Fried chicken, Pancit and Pork sisih
    Odessa P.

I've been dining here for the last decade although it's a 45 minute drive since the atmosphere brings a nostalgic feeling. We've ordered fried chicken but it tasted dry than usual, pancit was great but not a lot of vegetables and sizzling pork sisig which was not served sizzling and full of fat rather than meat. Service was slow too and nobody offered a water refills. Max's glendale was a hit before but not on my recent visit, so dissapointed and will be hesitant to bring back friends and family.

Sour Pork Sisig - taste like soaked in vinegar and inedible.

Valet parking only. On a Monday night, the wait was short, which was a plus, but unfortunately the food was a big letdown. The pancit canton was rubbery and tasted overcooked. The pork sisig was worse,it had an oddly sour flavor, like chopped pork soaked in vinegar. It didn't taste right at all. I'm not picky with food, but this was hard to finish. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this place.

I didn't go inside since our friend got it for takeout!! so yummy that my friend's pupper begged for some too :)

(Half) fried chicken , lechon kawali Sisig, lumpia , pancit , and garlic rice

Feeling like im trying Max's again for the first time (haven't been since I was too little of a girl to remember), and obviously had to try the classics. The lechon kawali sisig (especially paired with the garlic rice) was SOOOO good. I want to say it's my favorite thing I ate but so was practically everything else. Lumpia was also delicious (I could eat multiple servings if I wanted too lol)! Also got a chance to try the calamansi juice. I will say it was very good but it is on the sweeter side so just be mindful. Staff was very sweet (very funny too when we tried not to get rice at first for attempted diet and he thought we were crazy Filipinos lol). The place itself in terms of ambiance was chill. It almost reminded be like a pancake house in a way I don't know why, but very chill area. Good parking around the area too. Salamat !!!

We had a magnificent and memorable time celebrating my godmother's surprise 70th birthday party inside the private room at Max's Restaurant in Glendale. The staff and Tita Maria (owner/manager) provided excellent customer care and service from the time of booking and choosing the food items and menu for the dinner buffet and reserving the dinner buffet party up until the very end of the surprise birthday party. The private room was nicely decorated and set up for our birthday celebrant and guests. Max's staff even had a monitor set up to show videos and slides during the party. We even had music playing and the emcee hosting the celebration. Tita Maria we call her is the one that was the emcee during the celebration. She was also the event planner and menu planner at Max's. For the buffet, the food items served were, Crispy Pata, Kare-Kare, Sinigang, Max's Chicken, Lumpia, Pancit, white rice, Gulaman and Sago, Calamansi juice, Buko Pandan to name a few. They even provided to go boxes for all the left overs so the guests can take home the food. This is the 3rd time our family and relatives reserved a celebration at Max's Restaurant in Glendale and they always delivered with excellent customer service and delicious food. Thank you Tita Maria and Max's Restaurant in Glendale. See you guys again for the next celebration.

We ordered Crispy Pata "to go" but were very disappointed when we got home. As everyone can see from the photos I posted, we got a burned food. What happened with their quality control nowadays? Obviously it's charred and most likely cooked with old used oil. Called them at once to inform them but their Supervisor Ramir Cruz asked us if we can go back and they would replace it. But it took us 30 minutes of driving and with the gas prices right now! He suggested to give us a credit but with the kind of food quality they have now, I don't think we will come back anymore.

They have a parking lot, but its valet. $5 is the cost and theyre pretty fast. The host greeted us and we were sat within 10 minutes of our party's arrival. It is a family style restaurant and the ambiance was casual and very homey. The food was delicious! We were a party of 5 and we still had some left over food at the end. We got their signature fried chicken. It was moist, and it had the right amount of crisp on the skin. We got an order of their appetizer of lumpia and they were delicious. Small enough where you dont get full, but dangerous if you dont keep track of how many you ate. We also got the kara-kara (i may have spelled it wrong) but it felt like a home made meal. Their rice was nice and fluffy, just the way I like it. We also got an order of the glass noodles and that was by far my favorite dish of the evening! The server was extremely nice and checked on us every so often. The restroom was nice too! Can't believe this was in glendale this whole time. It was also a restaurant that my friend had on his list that he's been wanting to try. We will definitely be back.

