This bakery chain was apparently started here by Taiwanese pop singers with three locations in the NYC area. This place is actually very small and only has a couple seats for customers. They do not have a bathroom either. This is a Taiwanese bakery, but most of their baked goods are very general items you can find in other Asian bakeries - bubble tea, buns, egg tarts, fruit tarts, taro and green tea flavored baked goods, etc. While the food here was tasty, I definitely prefer other bakeries like Fay Da or Paris Baguette which has foo that is just as good but with a much larger selection and a lot of seating.

The staffs were friendly. Ordered black sesame cake and boba drink. Boba is chewy. The pistachio nuts over powered the black sesame creamy fluffy cake. Overall, a cute dessert place, they have tables and chairs to eat inside. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5

I was in the East Village/St. Marks area for a show and was in the mood for a quick bite to eat. I came across Bake Culture after a quick search in the area. I got a taro pastry. It was pretty tasty. I usually don't go to Chinese/Taiwanese bakeries unless I'm in Chinatown, Flushing, or Bensonhurst, but Bake Culture has a bit of a unique twist/modern twist to some of the favorite pastries that you would find at those establishments. Almost like a Taiwanese version of a bakery to rival some of the French Korean owned bakeries. They have an assortment of pastries like egg custard, a variety of different breads and buns that you would find at a bakery in like Chinatown but with a slight twist as I mentioned. The space itself is pretty small and not really designed for a bunch of people to sit around in like a cafe. The service was fairly quick.

Prices seem fare based on nowadays standards. Flavors are cool, subtle and not so sharp in taste so therefore not a over consumption of sugar making it a little bit healthier. I enjoyed the lemon bread one in first pic. It's massive and a lot of cream inside, wasn't too sweet but good enough to enough and probably taste better with some sort of milk beverage. The red round bread bun was good, had some cream cheese and raisins inside, not so much but in certain areas you may taste a lot since it's not evenly distributed. The chicken sandwich was not that good but it's probably because it is cold. Not sure u can ask to heat it up but u can ask. The taro danish was good, had a lot of taro filling in the middle(not sweet). Taro bun gives sort of a thin croissant like flaking. Dragon fruit Cranberry, was pretty good, in certain areas inside there is like cream cheese and raisin for flavor to just the red bread.

Ran into this cute coffee/bake shop as I was exploring East village and i'm so glad I came in! They have such an interesting variety of pastries, baked goods and delicious drinks. The girl who was front of the house was so sweet and made our time there worthwhile. Not pictured: S'more's cookie: Double chocolate chip cookie with marshmallow filling in the middle. This was arguably one of the best cookies i've ever tasted in my life!!

Tasty mooncake! The bakers definitely know what they're doing here with a variety of unique mooncake flavors.

Underwhelming and disappointed. their baked goods and mini cakes look good on the outside. However at first bite you will notice that the cane itself is dry, the cream lacks and burst of flavor. Perhaps a light layer of fruit jam or preserve could help add moisture or flavor but as it stands I would not buy from them again.

More like 3.5. They got quite a few things on their menu that are different from your typical asian bakery and they are known for their taro-based items, so make sure to get that. TLDR - come for the taro based items, maybe the german egg tart. TARO DANISH *** Probably my favorite, it's kind of like a croissaint but not as flaky/crispy/crunchy more fluffy and airy and has taro cream inside that is not too sweet, nice and taro-y and creamy, and overall really satisfying. Not sure I find stuff like this elsewhere so take advantage of this special tiem. TARO BUN*** Flaky purple exterior covers a dense, smooth, thick layer of taro filling that is not too starchy but you can definitely tell it's real taro in there. Not too sweet and really enjoyable, especially for me as someone who usually doesn't like taro things because of the starchy, fibrous texture it can have. Also quite filling! Do recommend you get this as well BLACK SESAME MOCHI BALL Love black sesame but I would skip this. It had a really strong herbal/medicinal flavor of some kind and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. It does have a nice flaky exterior and the inside is like mochi + black sesame mash with little seeds inside. Not even really sweet, more like savory with sweet notes. PINEAPPLE BUN Gotta try the pineapple bun at every place I go to but this was far from my favorite; didn't have that nice crumbly crispy exterior that I was hoping for. I"m sure if it were more fresh it would make a difference.

