Me and my boyfriend heard about the pizza and pints on Thursday nights so we decided to try it out. The special starts at 4 and we got there around 4:30 and it wasn't busy at all so that was nice. They have 4 different options for the $5 pizzas, I got pepperoni and my boyfriend got the Bianca. They had 2 different beer options for the $3 pints. My boyfriend got their smart mouth option which he liked and I opted for the peach sangria even though it wasn't part of the special or happy hour. It was worth the $7 though, light and refreshing. Our pizzas came pretty quick. They were good but a little on the greasy side. The crust was light and tasty. Our server was great, friendly and attentive. They also have a case of pastries and pies. I got a cheesecake on a stick to go. It was good but not worth the $7 it cost. Overall we were satisfied with our experience and will definitely be back! read more

I work downtown so I frequently visit. My favorite part of the menu is the selection of sandwiches, soups and salads that you can mix and match for a combo. The staff is friendly, and the happy hour is 7 days a week. During my last visit, my waitress Alyssa got me to try the shrimp street tacos for the first time and they were amazing. Their outside patio is nice but sometimes the passing trains can be a pain. Also definitely one of the smaller Bakers Crust locations, sometimes the wait time can be a bit high for brunch but the service and food make up for it. read more

This is my first trip to Baker's Crust and I was in the mood for takeout. Specifically, I was looking for a good salad to-go. I ordered the summer peach salad, the warm spinach salad with bacon, and the American Kobe beef hamburger with shoestring fries. I split all of the food with a friend. All three items were very good. Baker's Crust has been a delight to have in our back yard. My girlfriend and I frequent this little place of paradise. We slip over there for a quick bite almost every weekend and the occasional weeknight. The food always satifies. There are no complaints on this side. The hostess is always willing to guide us (to what we call OUR table). I can't say enough about the food and atmosphere. I really do love it there and the food is always great. Went with a group of 10 and were quickly seated outside. Flies were a nuisance and they had no fans/ candles to keep them away. Had there palomodo chicken dish which was good. Also enjoyed their crepe w/ coconut, strawberry , and chocolate. Lastly our waiter was excellent and worked with our group when it came to payment. Looking forward to more of their crepes. read more

We tried this place the other night and were pleasantly surprised. I usually really dislike being sat at small tables right in the middle of the floor, however this location was set up just so, so that even though we were right out in the open, it was very comfortable and didn't feel awkward. I liked the ambiance of the place too. The vaulted ceiling had big skylights, so I can only imagine how nice the lighting is during the day. Our server was great (Ryan?) and the food was even better. Their house-made chips were delicious. When we received our check, I was surprised at the total given the fact that we had drinks, an appetizer, and desert. Great prices! Overall, I will definitely be coming here again. My only complaint is that our clothes and coats smelled pretty heavily of "restaurant" when we got home. read more

I have eaten at one in Richmond on Cary street and it was soso and this place on 21st street is the same just soso. I had an omelet and it was ok and the diced potatoes were just ok nothing really popped. Will I be back I doubt it there are so many other places to try. I've been here twice, once for breakfast and once for Wednesday street taco night. Both times the service was great and the food was delicious. For breakfast I had the West Coast omelette with cinnamon raisin toast. Can't remember when I last had cinnamon raisin toast and it was perfect. They also have a variety of mimosas and Bloody Mary so you can brunch it up. The shrimp and fish tacos were both awesome! Big pieces of shrimp (not fried) so I felt healthy...except we got the Beer Cheese Fries as a starter. Oh well, those were amazing also. Our second time there our server was apparently very busy so after waiting a bit for someone to come by, the hostess and manager ended up taking care of us and did a great job, so I have no complaints there. It's a great ambiance and the smells are delicious. I plan to go back to try out a lot more menu items that look super delish, including the lava cake. read more

