This review is a little overdue, but I wanted to share my experience. I recently hosted a holiday party and placed an online order for a turkey dinner and a ham dinner. I received an email confirmation stating my order was ready for pickup. When I arrived, I waited at the deli area for a while before getting someone's attention. I explained that I was there to pick up my order, and the associate informed me that a manager would be coming out to speak with me. At that moment, I had a feeling something was wrong. Bobby, the manager, came out and explained that they had not received any orders. I immediately felt sick to my stomach, and I think he noticed because he quickly reassured me that he had a plan. Bobby explained that while the turkeys had not arrived yet, he would fulfill everything else on my order. His calm and proactive approach instantly put me at ease. Although I didn't get the turkey, I was just grateful to have food for my residents. Bobby was absolutely amazing--polite, kind, and professional throughout the entire situation. This has nothing to do with the grocery part itself - just the pharmacy! I had to use Publix pharmacy today (Christmas Eve) because my usual pharmacy was closed. My son's pediatrician sent over eye drops for pink eye and they told me to come back in 45 minutes so I came back an hour later then they say it'll be another 25 minutes. When I told the lady at the drive thru that I already waited an hour she shrugged her shoulders and said "the pediatrician just sent it over." We go to this Publix quite often. Every time we are always greeted with great customer service. Our favorite part of the visit was the sample kiosk but of course since COVID this is no more. The selection of grocery items are always pretty good. The only slight to Publix is the prices but if you pay attention to the sales papers and are able to plan your shopping around those sales you should be good to go. I really do appreciate the attentiveness of the workers and the friendliness we are always met with. I recommend stopping by if you have never been to one or are in the area. read more

I don't want my feelings to be too much a part of this review, particularly as the issue could be delivery service. I ordered on line for delivery and I always buy organic. In the store, there is not a clear "organic" section, many of the products are scattered with others and somewhat slim pickings. I ordered free range organic chicken and organic apples, but standard chicken and apples were substituted, despite my statement that I did not want substitutions. So this part of the issue has nothing to do with Publix, specifically. Being unaware of the separation of services, I contacted the Publix to complain about this and to request the option of bringing in the unwanted items to swap them for my needs. Instead, it was the classic dish-off to someone else. It's not service, it is not a reflection of the desire to keep me as a customer. Rather than making another call and going through whatever hoops I would have to jump through to get such a simple thing resolved, I choose not to shop where a solution is not offered, even when it's staring in their faces. Prices, generally, are very high. Harris Teeter, right across the street, has more easily located options for my organic needs anyway, so inasmuch as it was easy for this customer service person to fail on that point, it's just as easy for me to turn left instead of right to get to the store that has, in fact, offered superb service. I will see if I can have deliveries from Harris Teeter, and am unlikely to return to Publix. read more

I absolutely hate the new big Harris Teeter in town and have always loved shopping at Publix. It's little and I can get in and out. What I absolutely cannot stand here, is that they seem to only have one full service checkout open at anytime of day. So, of course that line is packed, leaving me to wait FOREVER or go to self checkout, with a weeks worth of groceries. I don't like working all day, and having to go "work" at Publix for free. What makes me even more upset, is scanning and bagging a weeks worth of groceries and getting to watch their employees just stand around. Can customers start getting paid their wages? As much as I disdain Harris Teeter, I'm unfortunately making a permanent move over there. Maybe one day Publix will get it back together. Or close it's doors. read more

Went to Publix again today, beautiful store but I believe it is going to close shortly. I wanted to get some beef for dinner but many packages were either brown or green (old beef , not aged) it takes 3-4 days for meat to turn brown and 4 or more to turn green. I settled on Pork chops that looked great, I pointed out the beef issue to the fish monger, a very nice guy , like most of the employees always pleasant. Quite a few times in the past few weeks I have had a similar experience with the produce dept. and pointed it out to the clerk on duty. Again very pleasant folks but WHY is NO ONE culling the case first thing in the morning. I shop at Publix , H.T. and Food Lion for a fast item. Publix is my favorite but someone has to get on the ball over there. Assign 1 really good person to cull all cases AFTER the dept . head is finished doing the same. Remember he is held accountable for shrink and they are probably afraid to throw stuff out, THAT NEEDS TO BE THROWN OUT. read more

Absolutely love Publix! Got a taste of them when visiting Florida but was happy to know they had one in New Bern. Slowly making their way north?? I find a lot of the organic items I like which is a rare find in some parts of Eastern NC. My favorite item is their key lime pie! This round manna from heaven is worth destroying my eating regimen into a million pieces! We also got some crab legs from the seafood section that were very good. The store is clean with a leisurely feel to it. The employees are exceptionally friendly and helpful. All these things are a refreshing change compared to grocery stores in Northern Virginia where I live. read more

Pros: great bakery Some exclusive products Cheese selection/quality is top notch Friendly, helpful employees, great service, clean. Cons: Nose-Bleed high prices! Even sale items are higher sometimes than other stores regular prices. Bakery has inconsistent product, overdone/underdone. Haven't bought any fresh meats/seafood due to high prices. (usually cheaper across the street) The store is never crowded and there's always plenty of parking close to the door. Due to the huge volume of products and the lack of customers, I sometimes feel like I'm in a food museum...with shelves completely full, perfectly arranged because no one has disturbed them. Almost like you're not allowed to touch them. I feel sad that they've built this nice store, spent all this money and time, only to open up in a town that will ignore and omit them like a red-headed stepchild. Piggly Wiggly, Food Lion, Harris Teeter and Walmart grocery stores are going to squeeze Publix into a quick demise. The products are already going out of date on the shelf. Overall, it is a beautiful store. I wouldn't say its much nicer than a harris teeter. It is very expensive and they dont have many sales. I enjoyed the store being empty but I think it is due to a lack of store sales. I would shop here more if it wasn't noticeably more expensive than other stores. read more

Their grocery items are just too expensive, the parking lot is ridiculous & I get tired of the clerks, especially the males, calling me "my dear" & other overly familiar terms. I have shopped at Publix for over 20years and they have the best produce and sale QUALITY meat! This store is new, extremely clean and friendly employees. They have great buy one get one sales and bend over backwards to assist and make sure their patrons receive great customer service. Hell, shopped at Harris teeter when I graduated from undergrad and did not think it was expensive UNTIL..... I saw it through a mature woman's perspective and their meat prices are insanely expensive. Most items are the same price in most stores except the store branded items. I don't remember the taste of the HT brand but I vouch for the publix brand is very delicious, fresh and affordable. I bought a Wal-mart brand of corn flakes and it taste like crap!!!! I like a calmness of the store and enjoy they cook most every day and offer new ideas through their 30min apron meals on site demo! Please, don't sleep on this store because of your own lack experience or knowledge of this big , stable company who cares about their employees fold because of the lack of brand recognition because of personal knowledge limit!!! Oh, and you can complain all day about a price here and there but I don't like to eat food cause it's cheap but because it's Quality and feel sorry for someone trying to save 30cent.
