What they actually looked like versus what they were supposed to look like

Sad excuse for cupcakes with "extra" frosting. They have less than the business owner photo with the regular amount of frosting some years ago. She claimed they had extra frosting because they had more than what was in the case, which was literally a star dot of frosting. I can't believe how downhill the cupcakes have gone since they bought out Cupcake Station. Cupcake Station would be ashamed of what this has become. The cupcakes were a melted mess. Girl at the counter claimed that she could not give us extra frosting or a refund. I took them because I had used my birthday reward and she couldn't answer whether I would get that back, but I shouldn't have because I'm not gonna eat those or show them to anyone else. They should be embarrassed to put out products like that. If you are going to have only one person working, they should have the knowledge and authority to do everything that comes with running a store. I'm done with this place. $40 for that!!

I don't travel to Ann Arbor often, but I've heard good things about the small businesses. I stopped in for cupcakes in the middle of the day. The staff worker did not acknowledge me when I came in, waited by the cupcakes and even walked down to where she was. It was clear that she was working on paperwork of some kind, but heard the door open. She didn't acknowledge the wait or anything. It was a poor experience starting off. I picked two cupcakes because I was already there and wanted some for the road. Checking out what still lackluster. There were some college students behind me who asked her about some special. One that she never mentioned or even asked if I wanted to partake in. The young lady with the nose rings needs training on customer service. It was disappointing and fizzled my excitement for the $4+ cupcakes. I've had much better service at the Grosse Pointe location.

This place is wonderful! They offer so many yummy options: cupcakes, cookies, cheesecake, doughnuts, ice cream, sandwiches, and coffee! It's very clean and modern here! Service was excellent! If you haven't tried it out yet, TRY it! You won't regret it! They also have gluten free cupcakes!

Headed in early on a Sunday morning looking for a breakfast roll of some kind. Bakehouse 46 is not a place for that. They specialize in cupcakes, it seems, and cookies, ice cream, and donuts are on offer, along with some small sweets I wasn't familiar with. I got donuts, which are breakfasty enough in my book. Theirs are cider-mill style, available plain or coated in cinnamon sugar. There are also "apple pie" donuts and a couple of other creative varieties, and I might have gone for one but didn't know if the toppings would hold up on the way home. So I got the cinnamon sugared ones and they were good, fresh and just a little crispy. This looks like a great place to stop in for a treat.

This place is super cute but I feel like it's nothing special. I went with a friend on a Thursday night. We wanted something warm to drink and this was the only place that was open at 8 pm. We got hot apple cider, which was really yummy! We got the Strawberry Cheesecake cupcake, which was a special for the month of March only. I was so disappointed because Strawberry Cheesecake anything is my favorite. This cupcake was dry and the frosting was kind of hard..... Granted, I know we went at the end of the day but my friend and I were underwhelmed by this cupcake.

I was really craving some cupcakes and unfortunately this place was a disappointment. When we walked in the worker didn't even speak to us. I walked over to her twice before she came over to help us and we were the only ones in the store. The cupcakes were dry and tasted old. Really sad cause they looked so good online.

I was visiting Ann Arbor for the weekend and my friend recommended me this place. Decided to gave it a try and IT WAS THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED during my trip! we got to try the 12 mini cupcakes, a cheesecake bar and cold brew w foam! Out of all the cupcake flavors, campfire (smores) was my favorite! The texture of the cupcake js so soft and the Graham cracker topping added more texture to the cupcake! The cold brew was also delicious! They have 2 different types of foam available: honey lavender and vanilla. The consistency of the foam is a lot dense compared to other coffee shop foams, but I thought it paired really well with the coffee. I would recommend the foam to anyone who likes sweeter coffee! The staffs are super friendly and helpful. The inside of the cafe is a bit small, but thankfully it was not crowded when we visited. I would definitely come back the next time I visit Ann Arbor!

Came here after the football game and they had so many yummy things. Definitely recommend this place and we will be back. The cheesecake bars were bomb. I wish I would've gotten a different cupcake because we both got cheesecake flavored stuff but they were both very yummy

Definitely one of my go-to spots if I wanted to have some tea with a friend or visiting family, or just treat myself to something special. I've tried the chocolate-covered cheesecake (it was on a stick, very rich), and the mini-cupcakes (very flavorful; I think it's a bit expensive but it's the perfect amount as someone who doesn't want to overload on sugar). Most importantly though, I love Bakehouse 46's cider donuts (plain, sugared, all of them)! To be honest, I never understood the hype over cider donuts, but these are fluffy and crispy on the outside - if this was the cider donut that every cider mill served, I'd be on the cider donut hype too. Every friend I've taken was impressed by the cider donut here!

