in the are. I wouldn't drive out of my way to come here if you live far unless you will make a day out of it. Overall I would give my experience and the food an 8/10. The sweet buns are probably my favorite, I like the meat/cheese ones for savory and the strawberry cream for sweet. The restaurant can get crowded but I haven't had an issue finding a table or a spot for parking. The dumplings are also pretty good, but not my favorite compared to the other items. I stopped by and grabbed a blueberry tart, an egg tart, and a chicken sausage croissant. Even though the croissant looks like a beef hot dog, it is actually made with chicken sausage and it was really good. The egg tart was perfect, with a creamy filling and a flaky crust that was just right. The blueberry dessert was sweet, creamy, and had the perfect texture. Well we found Mills 50 Gold!! Granted you will never come to Mills 50 disappointed or leave Hungry since there is so much food! But this place- I feel in love with it the moment I stepped in. It's very much like the French bakery in winter park - but BETTER! The prices were really good and the size of the pastries and cookie amount was very gracious! You know i have to come back - we tried the bakery section but now we know to come for lunch to try the dim sum and boba and all the hot food they serve. I usually wait a few weeks for a new restaurant to settle before I give it a try. The day I went they had some power issues so the inside dining was closed but the outside was open. It wasn't too busy but could have been busy before I got there as 1/2 of the bakery items were gone. I ordered the sticky rice and milk tea boba in addition to a couple of pastries on the shelf. My friend ordered salt and pepper chicken?, grilled potstickers and wonton soup. It took a while to get my food. I don't know if they steamed it to order or they're still working out kinks but it was about 30 mins for one food item. My friend's took equally as long but their food did require a little more preparation. The dim sum was decent. On par with what you would normally get at a dim sum restaurant. The boba I got was excellent in terms of sweetness ratio and the softness of the boba and the nice cup. The 2 pastries I got were good maybe some of the best in Orlando. I would like to mention is a little extra staff training would be great. One staff member cleaning the table next us was spraying the chemicals on the table next to us and the mist was hitting me and our food. I tried to my best to block it. They should be taught if they're that close to customers to spray on the towel then wipe. I also helped them change the paper towel roll in the bathroom and 3 employees were huddled around it trying to figure it out. The overall decor is very modern. The price of the boba and pastries was reasonable but the dim sum options was pricey for what you get. Overall I'm glad Orlando got a bakery like this and although I don't think I would frequently go here, I would return. read more

Went here to see what everyone was so excited about. I really enjoyed their selection of pastries/baked goods as well as dim sum, it felt very varied. However, it was also quite pricy and so I just got a pack of green tea puffs as well as a fruit tea. The fruit tea did come in a very cute yakult shaped container which was fun! Then we settled in to study and there's a lot of seating and nice lighting which made this a great study spot even if it was a little out of my price range to eat a proper meal here. read more

Decided to stop here during my trip to Orlando & it was the cutest bakery spot! Everything was clean, organized & there was a lot of different pastries/desserts to choose from. Great atmosphere & a lot of seating as well so it's definitely a good spot to hangout with friends & grab some snacks/boba! I definitely recommend the peach bun or ham & cheese roll. The pork fried dumplings were also a great snack as well. I tried the pork pastry & it was a little stale but it could possibly be due to coming late at night! Very cool adition to the Mills50 area. Lots of unique desserts, breads, pastrys and teas. They also have hot dumplings but I did not try those on this visit but will be back to try them. It is a bit confusing when you walk in. Theres some self service section for buns and touchscreen for teas. Then a counter service for dumplings and to pay. We got a blueberry topped cinnamon bun, pork bun, dulce de leche milk tea and mango sorbet. All the flavors were good and not super sweet which we liked. Seemed to be all made very well. There were so many options it was a bit overwhelming so we will have to go back a few more times to try a bit of everything but will be doing so glady! Highly recommend. read more

Their bakery selection is amazing, they have both sweet and savory pastries/cakes and other baked goods. You just grab a tray, pick what you want, and enjoy! All baked goods are a great value, nothing exceeds $5. Other than their bakery, you can also order small bites and teas! My personal favorite is their 1908 tofu (must try!). I love love their popcorn chicken/chicken karage, and their rose lemon fruit tea. Servers are friendly, you can also order on a kiosk if you prefer. They couldn't separate my cappuccino (coffee and milk in a separate cup), which was upsetting- I order my coffee drinks "deconstructed" all the time and never had my request declined. I had to take just a double espresso but the amount was more like a single shot. I'll stick to a water next time and will get more breads and buns. So I can only give 4 stars. read more
