Dr Halim took my healthcare concerns seriously (even though I am on the younger side) and he made sure I received the proper healthcare I deserved. I've been ignored and pushed aside with all of my previous doctors and providers but Dr Halim was the first MD to take me seriously! I can never fully put into words and express the gratitude I have towards this medical provider. The front office staff is beyond kind and welcoming and I look forward to checking in because they are attentive and quick. Not only do I rave to everyone about Dr Halim's precise, attentive, kind, and understanding care but my fiancé was so impressed from the care I received that he started seeing Dr Halim as well. Thank you so much Dr Halim and the front office staff - the healthcare system needs more individuals/providers like you - the care you provide is invaluable and you are an asset to San Marcos/San Diego area! I'm going through some serious health issues between my back and kidney stones. My life is not the…read moresame as I'm dealing with constant pain, and yet my doctor can't seem to find the time to see me. The PA is not supposed to be my primary care physician--Dr. Halim is. She is not personally familiar with my medical history or my previous conversations with him. Dr. Halim initially diagnosed my back issues as a muscle tear. He ordered an X-ray, but when I came in to review the results, I was assigned to his PA, whose diagnosis was different. They ordered a CT scan, and when I returned to review that, I was yet again assigned to the PA. Then they ordered an MRI. I had the MRI done on a Friday. After another weekend of dealing with the pain, I called Monday to make an appointment to review the MRI. I thought I was being completely reasonable in requesting to see my actual doctor this time. I hadn't been able to talk to or see him since the X-ray or CT scan, and I wanted to discuss the results of all three tests with him. This is a big deal--not only the three large kidney stones, but also the other unrelated pain I've been experiencing. It has been horrible. When I called, I specifically told the receptionist that I needed to see Dr. Halim rather than his PA. I was told, "I can't guarantee that you will see him." I explained that I was in a lot of pain and had been jumping through all these hoops and taking all these tests without ever being able to see my doctor. The receptionist put me on hold for several minutes, apparently to speak with Dr. Halim. She came back and told me, "Yes, Dr. Halim will see you Friday at 10 AM." I made the appointment and double-confirmed before ending the call: "So, you're telling me that if I come in Friday at 10, I will for certain be able to see my doctor this time?" She said yes. I showed up Friday morning. The front desk confirmed that I had a 10 o'clock appointment with Dr. Halim. The other staff member brought me back, checked my blood pressure and told me, "Doctor Halim will be right in." He never came in. I never got to review my X-ray, CT scan or MRI with him. Having Dr. Halim as my physician, I would have thought it was a good thing to have a doctor with decades of experience. He had sold me on how knowledgeable he was about back issues, especially since he has had three back surgeries himself. But what good does all that experience and knowledge do for me when I can never get to see or speak with him? I had waited four days for that Friday 10 AM appointment after my MRI results came back. This appointment was extremely inconvenient because I'm also my mom's caregiver. She can't drive, and she had her own specialist appointment that Friday morning that she had been waiting a month for. I couldn't take her because I needed to see Dr. Halim during the only appointment he had available for me that week. My sister had to take time off work to take my mom to her specialist so I could make it to Dr. Halim's appointment. I rearranged all of that because I was specifically promised I would finally get to see my doctor. Instead, I showed up and was blown off yet again. I can't imagine what else it could be other than Dr. Halim simply being stretched too thin and too busy with too many patients. It can't be something personal. I've been a good patient and have always been on time and friendly with him and his staff. They laugh at my silly jokes, and I've even brought bags of candy for the doctor and staff to show my appreciation. Everything had been great--right up until I was promised four times (twice on the phone and twice in person) that I would see my doctor, and it didn't happen. This isn't just about my schedule. I'm dealing with daily pain, and my family had to rearrange their schedules so I could make that specific Friday 10 AM appointment. After waiting a week for the MRI, I was desperate to get the results and discuss the X-ray, CT scan and MRI with Dr. Halim. It would have been worth my sister taking time off work to take my mom to her appointment if it finally meant I could see my doctor and review everything. Instead, I felt like a real sucker for rearranging everything after being promised I could see my doctor that day. It was never like this before. Dr. Halim must be too busy, with a backlog of patients and a poorly organized schedule, to see me after three consecutive appointments. But if he wasn't going to be available, I think the common courtesy would have been to call me and reschedule. I was PROMISED that if I rearranged my schedule for a third appointment, four days out, I would get to see my doctor. I was given one timeslot the entire week--Friday at 10 AM--to finally get to see my doctor. And even after PROMISED I would finally get to see my doctor, nope, no explanation, no apology, no doctor,