We went for Sunday brunch, and it was very nice. My husband and I weren't starving, so we got muffins (blueberry, zucchini pineapple), grits, and fruit. Coffee was hit and good, and my husband had a well prepared hot chocolate. Grits were very creamy, and both muffins were food. The servers were all very nice, and we didn't have to wait long at all. Last night was the first time my party of 3 visited. The food was good. The waitress needs additional coaching/education in her job. We had to ask for silverware, plates to put our shared appetizer on, and straws. Asked for Bud light, were told you didn't have it, then saw it advertised at the bar and verified by the bartender that you do sell it and got one from him. I asked for cocktail sauce when I ordered my food, had to ask a 2nd time then to be told you don't carry it. She had a very bland personality and needed to smile. This is a cute little spot in Ghent. Its hidden in a shopping area but its usually still very busy. I had to post this time about a special they had. It was a pear and goat cheese bruschetta. OMG! We love the sun but direct afternoon sun is just uncomfortable. We really wanted to make this Mother's Day special but we were really disappointed. Things have changed since my last review, which was in 2013. Now...the staff is constantly changing, quality is down, "make it yourself breakfast" is a disaster with confusion and the bill is always wrong, takes forever to make our easy breakfast in an empty of customers restaurant. Revisited BC in Ghent. Compared to my last visit, this was disappointing. Our waiter was really spacy and not very attentive. Food was substandard I ordered country ham and turkeys w/o tomato; my partner ordered a turkey club. Too many up charges for side orders that's not potato based (chips, fries, shoestring fries, sweet potato fries-- enough!). We skipped the $4 extra for the side salad because it's a ridiculous price. My sandwich was served dry and had no flavor. Chips came with parmigiana cheese on top... cute but unimpressive. Waiter offered desert to my partner but passed me over. Why even go? After a few visits to the Baker's Crust in Ghent, I wonder why it continues to stay open. Our first visit was mediocre and the service was sketchy at best. But it's one of the few places that has baked goods and tables to enjoy them around here. So we gave it another shot. I had to order 3 desserts before there was actually one available for me to eat. Backup desserts are apparently hard to bake. And then to top it all off, I was charged over $3 for an 8oz glass of milk. For a few cents more I could get a gallon! And this most recent trip we were charged for dessert before the cashier even checked availability. And then when a refund was needed the manager took more than 10 minutes to show up at the counter to issue it. And when she arrived, she was less than gracious or helpful. I'll be taking our money elsewhere and starting a new search for decent service, desert and atmosphere. read more

Nice presentation and decor. I was in a large group and they were very accommodating. We had a great waitress. The food was really good (I had pancakes), which was markedly different (and better) than your normal IHOP-type restaurants. A terrific place for breakfast. read more

Bathrooms in this location are just plain gross. I don't understand how the owners don't see this. If the public spaces in a restaurant are dirty, what does that mean for the kitchen/food storage areas that we can't see? I want to love it here but I get the feeling this place is running on autopilot and needs a fresh infusion of care and commitment. I do love a french fry but not when it comes with a side of fried plastic wrap- that's right- deep fried plastic wrap served right alongside the crispy potatoes. This place was obviously a labor of love at one time but it feels a bit sad and neglected now. Wood-fired pizza is good, Manhattan Pastrami Sandwich tasty- a lot of Sysco product going on otherwise and the above-mentioned dirty bathrooms and inattention to the product being served. read more

I would have given Bakers Crust a zero star rating if that was an option. The food was terrible, the service was horrible, and it was way over priced. I ordered the chicken and waffle. When it finally came out the waffle looked and tasted like something that came from a box with the name Eggo on it. The chicken on top was one tiny piece of over cook fried chicken tender. They will never get my business again and I make it a point to tell all my friends to never go there. read more

Ok. So I have been going to Baker's crust for 15 years. I moved out of the area but, I come back a few times a year to visit. Each time, it gets worse and worse. Since I am only in town a few times a year, I thought " hey, they are having a bad night....." Well, that is not the situation. 1) when I went there last October. I found a huge bag of drugs in the bathroom. I kid u not. I'm talking bad stuff, Coke. I got the manager and showed it to her. My guess is that it fell out of someone's pants . The manger did not know what to do. I told her to call the cops and report it. She says " i don't have time for this", picks up the bag and flushes it. Come in! That goes into our water supply! 2) The staff really suck. None of my food came out as ordered. 3) The staff spend their time having social hour with each other. It is like watching tweens at the mall shopping and hanging out with their buddies. 4) Slow slow service! 5) It is so noisy! Spend $200 and put in some artistic batting material or pillows. I couldn't hear my friend that was only sitting across the table from me. 6) Nasty menus! Get new ones or ones you can at least clean. God only knows what death germ is breeding in those menus! 7) Here's the best part! We sat down to eat. They never brought us bread. They used to always do that, after waiting 20 min. I got annoyed and asked the waitress: she said " o.....we only do that if someone's asks for it....." Ummm Hello? Isn't this a bakery? When we got the bread, they brought it out in a basket. It was French bread that the girl had ripped into 3 chunks, with her hands... Yuck and 3 , 1/2" packets of butter.... Sadly, I will no longer try to go there.
