I've been to several catered events from here, and almost always the food is fantastic. Good vegan options and well labelled. Yesterday I attended an event with boxed lunches. There was one vegan/gluten free option, which was a veggie hummus wrap. The wrap was decent and came with a small vegan/gf dessert too, however inside the box they also included a packet of mayonnaise which was not vegan. Not sure if it was a mistake or intentional, but either way I don't think it should have been in there. read more

We've used Baker's Best a few times now to feed 100+ people in our office. Today we used them at multiple locations to feed about 800 employees and they knocked it out of the park!!! They designed an awesome menu catering to a variety of dietary restrictions, the food arrived on time (during flash food conditions), and all of our employees were extremely complimentary. I'm going to give Baker's Best 2 (2.5 if I could) stars ONLY because the cappuccino was decent, europeanesque in taste, however, nothing fancy, whatsoever and definitely over-priced . There was ample seating, which is nice. No wi-fi though? These are the modern days and a coffee shop as "commercialized" such as this should at least have wi-fi and stay open later than 6pm, which It does not. The people were friendly enough, but it was weird taking a "number" & waiting for it to be called before ordering...It almost felt like a cafeteria. There appeared to be plenty of choices insofar as food, but it sort of had a "starbucksian" type feel to it. We use Bakers' Best for many work events, typically breakfasts and lunches. Several times, we have given them the wrong time (or had to change at the last minute) and they have come through for us! That should be enough for our un-organized selves, but lets talk about the food! We often request the same things for our meals, we love their giant quiches (can be made crust free for Gluten Free folks) which come in many flavors (cheese, lorraine, broccoli and feta, etc). For lunch, we like their soups but the winner is the Cobb salad. They serve a large thing of plain romaine, and next to is is a plate filled with steak, chicken, cheeses, bacon, veggies, pickled onions, so you can build your own salad. I also like their Green Goddess dressing but i have had many others. Last night we had Bakers' Best cater our holiday party. We customized the original menu they sent us and chose a bunch of different items. It was a hit. Grilled shrimp on a cucumber, bacon wrapped scallops with a sweet glaze, pulled chicken on a corn bread bite, and all other sorts of tasty treats. One popular station was the "tater tot bar" with cones filled with tots, and different sauces to put on top. We also enjoyed the cheese plate. Best catering in the area. I suggesting using them to my last company and we used them the entire three years I was there. Now at my new company, I'll do the same. Not only is the food amazing, the staff from the front desk, to the kitchen, back of the house, to delivery drivers and management treat each other with respect and like family. I attended an event hosted at Baker's Best for the Boston Brunchers. We had a fantastic time on the facility tour, chatting up the employees, and nibbling on creative, scrumptious bites! They invited us in for complimentary tour and elaborate, innovative brunch along with the Boston Globe. It is a fun work environment for the entire team and they work long, exhausting hours all in the name of fabulous food. They put together everyday box lunches, but will dream up bacon cups with sweet potato hash, miso sesame cookie type cups, filling it with seared tuna, spicy mayo, etc. I will definitely interview them for my next catered event!! read more

We had used them prior to COVID about once a year and could always count on them, so I knew who to turn to for my husband's big birthday and moving party. Breakfast Sandwiches Part 3 Ok this one is a good solid tasting Breakfast Sandwich, I think this one is worthy for this list. The sandwitch is good size, mine was fairly thick and pretty tasty. If I could give a lower rating, I would. Harvard parents, avoid at all costs! Cambridge party organizers, skip this group that is poorly managed. They were hired by our group to cater a party at the Cambridge Boat House, it was a 3 hour party after dinner with dancing, but they started randomly cutting off guests from ordering drinks, including one host! Behavior that supports cutting someone off is always appreciated, but this was the worst judgement calling. The bartender used trips to the bar as her only source of information, even though the lovely graduates were just bringing a drink to their parents or guests that had just arrived! I've used Baker's Best for 2 small home events for about 20 people and once just for dessert over the past few years, including last weekend. The food is delicious, the presentations are beautiful and we've had more than enough to go around with their estimates of number of guests served. The customer service was friendly and helpful. I've been to hell and it's full of mid-30's to early- 40's soccer mom's lunching in the middle of a week day at a ridiculously