Yummy! Apple fritter and raspberry jam donuts were really good. Maple was good. Cruller was solid, not great.

Best donuts in the triangle hands down. This place is not an overhyped influencer spot. Just great donuts, great price, great people.

Came in on Saturday for some donuts and coffee to get my day in Durham started. This is so easy:…read more service: awesome! Coffee: awesome! Donuts (glazed and chocolate iced): if not the best donuts I've ever had in my life, easily in the top 3. Treat yourself!

Early Bird Donuts is a small donut shop that offers donuts, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and other…read morepastries. They have the standard types of donuts (glazed, chocolate frosted, vanilla frosted, strawberry frosted, fritters, filled, etc.) Most of the filled donuts are filled to order as you can choose from different types of custard or fillings (Bavarian, white, strawberry, etc.) The donuts are fairly good and for the most part pretty good the only issue is that they run out pretty early. The apple fritters here are massive. They aren't the greatest (I prefer a more crispy outside and doughy inside with lots of apples) but the size alone makes it worth it. The only problem is they sell out really fast so if you're not there before a certain time you'll be SOL. I haven't tried the savory breakfast options but they do look fairly good. The service can range from good to not so great as sometimes you do feel ignored or you feel like you're troubling the staff be being there. I like how they have a retro Street Fighter 2 arcade inside that you can play for free. There is seating inside and a few tables outside. I would go more often but if I can't get there before say 8a - 9a I probably wouldn't bother.

The line is always long and it moves relatively quickly. Love sitting outside. Great ambiance. This…read moreplace runs like a well-oiled machine. This was my third time there. I always want the fish sandwich but they don't have the fish I want (picky! ). My son got the chicken sandwich which was really great. The bun was so fresh. My FIL got the Benedict. It was huge. Fruit cups all around. Huge chunks of pineapple. My son and I got the lemonade spritz. It was too sweet me but my son enjoyed both of ours.

I still love the fruit tart - good texture and mix of sweet and slightly tart. The macaron and elephant ear was pretty good. The macaron had good flavor and texture. Elephant ears tasted good, though I would've preferred more layers and more of a crisp. Lemon poppy danish was the standard danish. I sadly wasn't as impressed by the cream puff and eclair dough. I know they make their pastries fresh every day but on a busy Saturday at 10:30 am, the eclair dough didn't taste fresh and was not as light and airy as I hoped. Cream puff was ok. The dough was also meh. BUT the focaccia was amazing!! It was on-sale day old bread but had great flavor and was soft on the inside and slightly crispy in the outside. All in all, for what's in the area and restaurant's atmosphere, it's still worth the trip.

I really wanted to like this place. But they came up a little short - and it may not be entirely…read moretheir fault. First the positives; the shop is spotless and bright and colorful. It's got a happy vibe. Second, I like the footprint of the store. You can see the whole process from beginning to end. Third, the shop owner and employees were incredible nice and helpful. Now the negatives. This is a franchise. Because of that, the owners have to live and die by the equipment that they are required to use. And that is most of the problem here. The donuts are unremarkable. While I really do appreciate that the base of the donuts are cake mix, the fryers are woefully inadequate to cook the donuts properly. It's almost as if the oil temperature is too low to give the donuts a nice crispy exterior. The result is a slightly soggy, undercooked donut that falls apart when you handle it. It should be firm enough to support the toppings and actually make it to your mouth without falling apart. Next is the topping issue. The syrupy topping is put on top of the already soggy donut and the whole thing becomes a sticky mess when you try to pick it up and it falls apart. The last thing is the menu. I do enjoy the variety of toppings that they offer. But the menu picture suggests that they have vanilla and chocolate cake donuts, so I order one donut that I believed to be a chocolate cake base and it wasn't. I watched the cooking process and there were only vanilla cake donuts being made. So not getting what is advertised is a big negative. With all that said, I want this little shop to succeed and I hope that they take the necessary steps to tweak their process without getting in trouble with the franchiser. But if they don't change soon, I fear for their future. They seem like very nice people who deserve to succeed!

I am a regular Rise patron and rewards member for several years. I love their selection of…read morebreakfast and brunch options. I usually order a biscuit and save half for a second meal. When I order a box, I order it plain and then add my own fixings at home. My box creations can make up to three meals. I've begun adding my own fixings to their biscuits too. I'm pleased with Rise's pricing, regular coupon offers for loyalty members, and a reward point system that's easy to track. They've recently sent out coupons in those coupon clipper mailers and I found they carry great value. This Rise location (like their location in Chapel Hill) caters primarily to takeout clients. There are some bar tables and outdoor patio seats if you want to eat on site. I'm a takeout client myself (as I hinted above) and prefer building on top of what I order. Rise's biscuits can't be beat. They are flaky, fluffy, and reheat well. My tips for reheating: - Microwave: Lightly sprinkle water on the open faces of your biscuit (not the hard crust) and cover before microwaving. - Air fryer: Use the "Reheat" setting and reheat your biscuit at 325º for 4-5 minutes.
