Came into the New Bern Dr Martin Luther King on Saturday on 7/26 and was treated rudely by a young girl behind the counter. I asked for a roast beef sub and she began slicing the roast beef that was an end piece, full of fat and looked old. When I asked for fresh roast beef I was told they did not have any at the beginning of the work day. As she huffed and puffed and mumbled under her breath I asked her to please make me a turkey sub which she did and added day old brown lettuce. Come on Jersey Mikes your better than this. I enjoy Jersey Mike's subs my favorite is the Philly cheesesteak so I know what I'm getting with regards to a meal. We went here on 8/10/22 at about 6:00pm. They were pretty busy and had a lot of online orders. The manager that was working was awesome!! She motivated all her staff to keep going and that they were doing an awesome job!! Managers like that are a dime a dozen she is someone that you would want to work for!! Literally the only place I goto for a philly cheesesteak because it is the best! Always fresh and quick service here. The man that made my sandwich was attentive and friendly. He greeted me when I came in and gave me time to look over the menu (I still like looking at the menu just in case I choose to switch it up) and asked if I wanted any extras. The tables were clean and floors tidy. The man who cooked our food, I believe he was the manager, even hand delivered our sandwiches since we were eating in. They were completely confused and disorganized. They were busy with online orders and door dash that they didn't even care about the people that came into the store. Took 20 minutes to make my sandwich. 5 of those minutes they left it in the side to take phone orders and complete orders that were behind me. I had ordered a giant chicken bacon ranch. The first mistake is they forgot to start making it until we reminded them, second mistake after they made it they put it on the wrong bread and left it sitting for 5 minutes (it was cold), third mistake they forgot to put bacon on it (I saw that when I got home), and last they made the whole thing a mess. When people pay 15$ for a sub at least make it look decent and not a cold slob. I understand its COVID-19 times but y'all need to calm down and slow down. Thanks read more

This Jersey Mike's is the best! The staff is great and the food is always fresh and delicious. I just picked up subs for a Halloween party. Every sandwich was labeled and they included the oil and vinegar on the side, just so the sandwiches wouldn't get soggy. The sandwiches were a big hit with everyone. This shop is under new management--if you haven't been since new owner, do give it a chance again! You won't be disappointed! The restaurant has been remodeled and is very clean. Their sanitation grade has been an A! The staff are very kind and helpful. This place has gone downhill on the past few years. Staff is unfriendly, never get what I ask for. Always get cheese steak and ask for no peppers but add lettuce and banana peppers. New ownership, going downhill fast. The previous group was at least a little flexible and used some common sense. I just purchased half a sub for my daughter. She only wanted two types of meat, not extra meat, and nothing else on the sub. No cheese, no veggies, and no mayo or dressing, just bread and meat. What would you think that should cost? $9.47, plus tax. Even the most expensive subs on their menu are less than that. Their reasoning? No other way to ring it up. They charged $2 more for EXTRA meat, even though we didn't get it. There are several other subs on the menu that have at least three meats, some including bacon, with cheese and all the fixings, for $2 less. I'm not going to go broke over a $2 up charge, it's just the principle. My first experience with Jersey Mikes and I can say it is a clean and friendly sub place. But the prices compared to the portions of food are outrageous. My husband and I stopped by last night about 9pm, not realizing they closed at 9pm. After we walked through the door we expected to be turned away and told they were closed, however that wasn't the case. We were welcomed and had the BEST service from any sub shop ever. This place needs to clean up its mess, literally. 84 sanitation grade recently, and barely have an A now. Employees do not follow health code. I've seen employees handle money with gloves on, then proceed to make sandwiches with those same gloves, etc. Food is great, just watch the employees like hawks while they are making your food. I had a steak and cheese with onions mushrooms and jalapenos. It had a name but I have forgotten it. Sandwich was good, fresh made. Bread was soft and tasty, wheat. Service was friendly They brought the sandwich to the table for me. The heath grade was a low B which concerned me a little and it was from a few months ago so I wondered why they had not been reinspected yet. Also the first table had papers and files spread all over it as if it was being used for an office. It was also a little pricey almost $17 for a sandwich, drink and chips but It was big enough that I saved half of the sandwich for dinner. It also had a fair amount of meat in the sandwich so overall not a terrible value. I would have rated it higher if not for the health grade and using the dining room as a office. Food and service no complaints. Revised up to a 4 star. My last visit was much better. Food and service both very good. Place was clean and neat and had a health grade of A. read more