overpriced gourmet cafe in Newton. (Note: my excuse for being there is that I was doing an errand nearby and hated to wait 30 minute for what I needed to be finished so I decided to grab lunch). Here's the lowdown on this place: - Lines and a very complex ordering system. They even gave me a "buzzer" like you get at Border Cafe. - Lots of blonde and lots of skinny. - Lots of snobbery and lots of diamond rings that could double as weapons. - Lots of women talk, talk, talking and barely touching the food on their plates. - Lots of beautiful yet overpriced food items - a boring sandwich that I ordered & picked up myself at the counter cost $10! - Lots of moms talking about their kids - but interestingly enough there were no kids in sight? (Can you say "NANNY") - Lots of conversations that went like this "Well, Libby really is rather bored with horse-riding camp and would like to try something more challenging this summer". This place gave me the shivers. Seriously. I'm not that far off in age from some of these women, and I'm about to get married. I may even have kids someday. But, I don't ever want to be like them! I literally texted my fiance' from inside this place and said "I am in Newton in snobby soccer mom hell. Please promise me I will never end up like this!" I hate that I really like their food, because their accountant is about as intelligent and useful as a moldy shoe. I have had terrible experiences with their billing department after catering a weeks worth of food in for corporate meetings. And after trying over and over to sort it out and assuring me everything had been straightened out she STILL couldn't get it right. How hard is it? My credit card is on file, charge card. Deliver food. The end. But apparently punching numbers into a machine is way too complex for this gifted soul. 4 stars for the food, 1 star for their idiotic accountant. I've had quite a bit of Baker's Best foods... my school LOVES to use them to cater lunches. 1) the sandwich roll-ups are uninspired. 2) cakes that have been ordered are dry, crumbly, and frosting is icky. Both birthday cakes fell apart (the layers crumbled apart from each other) b/c they failed to use actual frosting and used ALL fondant/marzipan. DISGUSTING. 3) Out of desperation, I have gone in to order a sandwich. I'm sorry if I'm interrupting your social time folks behind the counter, but could I please get my sandwich? And why bother taking down the order on an order form if they're not going to READ IT? I asked for the dressing/mustard on the side so it wouldn't sog up my sandwich-to- go. When I got to my sandwich later- no mustard, no dressing. no nothing. just a dry ass sandwich that I paid too much money for. Unless you are a starvin' marvin' go another three blocks on Walnut St and get something tastey at Whole Foods. ETA: maybe the catering leaves something to be desired. I absolutely LOVE this place. They have the greatest staff, awesome food selection and great service. I use them for work numerous times a month and I am never unsatisfied. The new facility that they opened in the Fall is so immaculate that you wonder if they are even really cooking food there! I can just give them a call, let them know what theme I am looking for and they go ahead and plan a delicious menu in my budget. And I am always willing to spend a little more on quality. There is no way this place is worth $50 for breakfast for 1 adult and 2 kids. Literally, I just walked out of there and looked at my bill. They charge $2.95 for a cup of coffee???? WHAT? Did they grind each bean by hand? $2.99 for an iced tea? I asked the waitress and she told me that yes, they jack up the prices on the weekend because, "they can." A small fruit cup that was 90% honey due melon was $3.50. At this point it's just insulting. I can get eggs anywhere and NOT be raked over the coals for things that cost them $.05 like a coffee or tea. Don't fall for the hype. Dissuaded from a planned visit to the crappy Dunkin' Donuts down the street, a friend suggested a detour to Bakers' Best. "It's a little spendy," i warned her, but it didn't really matter. To be honest, i'd only eaten baked goods from there before, all delicious. Cupcakes, cookies, all of which adhere to my deeply held belief that there is no such thing as too much frosting*. But this morning, i was hungry for something else, and a busy week of late nights, too much drinking, and inadequate dinners of potato chips or Guinness had caught up with me at last. Truly, i needed a sandwich. And better than letting Newton's worst Dunkie's scorch a croissant on my behalf, it was a good morning to aspire to a higher form of sandwich. Sure, it's meant to be a sit-down meal, but there's something splendidly decadent about paying $6.50 for a breakfast sandwich, foil-wrapped, in a paper bag. That's a lot of money, but it's also twice the sandwich that you'd get elsewhere. Fresh eggs, tasty sausage, and a fresh english muffin with wonderful quality ingredients, all piled high. Not for the morning commute unless you drive a Bentley and wear a bib, but on a wet Saturday morning? A good idea indeed. This place probably doesn't cater to drunks (okay, there's no probably