The tacos are soooo good!! I have never been let down by the tacos here. I also recommend the taquitos! They are tasty and filling. For appetizers you have to try the queso.. it's one of the best I have ever had. The service here is pretty good every time I have went, they let you stay inside to wait which is really nice. I went here with my friend when it was cold and was scared we were going to have to wait outside but we were able to wait inside and get a drink from the bar before we sat down. I will say it does get pretty loud around dinner time so it's a great place for informal setting. Wishing I had pictures of my food from here before scarfing it down. read more

Bakersfield has been one of the TOP places to grab some Mexican food and fancy Margeritas in Cincinnati, personally. Friday night, I got here with friends and was lucky to get the booth inside. We ordered the trio as appetizer, the pineapple Margerita pitcher to start. The trio was good, but the dips except guacamole were lack lustre. I'd suggest getting the chips and guac alone, or queso if you are a cheese person. Main course, I got the short rib tostadas. They were SO GOOD. Another friend got the Willie salad and he liked it too. The others had tacos. The Baja Shrimp, Polo Asado, Fish are highly recommended. They have a wide collection of alcohol and the Margs are a must-try. The price point is pretty reasonable for the ambience and food. On a visit to see my granddaughter in Cincinnati - took her here for lunch because they have a GF menu (she has Celiac). They have a variety of tacos on their menu- plenty of options. The tacos are small but priced appropriately so you can order 2-3 for a meal. The bartender was our waiter... I tried a margarita he recommended that was made with pomegranate juice - delicious. It's not a fancy place, but it was busy and its proximity to UC makes it a nice place to hang out. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, the food was fresh, tasty and came out quickly. We had a great time sitting at the bar on a Monday night. Best Mezcal Margarita I've had, and you can get it in a pitcher! The pitcher was actually more than two of us could share so we invited a friend to join. Queso was yummy and tacos were delicious. I don't even remember which I ordered but they all sounded good on the menu. The bar seating was a bit tight (as bars tend to be) but I was comfortable enough. The wait on Friday night @6 p.m. was 45 minutes but it was worth it! It was kind of noisy, but not too loud to have a conversation. We were able to stand at a table near the bar while we were waiting and nosh on the appetizer trio of guac, and two salsas. We all agreed that the guacamole was super delicious and the red salsa was kind of smoky-tasting, but pretty mild. Our party of 4 all ordered tacos (2 or 3 each) which were all served on a large, communal platter. It was weird, but we each had a plate so we transferred them to our individual plates. My choices - shrimp, pastor and fish - were all delicious and each was topped differently. The homemade corn tortillas were a bit thick, but not overly so. The ambiance at the place was relatively noisy. I was greeted with lively chatter as soon as I walked inside. I initially was reluctant to come in after initially being told I couldn't have a table but rather a bar seat despite calling in advance. I've been to this place multiple times, and overall it's a hit-or-miss. Tonight it was a mostly a miss unfortunately. The chips and guacamole were pretty delicious. I ordered a sangria which was absolutely divine. It had nice apples and oranges at the bottom. Even though I had a bar seat we had the friendliest bar tender who provided the best service. The lows tonight were unfortunately the tacos. The tacos come on a corn tortilla with some sort of protein or lack of protein depending on preference. I ordered the fish taco, shrimp taco and lastly the diablo chicken. Personally the tacos were a bit on the dry side for me. They didn't have enough sauce and cream and I found myself using my guacamole to enhance the flavor. Personally, would recommend a side of creama to anyone ordering the diablo chicken and also just as a backup to enhance flavor. I nearly burned my mouth after biting into that bad boy. I've always heard great things about Bakersfield. Being a huge taco fan, I finally had the time to check Bakersfield out. The guacamole was outstanding. Perfectly chunky with a bit of a kick. Chips were salty, thin and airy, just the way I like. I didn't have any drinks and would not be opposed to returning to try a few. My favorite taco was the carnitas. Second was the short rib. Fish taco needed more flavor. I'm typically not a corn tortilla person but these were fresh and not bad at all. The hostess had an extreme attitude and I felt like we were bothering her by asking for a table. Maybe she was having a bad night. When I was a young college student, this was the place to