This grocery store and gas station took over the space vacated by the very briefly present Wal-Mart convenience store, and is a huge improvement over that atrocity. Walking in, the improvements over the Wal-Mart are easy to see. Attractive interior that doesn't feel overstuffed. A large variety of fresh foods and meats. There is even a small bakery and deli counter where you can order sandwiches to go. One of the best parts of this location, however, is that they have quite an impressive beer selection (wine, too)! You'll find everything from standard domestics all the way up to local, state, and larger craft brews. I picked up a 6 pack of "Not your Mother's Iced Tea" because who doesn't want to sip on a cold tea laced with a bit of alcohol while lazing on the beach?? This place really packs a lot of great services into their smaller location. They also double as a gas station, propane retailer, and red box movie stop. Be sure and support the pig when you're in town, so we don't have to drive all the way to Bayboro to get groceries again!

I emailed them, expressing my interest in a few items. While I didn't expect a response until they were open, Fran invited me to stop by anyway (we had already departed the OBX). She was kind enough to process our order and ship it safely and securely to us. Again, all before they opened for the season! We were so very pleased with our purchases and the kind service. This continued today when Fran realized that they had charged us twice for our order, something I hadn't realized. She had issued a refund as soon as she learned about this and emailed me the receipt. Again, what an exceptional level of Customer service. They display a bunch of unique snacks and food, in addition to a plethora of wines, beer and champagne. But the real gem is the case at the front of the store next to the register that holds the HUGE homemade truffles. I did not get a picture of them all because I ate them too quickly, but I got the banana split, the pb fudge, strawberry something or other and they all were fantastic. I probably wouldn't venture here at night alone, but during the day, it had all of the things we needed: paper towels, ice, and some snacks.
