I have never been to the Baker's Best Cafe but I order from Bakers Best regularly for catering at work. I am surprised at the actual reviews. As far as the catering goes, they are top notch. The food is beautifully prepared and arranged. The salads are fresh crispy and colorful. I recently ordered the salad toppers and everyone at work loved it. I highly recommend Bakers Best for your catering needs. read more

This place has reliably delicious sandwiches, really first rate. Yes they are not cheap and I can't say for sure whether they're "worth the price," but given that there's no comparable alternative nearby, I'd have to say yes. Yes it's full of the Newton crowd, but what do you expect? To me, they are a hair beneath Darwin's in Cambridge, but still among my favorite wholesome quality foods in the area that you can get quickly or on the run. Eating there is OK too although I think there's something screwed up with their feng shui because I never really feel comfortable there. Everything I've had here has been in the range of good to great. Then again, I've never eaten their catering, only in-house. read more

Superb service, lovely atmosphere, and quick and easy food. I love coming here to meet friends with kids it's a great place. The food is delicious. I love their fries and sandwiches. I admit a bit pricey but well worth it to enjoy the atmosphere. read more

Catered to our office; especially delicious pecan pastry and pretty delicious seafood mini sandwiches!

I use their catering services for work a few times a month. They are incredibly reliable and very nice to work with. Their delivery people are super friendly and courteous. I've never had a problem them and they cover all of the basics with their food. To get the really yummy stuff - order from their seasonal menu. They have specialty sandwiches listed there and it's definitely worth the small increase in price. read more

I had heard only good things about this establishment. After having moved to the area I was looking forward to trying it. I ordered roasted 1/2 chicken dinners for take out one night. The price was fine at $8.95 each. The flavor of the chicken ( marinade?) was excellent. However, they were a bit undercooked, some of the leg/thigh meat was red/pink. The side dishes were adequate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately two of their plastic takeout dishes were not hefty enough and cracked which made quite a mess in my take out bag. read more

My company uses Baker's Best to cater all of our big events. They have never let us down. The food is out of this world! They are always on time, and they are professional and reliable. Food matters when you host a big client--it's fodder for conversation at lunch, and it's a nice break for people who have been in meetings all day. We have always been impressed with what Baker's Best has to offer. And they think of everything so you don't have to! read more

I love Bakers Best, have been going there for years because of the consistently good, fresh food. Nothing compares with Bakers' chicken, uniformly excellent, regardless of its preparation, so good that I once called the kitchen to ask how to test for doneness of some chicken I was making for salad. They answered helpfully and brilliantly and my chicken salad has been "Bakers Best" ever since. Besides all that, wonderful young people whom we know have worked there happily. Love the place. Get the idea? But, yesterday, disappointment of the unnecessary variety, which prompts the review. It was jammed late on a Sat morning, nice day, lots going on in our beloved Newton so no surprise at the crowds. We decided to wait the estimated 15 minutes and didn't even mind when it stretched to 30. When we were seated, however, we were ushered to the back near the bathrooms, even though there were two tables open in the front by the windows. We asked to take one of those. "Sorry, I have to fill these tables," we were told. Asked again. No luck. Three times a charm, right? Uhn-uh. Who wants to sit in the back when there are tables open in the front? Makes no sense. We left. Sorry, Bakers, you deserve 5Stars but, if you keep people waiting 30 minutes, give them the table they want and seat those who just walk in the door in the back. read more

This place has great food. However, one day when we came in for Sunday brunch, I was seated under the a/c unit and got dripped on. We requested to move, which was fine. But as the place filled up the hostess continued to put people under the drip. And then finally the place was sooo busy, the poor person just had to sit under the drip. The place has WAY too many tables in a small area, so when staff and patrons move around, you are constantly moving your seat. Get take out and eat in the comfort of your own home. read more

We use Bakers Best as our go to for corporate catering. The deliveries are always prompt within their 30 minute windows, almost always arriving within the first 5 minutes of the delivery window. The delivery men are always helpful in setting up and ensuring everything is delivered as ordered. The food is always fresh and delicious! We trust Bakers Best for casual lunch meetings all the way to board meetings of investors. I have nothing bad to say about the staff or their food! For Veterans day we wanted to do something special for all our employees who are vets and Bakers Best even provided us a tray of cookies for free for the event! They are great! read more

This is always my go-to for catering! Sarah is awesome, always accommodates me in a last minute pinch. The food is fabulous and everyone loves it! My favorite is the avocado salad, Thai noodle salad, salmon and chicken platters. Delivery is super reliable and prices are reasonable! read more