be. It was one of the few cool places downtown. This was back at the very beginning of the OTR renovation. I managed to not go to this place for a more than a decade but have finally gone. From what I know, Bakersfield is known for margaritas and tacos. We started the evening with drinks, chips, and guac. The waiter made it seem like the guac was something special. It is not. It is a more rough cut guacamole but that's it's most interesting feature. The chips were unremarkable. Neither of these were bad they were just a little...boring. I got a margarita with anejo. I thought it was good. It's sour and tangy, not too sweet, and anejo has more flavor than tequila or mezcal. If you like margarita mix (nothing against it) and don't like sour stuff, this might not be for you. The tacos were delicious. I got a fish taco and a short rib taco. Both were delicious. Highly recommend the short rib. If you're not a big eater, I think splitting a starter, and getting two tacos per person is just enough. If we hadn't gotten chips, I might have gotten three, maybe even four tacos. I don't think this place is amazing but it's a solid night out. Good drinks, good food, nice staff, fun ambience. Not sure if I'd go here for a date again. Definitely a place to grab a couple drinks with a group of friends. read more

We try to hit a different OTR restaurant before each FCC game. Bakersfield is already making its second appearance of the season though. We love it. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere are all great. The tacos are hard to pass up, but I tried the taquitos this time. So good. I recommend the carnitas over the chicken but both are good. I have been dying to get to a Bakersfield near me for a long time. Getting to downtown Pittsburgh sometimes can be a pain. We happened to be taking a Valentine's Day trip to Covington, KY and were just right over the bridge from Cincinnati so we decided on our first night to grab an Uber and head over to Bakersfield! As a preface we got to try them at a taco fest event in Pittsburgh and we thought they were the best of everyone there! There was a slight wait but a few seats opened at the bar and we decided to go for it. Seating was a bit tight but manageable. Our bartender was fantastic and attentive. She walked us through the menu options and drinks. I ordered the the premium margarita and my wife ordered the Bakersfield marg. They were both absolutely fantastic and we both really enjoyed the drinks. They were a strong pour and by far some of the best margaritas we have had anywhere. I absolutely suggest giving them a try! We ordered the queso appetizer. It came out and was a little different than we expected. The cheese was extremely flavorful and definitely unique for this type of dish. I found it to be fantastic but if you're expecting a normal queso dip this might throw you off. I ordered three tacos at first, the al pastor, the pollo diablo, and the bistec. My wife ordered a short rib, pollo mojo, and a pollo Diablo. My al pastor was pretty good, I wouldn't call it a traditional al pastor but it hits the spot well enough if you're trying to find this type of taco! The pollo diablo was VERY spicy, it's a delicious taco but be prepared for a little bit of pain! Finally the bistec, this steak taco was phenomenal with the slaw and flavors I loved it so much I ordered a second one which is extremely rare for me. It's making my mouth water just typing this! My wife enjoyed her pollo mojo but couldn't finish her pollo Diablo. So absolutely LOVED the short rib and the bit I tasted was beyond fantastic. If I had more room I might have ordered one of those as well! I feel for the price this is a great deal and overall a great experience. As soon as I walked in, I knew it was going to be fantastic as I found the last empty seat at the bar. First, the atmosphere. Old country music and a little rock and pop mixed in and the volume was just right. Thumbs up. Even though I was going to try a pineapple margarita, the bartender asked me if I wanted a sweet drink. I told her not too sweet, so she convinced me to do a regular one. I drank two of them, well balanced and satisfying. As for the food, I had five different tacos. Major props that I could order one taco at a time, not all taco places will let you do that. All of them were really good, but I probably liked the fish, crispy shrimp, and al pastor the most. But I wasn't disappointed with anything I tried. The TV Choicchoice was interesting, they were playing old B&W movies, yet there was still a very young clientele. Check this place out! read more

