When my husband and I first decided to find a personal chef we thought "maybe this will help, we…read morecan't keep eating out, it's killing us." Neither of us really knew what a personal chef service looked like. We love cooking but we didn't/don't have time during the week to cook. We hoped we'd get more vegetables into our diet at a minimum. That not eating out would mean less of the white devils (sugar, salt). I reached out to The Skinny Beet in a frenetic and desperate state last December. Since they've entered our lives the sun is shining, the clouds have parted and Mondays are happy (re: they are miracle workers). We have been a weekly client with The Skinny Beet for almost 3 months now. At the end of 1 month we reached out to them and shared a list of each positive benefit directly or indirectly related to hiring them as personal chefs. I would like to share this list with you (reader of my review): 1. My husband and I spend more time together. 2. We portion control better. 3. We work out more (have time to work out). 4. We feel better: less groggy, less irritable, more energy. 5. The food they make tastes flavorful, wholesome and satisfying. We get to eat our favorite cuisines with less of the sugar/salt and more grain/vegetable variety than what we know how to cook. 6. We waste less. 7. The brain space we wasted thinking about what to eat, what to cook, when to go pick things up, crap-I-forgot-an-ingredient --- Poof! Gone. Which, working full time while part time grad school, any and all brain space I can allocate to my work is priceless for me. From Week One: Flexibility with schedule and menu planning was made easy for us - We come home and our kitchen tools and pans lovingly (and somewhat expensively) acquired over time are clean - There are delicious dishes made with quality ingredients ready for devouring in the fridge. We are so grateful for the difference The Skinny Beet has made in our quality of life. Seriously, I wasn't kidding: Miracle Workers.

Well in just a couple hours we were able to cover SO much ground. From making a delicious salsa and homemade chips, to a steak and a chicken, even farro with caramelized onions. Not only did I learn tons of REALLY helpful skills that I've already been implementing, but I had delicious food that lasted me for a handful of meals THAT I HELPED MAKE! They brought all their own ingredients and left my kitchen completely spotless (possibly cleaner than how they found it) I am so thankful to these two and I look forward to our next lessons.

The service was pnenonminal, lady was very friendly and helpful. I had had trouble with the fb page and trying to order for a couple days. They finally helped me with giving out their own # to order from. You have to give a time when you r coming so it can be ready w no waiting. We picked noon they open at 1130. You walk under a tent pay, then they bring it to your vehicle to keep safe distancing. They have clambake and other fish items on saturdays. Sundays is barbecue. They also have a resturant for breakfast and lunch on Main st in Waltham center. During rest of week. The pulled pork sliders were very big , juicy and lots of meat. The salads were both homemade like from your own kitchen. Potato salad had just the right amount of mayo and seasonings. I really loved the cucumber salad. Its surprise ingredient was oranges. Wow such a shock. It didn't over power the rest of salad. It was light and very refreshing. It had lots of colorful ingredients. Like a rainbow of colors and flavors. I was a little disappointed in the brownie too dry for me. But everything else was a 10 plus and looking forward to going again and trying a different sandwich but will def get bigger salads for sure.

Everyone has that one memorable meal that every time you think about it, or talk about it, you can…read moretaste it. Often, it's a meal you know you will never have again, and, although you have had other meals just like it, it will never be the same as that ONE meal. When you talk about it, you make your audience want it too (rightfully). Well, it seems I am veering away from singling out one meal as being the sole trophy holder of my taste buds, and, leaning towards working on building a small list (if you will), because, Cricket Café has introduced me to the most delicious turkey sandwich I ever had in my life. I know, I know, it's a TURKEY sandwich, you got sandwich meat, bread, mayo, BOOM, lunch is served. Believe me you, I wrapped my head around this too, I even tried recreating it (came close) but, you just can't replicate perfection. Little did I know that when my company ordered lunch for a meeting that one sunny day in June, my lunch game would be changed forever. In fact, ALL of the sandwiches we had were such a hit in that small meeting of 8 that, a few weeks later, we ordered around 100+ lunchboxes (sandwich, chips, cookie) for our annual Hackathon attendees. Then, the unthinkable happened, I found them on GRUBHUB. Folks, looking for your favorite food spots on GrubHub is no different than food shopping when hungry or browsing Amazon when you can't sleep, it's good in theory BUT, in the end, you will have post-indulgence regret (which, we all know isn't really regret). Beautiful regret, on a full, satisfied tummy. I am not saying we have, I am not saying we haven't placed at least one order per week at Cricket Café since .. or a breakfast order (today). Don't judge. Cricket Cafes turkey sandwich to me, is what the moist-maker is to Ross (google it). I have also added a handful of colleagues to my turkey sandwich-loving circle. If you love food, and, supporting small-local businesses, check out Cricket Café. You will not be disappointed. PS: If anyone is curious of my #1 most memorable meal, it is a slice of cheese pizza from Bianchi's on Revere Beach.

He leaves our kitchen just as he found it, except with two wonderful meals in our refrigerator, ready to eat, with detailed reheating instructions. There is always a little bit more than we can eat, so we occasionally invite over a friend to enjoy the food with us, or we have leftovers. What can I say about the food? Healthy, balanced, creative, and delicious. Grilled salmon with rice noodles, vegetables, and Panang sauce; swordfish Napoleans; grilled chicken breasts with rosemary new potatoes, zucchini, and squash; and simpler dishes, like turkey meatloaf with roasted red potatoes and peas, or chicken enchiladas with rice. If there is a problem, it is that the food is too good, and sometimes we can't help having seconds. Yes, it is a bit of a luxury, but really the best thing is that we get to enjoy two family meals during the week, when we would otherwise be just barely getting food on the table. From what I understand, research in positive psychology says that spending money in a way that lowers your stress level and gives you time with people you love delivers more happiness than spending money on possessions. We're finding this to be true.

Over the course of the evening our guests raved about each of the dishes that JJ and her team put together. In the days that followed, we continued to hear from friends about how much they loved the lamb, lasagna, etc., even while we were still enjoying the leftovers! JJ and her team went above and beyond in preparing food for our special day and for this we are extremely grateful. We would recommend JJ and her team to anyone without hesitation.
