On top of all this, the food was absolutely delicious! During the planning process, Jim was kind and accommodating - all in all, a delight to work with. In addition to phone calls and emails, he came out to our venue multiple times to ensure that a plan was in place and that all city requirements were met. The only area which could have been improved was speeding up throughput through the buffet by making it double-sided. Cindy and her staff arrived plenty of time before the event to setup tables and decor. Cindy did an amazing centerpiece (Mocha colored roses? inside a vintage birdcage!) which matched with the gorgeous table cloth color. She provided an awesome spread of food (veggie platter-came with asparagus!, cocktail shrimps, cheeses, crackers, **super yummy garlic flavored baguette**, pasta salad and much more). Staff did a great job refilling food as they were running low, which made it felt like we had unlimited about of shrimps :) And plenty of drinks to go around. Cindy was friendly and funny to talk to. We hoped we'd get more vegetables into our diet at a minimum. That not eating out would mean less of the white devils (sugar, salt). I reached out to The Skinny Beet in a frenetic and desperate state last December. Since they've entered our lives the sun is shining, the clouds have parted and Mondays are happy (re: they are miracle workers). We have been a weekly client with The Skinny Beet for almost 3 months now. At the end of 1 month we reached out to them and shared a list of each positive benefit directly or indirectly related to hiring them as personal chefs. I would like to share this list with you (reader of my review): 1. My husband and I spend more time together. 2. We portion control better. 3. We work out more (have time to work out). 4. We feel better: less groggy, less irritable, more energy. 5. The food they make tastes flavorful, wholesome and satisfying. We get to eat our favorite cuisines with less of the sugar/salt and more grain/vegetable variety than what we know how to cook. 6. We waste less. 7. The brain space we wasted thinking about what to eat, what to cook, when to go pick things up, crap-I-forgot-an-ingredient --- Poof! Gone. Which, working full time while part time grad school, any and all brain space I can allocate to my work is priceless for me. From Week One: Flexibility with schedule and menu planning was made easy for us - We come home and our kitchen tools and pans lovingly (and somewhat expensively) acquired over time are clean - There are delicious dishes made with quality ingredients ready for devouring in the fridge. The caterers were kind enough to offer to wrap plates to go for anyone/everyone who wanted, which was just a really great extra detail that helped so much. So many guest complimented the food and asked where it came from, ALWAYS a good sign. Email and phone correspondence were always fast and detailed throughout the planning process. I contacted Phil at EMW a mere 3 weeks before the wedding and it was PERFECT! Phil totally alleviated any anxiety or concerns - In fact, I started to worry that it was all so easy!!!!! He made menu suggestions, and given his enthusiasm about the choices, I did not even feel compelled to taste anything before hand. He had an calm demeanor -yet seemed very excited to be doing this. He made me feel very special. He stopped by the week prior to the wedding (it was in my home) and (unbeknownst to me) stopped by the day of to make sure everything was in order. The day of the event I left to get hair done and returned to a bustling wedding central. A few last minute questions and I left to get dressed. The staff was unbelievably fantastic!!!!! The manager, Gaviston ("Gavi") was super attentive to every detail. I found a plate of food in my hand ever so often (Or I probably would not have eaten!!). A fresh drink was always ready for me. Cynthia did an outstanding job with the food- I got soooo many compliments (which was significant since the food was very important to me). Honestly, I don't know of too many weddings I have been to where I could recall the food- never mind felt compelled to compliment anyone on it! The presentation rocked as well! Roberto was terrific as well- catering to my 90 year old mother in law (she said she had never eaten so much and so well- and she told me "that nice young man kept bringing me food!!"). He seemed to appear every few minutes with another tray of appetizers. He was appropriate on every level with my guests (and so very polite). I have to say - Gavi, Cynthia and Roberto truly felt like family and looked like they were enjoying being there just as much as the guests! In retrospect, that makes a HUGE difference. And (drumroll please), when they left, it was as they had never been. All my glasses (and there were many!!!) were all washed and put back in storage boxes (I'm sure they are used to just putting the rented glasses in the racks and calling it a day, but, since they were my own, they WASHED them!!!). Leftover food was packed-up, labeled and put away. Since I arranged my own rentals, I had the luxury of letting everyone linger without a deadline. I cannot recommend them highly enough and would totally encourage anyone in need of a catered event to call them with confidence. We are considering an anniversary party! The food was incredible and the presentation was elegant and lovely. The staff the day off could not have been better. They set up and broke down quickly, they were attentive but not overbearing, and everything was seamless. They made the best of a very difficult day for us - we didn't have to worry about anything with the catering from food to serving and that made it so much easier to manage everything else.