Ever since Cupcake Station closed I've been eagerly waiting (and hoping) my cupcake fix could be replaced by this shop. Today I had my chance to test it out, and was so happy to see my Cupcake Station favs in place (and dare I say even better than I remembered?!). Staff is friendly, the decor is really cute, and I love that we now have an eye into the bakery itself. The new menu looks really good and I can't wait to get back and try some real food in addition to my fav cupcakes. All the bakery items looked really good and it was a challenge not to indulge more than I did on the mini cupcakes alone. We went with a half dozen minis, original, chocolate, cookies and cream, and peanut butter. And they were all delicious. The only downside I see here is the high ticket price for them...6 for almost $12. The minis are small (less than half the size of a regular) and I feel like the price should reflect that (ie be less than half the cost). But then again, I'm still paying to eat them at $12, so what can I really say about it?

Many things have changed since then (several times even!) but somethings never change and that's that Molly's Cupcakes is still one of my favorite dessert spots! And how lucky am I to have easy access to them again as they've expanded and landed in my current home of Ann Arbor. I still love their filled cupcakes, favorites being the Ron Bennington (chocolate with peanut butter filling), the S'mores (a graham cake filled with chocolate ganache and topped with toasted marshmallow), and the Chocolate Decadence (chocolate filled with chocolate). However, they can be quite rich. Luckily their classic cupcakes (traditional cake and frosting) are still very decadent and satisfying. Of those I like the banana (with chocolate frosting) and vanilla with vanilla frosting and sprinkles. Can't choose between several of the options? It's ok! They also have mini cupcakes so you can try several flavors to pick your favorites. I love that they're here and I am craving one BAD now! Alas they're closed for the day as of me writing this but I'm definitely inspired now to go grab another one as soon as they open tomorrow!

For my daughter's birthday I needed assistance as I was recovering from surgery. I searched local bakeries after first trying my favorites I've used in the past and discovering they were both out of business. I looked for something local and read all about taste your dreams and it sounded right. We ordered sugar cookies decorated with Royal icing as well as chocolate fudge filled chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting and some edible decor. Nut allergies were a concern for some of our guests. The theme was unicorns! We discussed decor and flavors, I gave some sketches of our ideas for decor and taste your dreams handled the rest. She delivered to our doorstep and was very thorough during the entire process about what would work best given all of our preferences and ideas. She also explained when I asked what would be the best way to store the items based on their ingredients up until the time of the party.

Sweet Heather Anne has found themselves in a nice new location in Westgate and it's served them,…read moreand us, so well! The previous location, tho very adorable, was often difficult to get to (on Main Street smack dab between the main drag of downtown and the M-14 on ramp which made visiting tough during peak traffic times) and small for things like classes and the like. This new spot is not just bigger for them behind the scenes (you can see their production space via the window next door) but there's a large lobby for both showcasing their beautiful cake work and also for classes which they host regularly on the weekends. I've taken classes on both the older location and in this new space and I have to say this new space is much roomier and easier to work in than the previous spot. And the classes are so well organized and I've learned so much. Even if you're not an experienced cake or cookie decorator it's a blast as Heather and her team make the projects accessible for every skill level. You also walk away with some delicious treats and some really useful worksheets and instructions (I still use the royal icing recipe I received in a class I took 7 years ago). Speaking of delicious treats, they've also opened back up their walk-in dessert counter once a month so you can stop in to pick up cake slices or cookies (the chocolate brownie cookies are SO good). And for special occasions you can also pre-order one of their signature designed cakes on their website for pick up that weekend. Cake options come in a variety of trendy decor choices, from frilly vintage piping with glittered cherries, to pressed flowers or watercolor painting on the sides. All the designs and flavors are perfect for a birthday, anniversary, or even a small intimate wedding. I recently went to a wedding that went this route and instead of getting a tall tiered cake they had several of the Sweet Heather Anne signature layer cakes on a dessert table. It was beautiful! And more affordable and convenient than a custom design. That said, if you're looking to splurge on a fancy design they can also hook that up! One look in their storefront will have you wishing you had a special occasion to book one of these incredible cakes for. I love just coming in and admiring their beauty! We're so lucky to have such a nationally renowned bakery in town and even more lucky that they offer a variety of accessible options no matter what you're looking for!

