Filipino food cravings hit yesterday for lunch and tried Bagnet for the first time. SARAP SARAP ng Sinigang Fish here! The portions are so generous and the staff here are super duper nice! They have a small parking area, lots of street parking! I will definitely visit again! Mabuhay Filipinos!

Not all available when they open for breakfast.

OK So . . . I don't want those of you who frequent Bagnet to hate on me for this review but my last visit here was definitely subpar. This wasn't a first time experience and I am just so frustrated by it. I came in earlier in the week for breakfast. My plan was to pick up. few things for the family. The sign out front says that they open up for breakfast at 8AM. You'd think that would mean that they'd also have food ready at 8AM. Nope! I wanted to order tapsilog, longsilog and a crispy pata. Of those items they didn't have a single one. You'd think that they'd at least have eggs ready. NOPE. They didn't have that either. When my hubby and I asked how long it might be for food to be prepared, that's when the cashier x server said that food was ready. When I asked about tapa and longainisa, she said those items weren't ready and that she wasn't sure when they would be. OK SO . . . you said food was ready but it wasn't. I can understand the kitchen making eggs to order but to have nothing out, that's not all that convincing that you are prepared for or that you should be open for business. I have had food here from before, past visits, but this was just upsetting. This had happened another time or two that I'd come early in the morning. I didn't think that it'd happen again but apparently this is a habitual thing. I am not pleased at all. I'm sure I will be back to pick up other items some other day but it won't be anytime soon, now that I've got this sour taste in my mouth all over again.

I'm not sure why the stars are so low but this place is very delicious. Service cold be a little better but they give out unlimited rice so I mean how can you get that upset they're busy. But I mean when you're getting rice, longanisa and eggs did 5$, you really can't go wrong. And I added some spam to my meal which made it easy to share with my daughter. The food was extremely tasty and very affordable!

Not sure why this place has so many haters. Food was pretty good and well priced. Maybe we went here on a good day. Bagnet was fresh, as if it were just cooked. Slices were a bit big for my liking, but still really good. Longanisa was also juicy and tender. Tocino was okay, a bit too fatty, will probably try the tapa next time. No garlic rice ): not sure if it was just today or they ran out. Melon juice was okay, slightly too sweet, and wanted more melon pieces. Overall, really good for a quick fix. Will be back!

Great spot for cheap Filipino breakfast. It's only $5 for your choice of meat/fish, unlimited rice, and egg tomato. They were out of Tapsilog when we came which was a bummer, so we got Longsilog & Tosilog. Tosilog is my favorite, and although it was good, it was a bit too thick, sweeter than usual, and basically no salt. Didn't have the traditional addicting Ticino taste. The rice was great, with vinegar and egg. I like how they have free coffee as well. It's a pretty small place with about 8 tables and it was crowded which was a good sign. We were able to get a table but still took our food to go. Parking lot available. They also cater and it's $110 for a boneless lechon (10-11 lbs) I probably would come back to try the other Filipino breakfasts since it's cheap!

$5 all day breakfast with unlimited fried rice and free coffee. You read it right, an incredible deal for just five bucks. Definitely a hole in the wall and a no frills eatery. Please don't expect any gourmet food here because $5 is all you need to pay for a complete meal with coffee. Meals are served in disposable plates with matching plastic spoon and forks. Rice comes with two fried eggs and a choice of pork adobo (cooked in vinegar, soy sauce and garlic), crispy pata (deep fried pig trotters or knuckles, tocino (sweetened pork), bagnet (deep fried pork belly), longganisa (sweet sausages), daing na bangus (fried boneless milkfish marinated in vinegar then, danggit (fried dried fish), spam, corned beef, etc. Don't expect someone to find you a seat or a waitress to get your orders. You need to place your own order at the counter, pay, make your own coffee, get yourself seated, then pick up your own meal when it comes out of the kitchen. After eating, you need to dispose all plates and plastic wares. Place can get really busy so expect a wait to find a seat. Parking can be tough so we parked at Ralph's across the street. Lady in the counter, who I think is the owner, is nice and friendly.

We stopped at Camarillo Outlets to try and kill time since our Air B&B is not ready until late afternoon. I looked to see if there are any Filipino food spots in the area and I found Lola Betty's. We ordered the short rib plate and the Tasilog plate and lumpia Shanghai- washed it down with Calamansi juice. Everything was delicious, 10/10. The owner came out to check on us and she was so kind, hospitable and shared some history with us on how Lola Betty's came to be. From food truck to walk up, she said that some people really preferred or hoped for a sit down restaurant. I don't have a preference. I only love the soul and passion that is poured into one's food. Love, soul and passion can be found here. The owner says, "I just really wanted a place where you can really be attentive and really take the time to cook the food the way it should be made". The pricing is fair, portions are generous, and overall the food was good. As a fellow Filipino, I would love to see a little more variety on the menu since it currently focuses on the basics. From a business standpoint, especially considering the location and customer base, I understand keeping things simple. The only dish I wasn't a huge fan of was the Tapsilog, as the meat was a bit salty for my taste. The Longsilog was much better, and I loved that they included a small puto (rice cake) with the meal. Overall, a great experience and worth a visit.