about it--it's an expensive-stroller and yuppie progeny crowd for sure), but i'd be willing to bet that such a sandwich could wipe out a hangover in one bite. My office does nearly 100% of their catering with these guys - and whether it's breakfast, sandwiches for 10, or a feast for 100s, Baker's Best tends to be who we get to deilver. Their food is consistent, but that's not always a good thing. For sure, if I have a wrap or grilled chicken today, it tastes exactly like it did 2 years ago. But that's not great when it's a tray of chicken and white sauce slop that looks of prison food. Or their 'inventive' pizzas that are just grease sponges. So it's key to know what's good, and stick with those options. Sadly, since some of the 'bad' options are main courses, I sometimes need to venture out for my own grub. their spicy dijon dill mustard thingy is like crack, though. read more

I am absolutely head over heels in love with this place. Since there's really only one con, i'll start with that (i promise this will be overshadowed by the pros). Depending on what time you get there (mostly on the weekends), you will have to wait anywhere from 15-45 minutes. Pros: - Even while you're waiting, they give you coffee mugs (that you can just pay for once you've sat down and ordered/asked for the check) for you to get coffee/tea for since the station is right in the waiting area. - AMAZING food. I love good breakfast food and this is by far the best I've had (other than the Marriott brunch). If you're feeling extra saucy, try the French Toast. You wont be disappointed - When my friends and I went last Saturday, we were told it would be a 35 minute wait. 45 minutes later we weren't seated yet. When they finally did seat us, they gave us the table at the back that has privacy (it's enclosed by half moon walls) and the owner even came up to give us complimentary fries and fruits and apologized for the wait - Our waiter was very attentive in refilling our water and coffee mugs. Our food came relatively fast too - All this at an incredibly reasonable price I strongly suggest going here. Although if you're hungry and it's anywhere between 11-1 pm on a weekend, make sure to have a light snack first to tide you over because you might be waiting a while. My Company Contant Contact ordered catering from this company. We received Chicken, Salmon and Falafal. The food was served cold and had to be reheated. Already this was a sign of crappy food. I decided to try and the chicken. How can you go wrong with chicken? Bakers Best definitely messed it all up. The chicken was so damn dry. It was like eating sand paper. They probably reheated this over and over again until the moisture of the chicken dried all up and they had the nerve to serve it cold. Never heard of this place til the weekend. A friend and I came here for Sunday brunch, and it was pretty packed for 11: 30! They have the bakery and take out area in the middle of the store and towards the back is waiter service. I had the turkey bacon and challah french toast with seasonal fruit, along with freshly squeezed OJ and tea. My friend had the tuna salad and cafe mocha. Our waitress was a little loopy (no spoons for the hot drinks) but that was so minor. Food was great! Giant portions and very well cooked. I would come back over and over if I lived nearby. It was crowded and busy, and the staff seemed a little overwhelmed, as evidenced by a few wrong items delivered to our table. I had the turkey club. It was ok. Other members of my party had a salmon salad (tasted too "fishy"), chicken cobb wrap (nothing special - the lack of blue cheese flavoring made this just a regular chicken salad wrap), and a thai chicken wrap (nice kick, but a little sloppy). I paid $15 for a turkey club, side of fries and can of soda. Baker's Best was ok and a little pricey. The desserts looked great - so maybe next time we'll stick to spending our money on that. read more

This place gets all the stars based on the deliciousness of the brunch I just ate. While there's usually a line out the door on weekends, we were sneaky and went on Labor Day weekend to avoid crowds. I had challah French toast ($8.50), which was honestly the best I've ever had. Crispy outside, doughy and soft inside, sweetened with REAL maple syrup and served with a fruit salad and sprig of fresh mint. Boyfriend had the "country breakfast" of eggs, home fries, meat and English muffin. Although this is a standard breakfast, he said that it stood out for having lots of peppers and onions in the fries and very good sausages. Plus, English muffin isn't always a standard toast option. My coffee was really good -- smooth and not at all acidic. I think it was illy brand. Elliot's grapefruit juice was pink, pulpy, and tasted fresh-squeezed. Service was fine -- we were seated quickly and our waitress was a sweetheart. Another guy came around offering us samples of the bakery's tea cake (which was stale... I guess that's why they cut it up for samples). No complaints. Honestly, this was better than the brunch I've had at some fancier places (like Aquitaine!)... but the price goes along with the quality. $26 (incl. tip) for our two-person meal. read more
