We waited 45 minutes for our food. 4 meals ( 2 omelettes, chicken meal and pork meal.) The food arrived just room temperature, badically cold ( it was 13:55pm on a Sunday and the kids were really hungry by then. Restaurant closed at 2pm. Margaret (server) appologized for the wait but we still had to pay for a cold meal. Think this restaurant is just lucky as it is 2 minutes walk from the birthplace of Pepsi. Really nice place to visit. Ambiance was nice - it's a big place but waitstaff was very attentive and personable. Food was really yummy. We had French toast, eggs, "Dutch potatoes," sausage, etc.. We were admittedly a bit skeptical of their "famous" butter syrup after reading the menu and I figured it would be super sweet, but it was actually quite good, not terribly sweet, and an interesting alternative to the usual maple syrup. We liked it. Overall really nice experience and I'd be happy to come back. read more

I hopped in here at a friend's recommendation but only to grab some sweets the day before Thanksgiving and bring them to share with family. I didn't dine in. The baked items for carry out were delicious. And the ones I didn't buy also looked too enticing to pass up. I managed to get a slice of pumpkin pie, a pumpkin bar, s'mores bar and three cookies. The pie was perfect, the pumpkin bar wasn't bad (but not as good as the pie), the s'mores bar too sweet for my liking and the cookies were also perfect (especially the chocolate chip one). I learned very quickly that you shouldn't wait around to question whether or not you should get something or what you should get. Every person in line in front of me got multiple boxes and bags of stuff. Only a few people in front of me and they were almost totally emptied out by the time I arrived at the counter. This could've been because of the day I went, but it's worth noting the price-to-deliciousness ratio was quite off balance here. If I can get things this good for this cheap, why wouldn't I double the bounty? I hope to get back someday for one of those massive cinnamon rolls. read more

Stopped by here on my way home from my vacation at the beach as the food looked great. I went with a traditional comfort/country style breakfast. My waitress was nice and attentive. I did have a little trouble finding the place, was using GPS on my phone and I am not from the area, but a nice gentleman helped me find my way. Enjoyed my meal very much. read more

Pretty good. We grabbed breakfast here one morning. The boys got muffins and hot chocolate. We ordered eggs, sausage, French toast, and the Dutch potatoes. Dutch potatoes are similar to hash brown casserole or funeral potatoes. These were sooooo cheesy; almost too cheesy, which is something you would rarely ever hear me say. The entire meal was pretty good. My only complaint was my toast, it was not really toasted, yet we could have played hockey with it. read more

Good food, casual setting. Loved the fact you can use the yelp app to get on the waiting list. I enjoyed the chicken salad, corn fritters and sweet potato casserole. My partner says her chicken tenders were her favorite ever. The cucumber salad was tasty. Warning, the Dutch potato dish is excellent but so full of rich ingredients you may struggle later. Seems we caught the tail end of Sunday lunch as the bakery items were in short supply. Most of the staff write masks but a couple did not. read more

First time going here and the food was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive. Portion sizes for the biscuits and gravy were huge and definitely had to take the rest home. I barely put a dent in it lol. Only giving four stars because the host had a bit of an attitude when we brought our baby in and we initially said 2 people rather than 3. I believe he thought that we didn't hear him, but I definitely did. Mind you, we did this so we weren't taking up a table for 4 people when we didn't need it especially since this place is always busy. Regardless, overall a good experience for it being one of the only breakfast places in town, especially for a busy weekend. read more

Best home food breakfast and lunch in New Bern. I would probably say dinner except they don't stay open for dinner. Plenty of selection of egg dishes, omelets, cinnamon rolls or pancakes for breakfast and I've enjoyed them all. Lunch offers chicken fried steak that always hits the spot and tastes fresh not frozen. Sides are always good and my favorite is the Dutch potatoes. My daughter loves the sweet potato fries. Service is spot on and located in downtown in one of the historic buildings. I've been here a few times. Every time we visit my son at the base we take one morning to have breakfast at this place. There is always a line, which is a bunch of people waiting around outside up and down the street. You would kind of expect that since they're not that many options in the city at this time. However, once we check in the wait has never been longer than 35 minutes. The food is outstanding. The biscuits are massive. So be careful if you want biscuits you're going to get a bunch. There was nothing that we tried that we did not like. Our servers have been very friendly every time. The food has always been delivered hot. We love that. read more

Food was cold, biscuit dry and hard as a rock. Sausage mushy, Baker's special potatoes a bowl of mush. Coffee WEAK. Trainee served both coffees in cracked cups. It didn't take long for us to get a seat, but plan ahead, because timing is everything with this restaurant. I ordered the chicken and waffle for my entrée and I could've made two meals out of this. It was so good though. The chicken "strips" were more like breasts, but I wasn't complaining. Cooked to perfection, with enough to go around, and around. The waffle was pretty amazing too once all of the syrup soaked in and the chicken bits fell into the nooks and crannies. You won't leave here hungry. read more

Over an hour wait for food that was just okay. So disappointed. If it was not for our amazing waitress this would be 2 stars! The food here is seriously nothing special. 100% not worth the standard hour long wait on the weekend. Bacon was overcooked, chicken on the chicken and waffles had no real flavor, and the cheesy biscuit was dry and just okay. Now to be fair the butter syrup was amazing, and will have me come back to try pancakes which could buy back a fourth star, but till then this is a solid three star spot that I refuse to wait an hour for again. read more

Beautiful atmosphere. Decor is nostalgic and lovely for small town feel. Sheka was amazing. She was funny, kept our table clear. Sheka was knowledgeable about the menu... The biscuits and gravy were good, for the size of biscuits they definitely need more gravy on the plate. Coffee is good, eggs were cooked perfectly. The pastries here are amazing!