This is my second visit here, and was as equally as impressed. You can't go wrong with any of the tacos, the queso is homemade, and the cauliflower... no words. I always go for the spicy margarita and so should everyone else. This is one of my favorite places in OTR. They have a really good happy hour, after 9, $2 tacos. THE BIG: Located on the hot vine st of OTR (Over the Rhine) neighborhood of Cincy's downtown. Medium sized venue garnished with rustic decor that reminded me of the tequila factories in mexico. Parking is rare on the streets, but there's plenty of parking in the underground parking lot at Jefferson park. THE BLACK AND WHITE: After arriving into Cincy, my buddy and I immediately started drinking...eventually that drinking turned into hungerness. I was feeling tacos and he recommended Bakersfield. ***WARNING - wait times are ridiculous for dinner, however they do take down your number and call you when a space opens up. Our wait took 2 hours for a 2 person table. We ended up going to another bar and drinking there before receiving the table open text. The menu is pretty big, but my friend recommended us to just eat the tacos. They're on the more expensive side (~$4 a taco). When I was in mexico, I got 3 tacos for $1! We first started off by ordering the pineapple margarita, which was super delicious. I was kinda disappointed they didn't bring it to us in a pineapple. You could have the option of having the rim lined with chipotle salt. For an appetizer, we got the guac and chips. Let me tell you, the chips here were soooo good. I think it may have been the lime salt on them, but I would've been happy even without the guac. You could tell the guac was freshly made and it was a pretty big portion size. As for tacos, I got 3 (mole, spicy mahi, and short rib). My favorite was by far the spicy mahi. I love fish tacos (especially fried fish) and the spicy mayo made it the perfect taco. The mole was good but wasn't as chocolaty as I expected. Short rib is always a safe choice. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall damage was $32.82 including tax and tip. I was thoroughly stuffed. They have a great selection of margaritas and tacos. We ordered the Seasonal Margarita - Orange Hibiscus and the Bakersfield Margarita. The Seasonal was refreshing and a little tart - very good. The Bakersfield margarita was a traditional margarita, but bumped up a star or two. We got both salted. We started with the chips and guacamole. The guacamole was absolutely the freshest in the city!! - and the chips - wow!! Also very fresh!! You have to add their special "Bakersfield" sauce for a little extra kick. We got tacos to eat. The chicken, fish and short ribs were very good!! The tacos are small (about 3" diameter) so getting all 3 is a perfect serving. The portobello, corn and fish were also very good! For a person who eats less - I didn't finish all 3 until later in the day. Our server, Courtney, was great. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Great tacos! Great drinks! It wasn't the easiest to find a place open before 4:00pm for food in Downtown Cincinnati on a Friday and I thought that was really weird. The drinks took a long time to come. Paid $10 for chips and the trio of salsa, guacamole and a cheese dip. Ate a lot of chips but didn't make a dent in all of the dips because the do give you a nice amount. I came here a couple of years ago and was a little underwhelmed with the experience - but was extremely happy coming back! I came here for lunch and ended up starting with a classic chips and salsa. My fiancé and I decided to split the carnitas and chicken taquitos - and this is definitely the route to go! The last time we came, we got the tacos and they were pretty good but the taquitos are excellent! They are served with enchilada sauce base which I haven't seen paired with taquitos, but it was the perfect combination! To go with it, I got the Ruby Red Margarita which is the perfect drink if you want a marg that isn't super sweet. We got reservations and I would definitely recommend doing that if you're planning on coming here since it is such a popular spot in Cincinnati. Great vibes, great service, and great food! read more

These tacos are TINY! I got three tacos for $12 (shrimp, fish, and short rib). For that price, I expect one person to be decently full. When I got my order, I realized I would need double the amount to accomplish that. Each taco was about two small bites. I will say that they were filled a decent amount with meat so that's good. The issue was that none of the flavors stood out enough to justify the price and make me feel this was at all a good value. I finally got a spot at this place. This was our first stop for taco crawl with my bestie. The menu was explained to us politely. We ordered chips and queso (which is different from other quesos I have had, it had a grainy structure). They do take a limited amount of reservations through open table, so I'd recommend doing that! We've been twice. The last time was late on a Sunday night, when there aren't that many places open for food in OTR. I ordered a margarita to start. I do NOT recommend that. It was incredibly sweet. Then we had done chips and guac, which was good, although the avocado was a little too chunky for my taste. Then we each got three tacos.
