I came in for an appointment for a colonoscopy this morning at 8 AM. Everybody was very pleasant very professional from the gal that checked me in to the anesthesiologist , Dr. Zakko very professional. I felt very comfortable with everybody there I would totally come there again. See you in 10 years. read more

Dr. Zakko is excellent. I highly recommend him. At my first appointment he took the time to talk to me and find out if I had any issues and then came up with a plan of how we were going to resolve those issues. I never felt rushed. read more

I've been in San Diego for over a year, coming from LA. I have tried to get a primary care doctor and a gastroenterology doctor, but no one is taking new patients. This doctor, Dr Maram, gastroenterology, won't even see me without a referral. I hope I don't end up in the hospital again. If I do, I'll be back here, complaining about Dr Maram and his restrictive rules about referrals. He's apparently not a real doctor as he seems not to care about upholding his hypocrite oath to help. The healthcare system in America is shameful, and a doctor who refuses a patient without a referral is not living up to the profession. Shame on YOU, DR MARAM. read more

The office staff needs a course on professionalism. What a collective bunch of lazy, rude and classless people...and, it seems that this doctor doesn't really care if his staff is professional, or not. Someone should send him a copy of these reviews. NOT PROFESSIONAL. Caitlyn at dr Zakko office is rude. inconsiderate. i work in a pharmacy where i help people, it's my job. i called for a patient to get a medicine switched to something that's covered and Caitlyn spoke for Dr.Zakko telling me there is no alternative that dr.zakko will allow to accommodate the patient. i mentioned another alternative and she refused to switch and said it's been discontinued as we had it on our shelf.... she then ignored me when i asked her for more info and she rudely corrected me instead of helping me get this done for the patient. i relayed the message to the patient caitlyn refused to help me and the patient was going elsewhere to get a procedure done since i got no help from Caitlyn. If you read the review by Brenna T, who works at my pharmacy, I am the patient Brenna tried to help by getting Dr. Zakko's office (Caitlyn) to call in a bowel prep medication that my insurance would cover, rather than the very expensive one Caitlyn had originally called in (Clenpiq) that was not covered. My pharmacy checked and found out that my insurance covered Suprep and offered to call Dr Zakko's office and request the change- but Caitlyn refused to accommodate the request. (See Brenna's review about how that went down.) Frustrated, I left the pharmacy without a prescription. I called Caitlyn about 15 minutes later and told her I needed to use a product that my insurance covered or I would need to cancel my procedure. Caitlyn then decided that Suprep would probably be fine after all and that she would double check with Dr. Zakko although she would not be able speak to until he was back in the office- which would be in 5 days. I hung up and 10 minutes later, I got a text from my pharmacy notifying me that the Suprep was ready for pick-up- necessitating a second trip to the pharmacy that I had just left. I don't know what game Caitlyn is playing- perhaps her office gets paid to push Clenpiq. I don't know but she wasted my time and was not honest about my prep options until pushed. I will not be going there for any procedures. I will take my healthcare dollars elsewhere. read more

I believe in getting a regular colonoscopy because it is vital in the fight against colon cancer and other afflictions in your intestines, etc. Granted, not many people enjoy them or the preparation ahead of time, but between the staff and Dr. Zakko himself, I was very relaxed and felt that I was in wonderful hands. His demeanor was very pleasant, and he fixed himself on me...giving me his complete attention. That was huge! And, his staff was the same way; patient, attentive, and thoroughly pleasant. I even sent a little gift afterwards thanking them for making a potentially uneasy experience a pretty relaxed one. Bravo! read more

It was hard to get anyone to answer the phone to make an apt. Then I explained that I have out of state ppo and I needed to know if they were in my network. They said yes so my office visit should be $35 well to my surprise when they sent me a bill for $200! The dr said he thought he could fix my pain in my right side but he did not know what was the cause. I had seen several other dr and been to several emergency rooms and no one else knew what it was. Kind of scary when they have to be dishonest to get you in the door so I never went back for a 2nd visits. The first was full of BS and did not need more of that. read more

A great gastro doctor. Works with you to solve all issues. He had a great bedside manner and spends plenty of time with patients.

My experience with Parkway Endoscopy Center was a very positive one. This is a well-managed facility. I liked being able to do most of the pre-admissions process online. I received communications regarding my procedure date and time exactly as I had been told I would. The entire medical and administrative personnel are very friendly, personable, and professional. Dr. Zakko is very good and he has a wonderful support staff. read more

Met with the Doc and he answered all my questions. Insurance tries to keep costs down by not allowing you to see the doctor prior to treatment. Dumb move from medical insurance company. How often does that happen? read more

I have had two colonoscopies performed by Dr. Zakko. We moved out of state but I highly recommend him. He has a great bedside manner and pays great attention to questions and answers them completely. I would go to him again in a heartbeat. read more