Baker's Best is one of the best deli's, bakeries and prepared food establishments in the Boston area. It is always busy, and so well staffed service is basically immediate. For breakfast, lunch, dinner, or to take out sandwiches or bring home fully prepared meals it really can't be beat. My favorite, the turkey club. The owner, Michael Baker has two locations, and has been in business for years and years. read more

Baker's Best was the perfect choice to cater our function for a group of 70 friends ranging in age. Carol was wonderful to work with and helped me navigate the variety of foods on the menu for our family members with various allergies and preferences. She responded to emails and phone messages promptly, and was terrific at guiding us with the amount of each item. Everything arrived just when they said it would. We had a lovely assortment of items and the food was delicious. We had lots of compliments from our guests. read more

We went her with 2 friends and our 8 month old daughter at noon on a Sunday. When we gave them our name the wait was 40 minutes and the place was VERY packed. We waited it out and I am very glad we did. The host was wonderful and made sure to give us a great round table in the back that would give us room for our daughter and her high chair. He mentioned how he thought this would be the perfect table for us and he knew how hard it is to have kids. What a nice guy! I got the caramel apple cider and the stuffed waffles (banana and blueberried with fresh strawberries on top). Yumm. Our waiter was quite good and even brought a roll for my daughter to keep her busy. The only reason this restaurant isn't getting 5 stars (even though service was definately 5 stars) was because one of my friends had egg shells in her lox benedict. I would normally take more off for that but they won me over. And I didn't even get to try their baked goods because the youngest member of our party decided she didn't think we needed any and that we needed to leave. So we did. Next time maybe! read more

Went here shortly after opening time on a Sunday for breakfast. The place is cool looking, and the options are pretty good. I got some sorta combo with a funny name that came with eggs, bacon, pancakes, homefries, and toast. No complaints, and the server was very nice. A little pricey, but hey that's what one might expect from a place like this in Newton, right? read more

Best lox benedict ever. Well worth the long wait for brunch line. Also a nice place to go for cookies and hot chocolate in the afternoon. But I just want to go back there for the lox benedict. read more

It's slightly overpriced, but dependably good cafe/bakery food. I love the soups for savory and lemon bars for sweet.

I want to update to say that I was back at BB yesterday and saw the samples of fries prepared properly from the batch of fries. The owner was table-hopping, really friendly and making sure everyone was ok. So while the first incident did happen, perhaps it's not happening anymore. read more

First time ordering from a caterer. I was so nervous about not knowing how much food to order and never having tasted their food. I called/emailed several times & each person was so patient and explained everything in detail. Well the day came & the food was FANTASTIC!!! I ordered a couple of flatbread pizzas; jumbo shrimp; satay tenderloin bites, chicken dumplings & mini whoopie pumpkin pies....DELICIOUS...and the dipping sauces were so yummy!!!! My friends are "foodies" and they kept saying - "wow, I'm impressed, everything is so delicious"....I'm not a good liar and they all know I hate to cook - so even though I was going to TRY and play it off for a while & say I cooked it - it was too obvious - no non-cook could ever prepare such a summptuous spread - so I just told them I used Baker's Best LOL. read more

LOVE their tuna salad!!! They are finally coming up with different ideas. For a while there, it seemed liked they hadnt changed their menu in years. I wish they were still open in the evening though. It was a nice place to stop by on your way home from work when you didnt feel like cooking. Their sweets are awesome too! read more

Do not use this caterer for any important event in your life. I hired this caterer to do a job not to have to teach them their job!

The idea of customer service and focusing on the customer is lost by this company. For holiday catering, last year they imposed new minimum order sizes, and stopped allowing pickup, replacing it with an expensive delivery charge; now they have stopped doing holiday catering at all. Not a feel good experience to be their customer. read more

We used Bakers' Best for catering at our wedding nearly 2 years ago, and people are still talking about the food. We wanted to do something unique for food and wanted to stray from the wedding food we are so used to consuming. Baker's Best worked with us to create the perfect menu - we had tastings at a couple of caterers and there was no competition. Even my very finicky parents (sorry, mom) were blown away. They worked with us to create the perfect sushi stations, tapas stations, mashed potato bar with all sorts of toppings, passed h'ordeuvres that were absolutely fantastic. They made sure there were adequate vegetarian options, and they made suggestions and modifications when we weren't so sure what we wanted. The staff there went above and beyond to make sure we were happy, and executed our event without a hitch. I would highly recommend them for any event - both the food and customer service relieved a lot of the stress that comes along with planning a wedding, and made the event even more memorable for our guests! read more