Not So Enchanting I…read morehave been in here twice. The first time was a dine in, with the intent to enjoy some treats with my daughter. The second was to inquire about pricing for cakes. The short version: I don't plan to go back and I would not necessarily recommend them. The version with more details: I was so excited on the first visit to try this place, it was so cute and I really enjoy supporting little, local businesses. Even the name was adorable! So I took my young daughter in with me to enjoy some sweet treats. We ordered a slice of rainbow cake, a specialty cupcake, and a coffee (for me). The gentleman that we ordered from was really very nice and clearly customer service oriented (he may be the saving grace of in-person ordering), but he did seem pretty new and a little uncertain. I believe the business was pretty new at that time, though, so it was sort of to be expected. I appreciated his eagerness and kindness. Unfortunately, the coffee was extremely bitter (hopefully it was just one bad batch?) and I did not enjoy the rainbow cake at all. When they asked me how the cake was, I tried to politely let them know it tasted just a bit off. The owner got a bit defensive and kept telling me it was because it was frozen and it just needed to thaw more. It didn't seem so frozen, but I accepted that as a possible reason, nonetheless. (If it was, indeed, frozen, why didn't they warn us when we ordered it, though? ...and why not, possibly, suggest a different treat for me to sit down at the table and eat, one that was more ready?) I didn't mention the coffee, as I recall. I felt bad, torn between wanting to support this cute business and being disappointed in the coffee and the sweet treats. As I recall, the owner offered us a cookie for free (which was very nice), but unfortunately, I did not enjoy it. My daughter seemed to like the sweet treats well enough, but she isn't very discerning when it comes to sweets; if it has sugar, she likes it. We drive past this place OFTEN, and my daughter frequently asks to go in, but, with the first experience still in my mind, I usually tell her 'another time, honey.' Then, I had an idea (this is months later)... I thought maybe I could surprise my daughter and her friend with a rainbow cake from Enchanted Oven by ordering it for an upcoming celebration. The website didn't have the information I was looking for (this was more a problem with my Internet than their website), so I swung into the shop the next time I passed it, to inquire. The same, very kind, very eager-to-help gentleman was working the front counter and asked what he could get me. I looked in the case to see if they had the rainbow cake again; maybe I could give it a second chance, give it ample time to 'thaw' this time and see how it tasted. When I mentioned rainbow cake, the gentleman said they had it and was quick to point out a different, multi-colored treat--something with chocolate and 3 layers of different colors--and I let him know that wasn't quite the 'rainbow cake' I meant. He turned and asked the (owner?) about the rainbow cake, (he didn't have to, but he was so eager to please, and I appreciate that about him...) and while her response was along the lines of 'that's a special order item', her tone came across with a bit more like there was a 'duh, lady!' undertone to it, but I tried to just shake it off. The lady (owner?) was very busy and didn't have time to talk, which is understandable and would have been absolutely fine, except it wasn't handled well and I got the impression she just didn't want to be bothered. Her demeanor was very off-putting and when I tried to respect her urgency and be brief in my inquiry about the cost of rainbow cakes, the ballpark number range she gave me for the rainbow cakes was *really* high. Maybe if I had some other hook at the time to go on (a wonderful cake taste on my last visit, exceptional customer service, captivating pictures of previous works for something similar...), the price would have seemed more worth it, but nothing in the entire exchange with her made me the least bit compelled to order from her or support her business, unfortunately, as the whole conversation felt like a shove out the door, really. That, coupled with my first experience....I just can't recommend this place. Maybe, some day in the future, I will give this place a third chance and change my tune, but a future visit is not on the radar right now. If I were to talk directly to the owner, my suggestion to avoid this in the future would be: give your front counter employee some information to go on so he can help field some of the questions with future customers. He is very sweet and very eager, but both times I came in, he had that 'I'm still new and don't know how to answer your questions' sort of quality. I think he could really do a lot if he had a book of pictures, some price ranges, etc.. handy to show people.
