Falafel Wrap: First time trying falafel wraps. Falafels are supposedly fried hummus balls, but these didn't look fried or like balls; they were probably just lightly pan-fried and a bit clumpy. Our catering event had mostly women, and we've found that wrapping the sandwich halves makes a lot more sense. They were happy to do it, and labeled them all as well. There was a nominal upcharge, as expected, for this service. The delivery was on time, the delivery person was helpful and polite. The event was a working lunch for 20. I was lucky enough to have Basil Tree at a work party last week. I believe Val - the owner - had catered the party for free, as my coworker orders from her a LOT. Either way, it was still good! Val talked to me for a while about the company and the food - it's all natural and more upscale - which is NOT Thai, despite what I always think when I hear the name. We were given 2 platters of sandwiches cut into quarters, which are served with picks in them, saying what they are. GENIUS. They also have a place card for each course, stating the food and ingredients as well. I tried the Fresh Mozzarella (with nut free basil pesto and roasted peppers on focaccia) and the Vermonter (roast turkey, Vermont cheddar, and sliced apples on cranberry bread). I loved the cranberry bread! Both were pretty good, but my coworker said the Dilled Tuna (albacore tuna in a light dilled mayo on whole grain roll) was fantastic, so I wish I'd tried that! For sides, Val brought the Mixed Baby Green Salad (baby greens with toasted pecans, orange sections and grapes with balsamic vinaigrette), which was very nice; the Green Bean, Tomato and Sweet Corn Salad (with fresh basil) - so light and fresh and tasty; and the Sundried Tomato Tortellini Salad (cheese tortellini with sun-dried tomatoes, fresh tomato, artichoke hearts & calamata olive), which was too olive-y for me, as I don't like olives. I didn't try any of the desserts, but they LOOKED amazing. I love the concept of Basil Tree - environmentally friendly, organic and good, quality, gourmet food. With my multiple food orders over a three day conference, their staff was helpful in recommending the type of food, quantity, suggesting where to reduce or add perfectly. During this past week I was tasked with providing boxed lunches for three days during our Employee Appreciation Week for essential staff working onsite. Basil Tree was recommended to me by a co-worker and I am so glad they did. From the first phone call to Jamie everything was completely taken off my shoulders. All I had to do the night before was send her a list of names/selections (60 each day) and the following day, right on time they would show up with all the lunches in boxes, labeled with the persons name and separated by department. We recently ordered for our annual research lab holiday party -- we had used other caterers in the past, and this was by far the most economical - add the best service and the best-tasting food, and they knocked it out of the park! Josh at Basil Tree was incredibly helpful coming up with an appropriate menu to meet our various dietary restrictions (GF, Dairy-free, Vegetarian, Vegan, Nut allergy, Seafood allergy, you name it.) Everything was well-labeled and the food was amazing. Delivery was prompt and friendly, and it is an understatement to say that everyone raved about the food. I work as an events coordinator and use Basil Tree on a very regular basis. I really have only positive things to say about this place! Their food is tasty, fresh and well received. We often order the sandwich trays for lunch meetings. The sandwiches are all tasty. Other good food includes their cheese tortellini, eggplant Parmesan, all of their salads, the chilled veggie pad thai, the tofu skewers, the peanut chicken skewers, and the Mediterranean platter (the quickest thing to go at our public receptions!). They are incredibly accommodating of dietary restrictions if need be. We had an event with multiple vegetarians, many gluten-free folks, and other lactose-intolerant attendees. The staff at Basil Tree worked with me to make sure that the food was appropriate for all guests, offering to separate certain dishes if need be. I have always found that the staff is willing to go above and beyond for their customers. More than once I have needed them to help me change an order in a pinch and they have been very willing to help. One additional plus is that they include a free bagged lunch (meat of your choosing, or vegetarian) for whoever orders the food. This has been a great asset to me (and the student workers who often work our events :) ). The delivery staff are always on time, friendly, professional and quick in getting the job done. Finally, I find their online ordering system to be a huge help. You can easily set up an account and then do all your ordering online. You can start a quote and save it to finish at a later time. You can try a few different combinations online to help figure out what you'd like to order for an event. Their emailed invoices also make processing much easier for me. It's a shame they only do catering! But if you do have a corporate event that needs catering, definitely give Basil Tree a try- you won't be disappointed. read more

I've used Basil Tree for catering 5 person lunches up to 30 - and they have amazing options that I always need- they are allergy respectful, and have tons of Gluten Free, Vegetarian and Vegan options. Josh and Jaime are my saviors- I know what I'm going to get, when I'm going to get it, and how much it's going to cost before I click that order button- and if I have any adjustments or concerns, they're very happy to talk to me. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than some other catering options, but it's honestly fresh, delicious, and inventive, and the drivers are awesome- so nice; on time; gracious; love the return bin service for re-using platters and such instead of just tossing them in the recycling... and the freebies for the person placing the order (granola for ordering the bin service; free sandwich for you when you order for a meeting...) are sweet. We have been ordering from Basil Tree for the last three years or so, and I have to say it really is phenomenal food. Everything that's supposed to be hot is hot and everything that is supposed to be cold is cold. The food is a bit more expensive, but worth every penny. They also offer a lot of gluten free/vegan/vegetarian options that you really can't find at a lot of caterers. The service is always polite, efficient and on time. The delivery people are incredibly helpful, even when I myself am running late. I especially wanted to post this today because not only did the driver wait for me while I was running over, he waited while we figured out a debacle with a double booked room and then helped me move the food that our own catering department had left for the other meeting (and deserted us in the middle of this mess) to another floor. The food always arrives on time, their online ordering system is very easy to use, and the staff is a joy to work with.