One of my favorite Chinese bakeries in the city. It's a cute little shop with sweet pastries and cakes, sandwiches and savory pastries, and drinks. I've tried a few of their pastries so far and always get a new thing to try! Here are some of my favorites! -Coconut bun -Taro bun -Milk bun Here are some other pastries I've tried that didn't make my favorites list but are also still pretty good. -Taro crepe cake -Fresh cream fruit cake -Pineapple cake (I like how these are freshly baked which is harder to find) -Sun cake -Egg tarts

Came here to buy some birthday cake and I wanted a variety so I opted for the mini versions. Unfortunately I didn't think the cake was worth the money that it was being sold at. I found the cake to be quite dry and the cream to cake ratio was off with too much cake. I thought the chocolate was the best out of them all. Additionally the rosemary on top, tho a cute garnish, threw off the taste of the cake quite a bit. I also recognized that I went at almost to closing which might explain the dryness of the cake but usually cakes lasts well into the next day after being baked so I was quite surprised by this. They have other baked good in there that I would like to try instead next time! The store was a bit small with about 2-4 seating.

Taro bun. Very tasty inside. Outside was too sweet for some reason.

This is one of the many many Asian spots on St. Marks. I'm surprised it took this long for a Chinese (or in this case Taiwanese) bakery to open up. They have a few other locations but most of their other spots are in areas with many other more reasonable pastries so this one gets a bit more of a bumped rating. I had a taro bun (I believe it was maybe around $3 or $2.50 which would be expensive in Chinatown but not as much around here) which had a very delicious inside stuffed with taro and not too much sugar. My only complaint about the bun is actually the outside. I don't know why but it felt like it was cloyingly sweet and almost too buttery which isn't really necessary as the inside is already a bit sweet already. The texture of the bun was good but I didn't really get it. Mid 3 specifically for the area.

More like 3.5 Came in before they were about to close. A lot of the things are already sold out, so the selections were limited. The cakes look very cute and pretty! Grabbed 3 items to try: Tiramisu: this is one of my favorite tiramisu! A lot mascarpone - close to my 100 to 0 mascarpone to cake/lady finger ratio lol! Super light fluffy airy and dreamy texture! Cherry Blossom Mille Crepe: I was super curious and excited to try this one! I love the bouncy gelatinous jiggly jelly layer in the middle! Flavor wise, I honestly don't know what to expect - haven't eaten cherry blossom before lol. It's very subtle and I didn't quite get that floral scent I was hoping for. Sesame mochi ball: I like black sesame and I like mochi... so this one is a no brainer! I really enjoyed this one! A lot fragrant black sesame filling inside with a slightly chewy and croissant-ish layered pastry shell outside. Very filling. I would come back to try their bakery goods

    Grapefruit tea with abundant boba
    Laura O.

If I could give Bake Culture 6 out of 5 stars, I would. A lot of the time you go to a bakery late in the day, they're out of everything and the boba has the texture of a super bouncy ball. Not only did they still have some delicious, fresh baked goods to choose from, the tea + boba was perfect. Grapefruit is hard to find outside of Kung Fu tea but Bake Culture has perfect grapefruit tea and still had fresh, chewy boba. Their hot coffee was decent too. Cheers to the friendly, helpful workers too.

There wasn't Classic Milk Teas there and had to wait 45 minutes for 4 drinks. It also didn't have a lot of bread anyways.

It had old tasting banana paste in the middle assuming because it's real banana and not artificial, is tiny, and didn't taste good Yuzu--nice yuzu flavor and disappeared fast Cloud--forgot the actual name and apparently didn't take a picture, it had chocolate/hazelnut mousse with some sort of caramel and something crunchy, also delicious All of the petit gateaus were on the mild side which is a big plus for me.