Dr. Patel listened when I explained why I was there, and did an examination based on what I said was bothering me (as well as reviewing the information sent to him by the referring physician and the results of the x-rays they did in his office before I saw Dr. Patel). He explained and showed me the problem in a way that I could clearly understand. He then explained the different options. The option I chose to go with involved what I knew, and he confirmed, would be two painful injections. He was so skilled in doing those injections; they were indeed painful but I believe they were a lot easier to tolerate due to his skills. He is professional, personable, very through and very knowledgeable. I felt like he really carried. A word about his office staff; every single person I encountered from start to finish, including the person who called me to schedule my original appointment was wonderful. I want to begin by clarifying that this review is not based on the actual services provided, as…read moreunfortunately I never had the opportunity to receive care. Instead, this is a reflection of my experience interacting with the office and its handling of my situation. I am an active-duty service member with over 13 years of service, and at the time of this situation, I was stationed overseas in Bahrain. I scheduled an appointment months in advance while planning a trip back to the United States to handle important personal matters, including custody arrangements. I was referred to this practice by my ex-wife, who spoke positively about their services despite the high cost. However, during that time, government shutdowns significantly impacted military pay. Like many others, I found myself in an unexpected financial hardship due to delayed compensation. On top of that, my travel back to the U.S. was severely disrupted. Flight changes and delays left me stranded in the Philippines with my children, forcing me to spend an additional $1,500-$2,000 on emergency lodging, transportation, and other necessities. As soon as I realized I would not be able to make my appointment, I made an effort to notify the office. While in transit, I sent a text message explaining my situation, believing I was contacting a valid business line. I also followed up with a detailed email explaining the circumstances and expressing my desire not to cancel, but simply to reschedule. I made it clear that I still intended to receive services and continue care with them when I was financially stable. Despite this, I was charged a cancellation fee. After explaining my financial hardship, the fee was reduced to half, which I initially appreciated. However, even that reduced amount was not something I could afford at the time, given the circumstances I had just endured. I communicated this clearly and respectfully, hoping for understanding and flexibility. What I received instead was a response focused solely on policy and payment. Even after explaining that I did not have the funds and was dealing with significant personal and financial strain, the priority remained collecting the fee. I was informed that if payment was not made, the balance could eventually be sent to collections. This was incredibly disheartening. What impacted me most was the lack of compassion. This is a mental health-focused practice--an environment where empathy and understanding should be foundational. Yet, even when presented with a situation involving financial hardship, disrupted travel, and ongoing military obligations, there was little effort made to truly support or work with me beyond minimal concessions. Im, currently still overseas, in an active conflict environment, facing real and immediate dangers. Missile threats and attacks are not abstract concerns--they aree happening in real time, near where I live and work. While dealing with these life-threatening conditions, I continued receiving communication about a $275 charge for services that were never rendered. today as missile sirens are going off I called and paid the $275 out of the limited funds I have remaining, not because I agreed with the charge, but to stop the ongoing stress and pressure during an already overwhelming situation. It is difficult to reconcile risking one's life in service to a country--protecting the freedoms that allow businesses to operate--with the experience of being treated without empathy or flexibility in return. This was not just a financial issue; it was a human one. I had hoped to experience the level of care and professionalism reflected in the positive reviews I had seen. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of that expectation. My interaction with this practice was marked not by care or understanding, but by rigid policy and a lack of compassion during a time when it was needed most. I sincerely hope this feedback encourages reflection and change. Situations like mine may not be common, but they are real--and how they are handled matters deeply. I dont expect special treatment but, a little humanity would be nice giving the circumstances. I have email correspondence as proof I basically begged for some understanding. Now I would never spend my money here. How can people who say their passion is to help others act like this. I guess it only matters when there can be a price put on it. for a place that claims to love helping people, that didn't show up here at all. I don't expect special treatment because i'm military, I expect some sort of humanity and morals. I guess they only care to help if a price tag is attached to it. This place will never get my business! if I could go zero stars I would.
