My sister told me about this place and it's PHENOMENAL!! The donuts are airy and so so fluffy. The fillings were homemade and so perfectly delicious. The ladies working got you in and out, but were very kind and appreciative. Very genuinely think it's worth a drive no matter where you live in the Triangle!! It is an unassuming, unexpected little shop attached to a gas station, which further adds to the uniqueness of the shop. In addition, the donuts are light, fluffy, and fresh, and the jelly-filled donuts are fruity- the most delicious donuts I have had in a longtime! We drove 16 miles to this location thinking how can a Donut Shop get a 5.0 rating? My friend had her doubts giving me an earful on the drive how it will likely disappoint. Bottom line, she says the Maple Old Fashioned was the best she ever had. I'll add we left with a mix of 9 donuts and every single one was delicious beyond compare. This place is decent. The donuts are delicious however the staff could be a little more friendly and lesser focused on rushing you to get out. The location is right inside the same building as the Shell has station. It's convenient and since there's not other donut places close by I guess they have the monopoly. Baker's Dozen has the best donuts in the Triangle area, hands down. We came across this little shop quite by accident - we stopped to get gas and decided to explore this hole-in-the-wall donut shop. We are so glad we did! We usually get half a dozen donuts, which costs $5.50. They have traditional yeasted donuts as well as cake donuts. Some of our favorites include the blueberry cake donut, the cinnamon sugar cake donut, the old fashioned and the buttermilk donut. Really - you can't go wrong. Every single donut we have tried has been delicious. We've heard from regulars that the bear claws are really good, though we have yet to try them because they are often sold out by the time we get the shop on weekends. If you want to have the best selection, I recommend that you visit as early as possible in the morning. They open at 5:30 AM. We highly recommend Baker's Dozen and can't wait to visit again soon. read more

This is the best donut shop around. My neighbors used to say Carolina Glazed Donuts was better but I had them a long time ago and wasn't that impressed. I don't eat donuts much but I had a craving today and went to Carolina Glazed just to make sure I didn't get it wrong back then. I was pretty disappointed to say the least. This donut shop beside a gas station (I KNOW!!) is a little slice of bakery heaven on Wake Forest Rd in Durham! If you want bear claws that are the size of your face or blueberry cake donuts that melt in your mouth, this is the perfect place. It is a surprise location. Nestled in between the weird lottery place and a gas station. The donut was good. My friend loved the filled one. The jelly filled was filled on the spot. Price was pretty sweet. Not pretentiously silly like someone I know in Raleigh who has the nerve to try and sell a single donut for 4+ freaking dollars. I first encountered Baker's Dozen at the Raleigh Location on Capital Boulevard when I was in a pinch and needed to pick up doughnuts for work for my team. It reminded me of Davis Doughnuts in Durham that was a staple in the community when I was a kid but it's been closed for some time. The doughnuts are like pillows of yumminess. Hear a lot of good things about this donut place at a gasoline station. When I came there was a couple of people before me and when I left there were a couple of people waiting. The donut filled they filled it after I picked the donut. The lady took her time and for a dozen I got one free....and so the name. The bread is soft and moist not thick like cake. It's a donut so expect it to be sweet. I got different kinds of donut filled lemon, strawberry, Bavarian and regular donut. So these are the things you should know. It's like a hole in the wall, the area looks sketchy but it's not just looks run down. If your used to Krispy Kreme the inside isn't like that. The 12 donuts I got was almost $16 dollars save a few cents. I got my donuts around 2pm and their almost out if the filled ones. read more

The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because it's attached to a Shell station/convenience store, so there isn't really anywhere to sit if you wanted to eat there. Parking can sometimes be an issue and traffic can be really bad on Highway 98. It can be nearly impossible to get out of the parking lot when school is letting out!
