Baker's Dozen has the best donuts in the Triangle area, hands down. We came across this little shop quite by accident - we stopped to get gas and decided to explore this hole-in-the-wall donut shop. We are so glad we did! We usually get half a dozen donuts, which costs $5.50. They have traditional yeasted donuts as well as cake donuts. Some of our favorites include the blueberry cake donut, the cinnamon sugar cake donut, the old fashioned and the buttermilk donut. Really - you can't go wrong. Every single donut we have tried has been delicious. We've heard from regulars that the bear claws are really good, though we have yet to try them because they are often sold out by the time we get the shop on weekends. If you want to have the best selection, I recommend that you visit as early as possible in the morning. They open at 5:30 AM. We highly recommend Baker's Dozen and can't wait to visit again soon.

I first encountered Baker's Dozen at the Raleigh Location on Capital Boulevard when I was in a pinch and needed to pick up doughnuts for work for my team. It reminded me of Davis Doughnuts in Durham that was a staple in the community when I was a kid but it's been closed for some time. The doughnuts are like pillows of yumminess. They're soft, fluffy and heavenly. These are by far the best doughnuts in town and highly recommend them to any doughnut lover.

    Quite the lineup.

Only one word comes to mind and that is "supreme", When I think of the dough, glaze, and fluffy cream. The Bakers Dozen doughnuts are the product of dreams, I had so much drool, my clothes needed a steam. I couldn't believe a place this good was attached to a gas station. It's the definition of a true hidden gem. Bakers Dozen had the best glazed old fashioned doughnuts that I have ever tasted. They were moist with a great texture, and bursting with sweet, satisfying flavor. The raised doughnuts were ok too, and the coffee had a nice, robust aroma and taste. This is going to be a "must stop" for me every time I visit Durham.

Truly amazing donuts, far better than KrispyKreme! You would never think it inside the gas station, but they're fantastic!

Best apple fritters I've ever tasted. Everything is great. Cinnamon rolls close second to fritters.

They have the standard types of donuts (glazed, chocolate frosted, vanilla frosted, strawberry frosted, fritters, filled, etc.) Most of the filled donuts are filled to order as you can choose from different types of custard or fillings (Bavarian, white, strawberry, etc.) The donuts are fairly good and for the most part pretty good the only issue is that they run out pretty early. The apple fritters here are massive. They aren't the greatest (I prefer a more crispy outside and doughy inside with lots of apples) but the size alone makes it worth it. The only problem is they sell out really fast so if you're not there before a certain time you'll be SOL. I haven't tried the savory breakfast options but they do look fairly good. The service can range from good to not so great as sometimes you do feel ignored or you feel like you're troubling the staff be being there. I like how they have a retro Street Fighter 2 arcade inside that you can play for free. There is seating inside and a few tables outside. I would go more often but if I can't get there before say 8a - 9a I probably wouldn't bother.

I've seen this place many times but I didn't really know much except that the noodles were pretty and that was the case but also, there's a large pastry case inside with a good selection of cakes and delicious sweets. Good to know... Because of the wintry weather they created a special SnowMan menu which was really original by my opinion. It's tight inside. The tables are really close together, which is a good thing because as a Foodie I love to see what the others choose and chat with them. So that's what we did- the table next to us told us they recommended the Rice Porridge Bowl and the Belt Noodles. We can definitely call this kind of cuisine comfort food, especially during this chilly weather. Fun fact, my spouse took a little bit of my rice porridge to mix with the rest of her bowl to counter the spicy broth and the flavors were matchee so well. I did the same, taking broth from her noodle bowl to add to my porridge and it was so good. If you come if for the first try doing the same and tell us what you think. We immensely enjoyer the flavors, especially the fresh touch of the cilantro on top of the savory mushrooms. I would like to know more about the origin of this business because I think it's really original. After lunch, we were too tempted by the pastries and we left with a chocolate galette, a slice of peanut butter caramel chocolate cake, and an apple cidern mochi cake. Currently, it's 10PM and there's 1 left cake for tomorrow...only the apple cider mochi cake is left to try...we will see if it survives the night lol They make their own chili oil in house. 5 stars for sure !!! Thanks for the wonderful lunch. We will be back!

We've also had several unfriendly servers who make you feel like you're imposing on them / it's your fault when they bring out wrong food. I'm pleased with Rise's pricing, regular coupon offers for loyalty members, and a reward point system that's easy to track. They've recently sent out coupons in those coupon clipper mailers and I found they carry great value. This Rise location (like their location in Chapel Hill) caters primarily to takeout clients. There are some bar tables and outdoor patio seats if you want to eat on site. I'm a takeout client myself (as I hinted above) and prefer building on top of what I order. Rise's biscuits can't be beat. They are flaky, fluffy, and reheat well. My tips for reheating: - Microwave: Lightly sprinkle water on the open faces of your biscuit (not the hard crust) and cover before microwaving. - Air fryer: Use the "Reheat" setting and reheat your biscuit at 325º for 4-5 minutes.