We shared a couple of dishes: -Lechon Kawali: Crunchy, savory, and fried nicely. Loved the flavor and texture and how it wasn't overly fatty. There were some dry bits though. This also paired well with the chicken oil and dark sauce. -Adobo Rice: My friends really liked this one. The rice was fluffy and flavorful. I liked the additions of the fried pork adobo pieces on top but the sauce they were coated in was a bit too salty. The interior is colorful and cozy. The service here was great and the staff were super friendly. They even allowed my friend to bring her small dog inside. There's a good amount of parking in the plaza the restaurant is located in. It's in quite a busy area and parking can be a little bit tricky but it's totally worth the stop. However, it is a very small place so seating is limited, and definitely don't plan on bringing a large group because it's cramped as it is, and no outdoor seating available. We came about an hour before closing on Friday, so luckily it wasn't crazy busy but they only have one lower regular height table, which is actually a handicap designated table, so the higher bar seating isn't super ideal for kids or elderly. Other than that if you want to just do takeout, I saw a lot of people doing that. It was hard to make a choice here because of all the delicious things on the menu, but we were super happy with what we got. The lechon sisig was the perfect amount of heat, and loved the poached egg added on top, definitely worth the extra cost. We also got the longsilog, which was a delicious plate of food. The sausage was cooked perfectly, and it was so juicy and flavorful, our kids devoured all of it! The salad and the pickled achara was so refreshing and really completed the dish. Even the lumpia and the house chili sauce didn't disappoint either. The presentation was definitely all there. Service was awesome as well. My only complaint is that they were out of the calamansi hibiscus drink so I wasn't able to try it, but I guess that just means I have to come back again when I'm in the area!

We also tried the hiramasa collar, which was really good. I believe it was marinated in a soy sauce-based mixture. It was a little salty for my taste, but still enjoyable. Nestled in the sauce were vibrant, perfectly cooked vegetables: tender bok choy, slightly charred green beans, and slices of eggplant that had soaked up all the savory depth of the stew. At the heart of the dish lay generous chunks of beef -- fork-tender, deeply flavored, with just enough fat to melt into the sauce and give it that rich, silky mouthfeel Kare Kare is known for. Sprinkled over the top were crunchy bits, adding a satisfying contrast to every spoonful. Of course, the small side of bagoong (fermented shrimp paste) was essential -- a modest dollop transformed each bite, balancing the sweetness and creaminess of the peanut sauce with a punch of briny intensity. Paired with steaming garlic rice, every scoop felt like the perfect blend of textures and flavors, a true homage to the Filipino classic. Eating Spoon & Pork's Kare Kare felt both nostalgic and elevated -- the heart and soul of a traditional comfort food presented with an eye for freshness and balance. It's the kind of dish that makes you slow down, savor each bite, and immediately start planning your next visit.

4.5 stars. Sorry,…read moreguys - I'm still catching up on my reviews and am kicking myself for failing to write this before Spoon & Pork permanently shut its doors. This was an unforgettable eatery. During our trip to Los Angeles in May, 2023, Wendell invited Jay, Z and me to meet up with Veda and him for a late lunch at 2 PM at one of their favourite Filipino restaurants, Spoon & Pork, on Sunday, the 7th. Spoon & Pork, which originated as a food truck, was a restaurant that specialized in Filipino comfort food with a contemporary twist. They offered a fresh, inventive fusion of the flavours of the Philippines with modern sophistication. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Los Angeles' Silver Lake neighbourhood, Spoon & Pork was a cozy boutique eatery on bustling Sunset Boulevard that greeted guests with a neon pig sign at their front entrance. No private lot on this busy street, so finding nearby parking was a bit challenging and although the charming spot offered both indoor and al fresco dining, seating was also limited. The tropical-inspired dining room with warm wood accents created an effortlessly cool and relaxed atmosphere that felt both modern and rooted in tradition. Upon entry, guests were welcomed by the aroma of sizzling meats and fragrant spices which alluded to the culinary journeys to come. The food at Spoon & Pork wasn't exactly what one's nanay (mom) or lola (grandma) would cook. Celebrating fresh takes on the richness of Filipino cuisine, the menu was an invitation to indulge in unexpected, compelling twists on a thoughtfully curated selection of traditional dishes, infusing familiar flavours into new forms. Below are what we ordered: beef tapa ($25) - MASARAP (DELICIOUS)! Of all the dishes that we ordered, this was the winner of them all as the succulent meat packed a punch of flavour. adobo tofu ($14) - One of Wendell's regular orders, this notable plant-based option, was a tasty, innovative take on the Philippine classic that balanced tradition with modern creativity. laing ($9) - From their platito, small plates section, this bowl of coconut braised taro leaves was rich and creamy deliciousness, but, yes, mini in portion size. garlic rice ($4/$7) - Ordering the garlic rice over plain jasmine rice was a no brainer. Thoroughly infused with the savouriness of the many bits of garlic, this rice perfectly paired with all of the other dishes. bistek ($28) - The skirt steak was very tender and the sauce perfectly balanced the tanginess from the calamansi juice with the savoury soy sauce. lechon kawali ($23) - Another reimagined classic dish featuring crispy, golden pork belly with crunchy skin and tender, flavourful meat inside. The dish was complemented by a tangy, pickled red cabbage that enhanced the crispy texture and added a refreshing contrast. This mastery of flavour and texture tickled Z's tastebuds and won him over. Before this day, Z was never a fan of Filipino food. Everything tasted boldly rich and every bit intensely intoxicated our taste buds. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. What a remarkably epicurean feast and delightful experience we enjoyed! We're super bummed that Spoon & Pork permanently closed shoppe. Z and I were hoping to return for another tasty meal. Truly, a worthy spot this place was to hit up for an impressively creative taste of the Philippines in Los Angeles.