I went here on Tuesday Jan 29 with my parents and uncle. We ordered kare kare and bangus sisig. Kare kare was amazing, the sauce was well-made and creamy. I've never tried bangus sisig before and I enjoyed it. Not that fatty compared to pork and beef sisig. We ordered more but they're not pictured. Service was great. The waitress asked us how we were doing often and got us napkins since we only had a cloth that held our utensils. Ambiance was nice, it was well lit. Music was playing, there were covers of different songs by I'm assuming Filipino and Filipina singers.

Good food and brings you back home. Restaurant is clean and service is great. Jason & Adrian were friendly and attentive. Parking is valet only with $5 service charge. Recommend for those who wants to try Filipino food.

I loveeee Max's! It's one of my favorite Filipino restaurants to go to whenever I visit this area. The service is good and fast. There's always a good amount of people there having a good time. My favorites: the chicken, cooked to perfection, the sinigang baboy - perfect amount of sour, and the Sago 't Gulaman is sooo delicious.

Was craving filipino food so we decided to go to Max's for dinner. Haven't been here in years and really like how they renovated! The space is more modern and clean. Staff was nice and attentive. They offer valet parking for $5 which I wish it was free self parking so you could probably just park across the street at the galleria and walk over. The sinigang was perfectly sour. Fried chicken still as good as I remembered and thankfully they still had banana ketchup lol. I wish i got the regular pork sisig because the lechon kawali sisig didn't really hit. The sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. Overall I would probably come back!

Decided to stop by for some comfort food. The restaurant was busy but we were able to get seated quickly. We ordered the sisig and palabok. Both dishes were average, nothing special. Food was overpriced as expected. I also got a calamansi drink which was refreshing. Great restaurant if you're in the mood for Filipino food but don't feel like cooking.

Came on a Sunday early afternoon for lunch and was seated immediately. By the time we were leaving, the restaurant was getting packed and there was a wait. So, keep that in mind. Food: - Can't go wrong with the food here and have yet to be disappointed. The lechon kawali sisig though had pieces of the bone/hard cartilage, so be careful when chewing. Service: - Kuya was nice, but don't expect top quality service. It will get busy and you won't be checked on as much. Sometimes it was hard to flag down the waiter because we couldn't find him. Parking is valet only. If you don't mind a short walk, there is street parking. You can also park in the mall parking across the street as an option.

The Black Cow Cafe has been part of my life since my college years, so when I came here now, it was always filled with nostalgia and a slowed pace over a calming meal. Opened in 1994 by a father and son, they embodied the community's "Main Street USA" vibe with a neighborhood diner where everyone knew each other, and you were served a soothing homemade meal during breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Did this cafe leave me with warm memories of the past, or did I cower from time's inevitable changes!? PURCHASE(S) Green Milan 16floz Drink ($7.95): My body needed something "green" and this sounded interesting. I thought it would be one of those health smoothies back in the 80s, but instead a frothy hazy light drink with a light grassy aroma and a middling leafy flavor. I didn't dislike it, but I wouldn't order it again. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=Uo_FrA9ezkxhIn4VnwEVtQ Vegetarian Omelette w/Country Potatoes & Sourdough Toast ($18.95): Made with avocado, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, Ortega chiles, pico de gallo, salsa ranchera, spinach, and topped with sour cream, an omelette was also on my eating bingo card. This smallish portion on the healthier side was packed with fresh goodness and fluffy eggs. The country potatoes were plentiful, nicely seasoned, but lacked the outer crisp I liked. The large sourdough toast with creamy butter and preserves rounded out the meal well. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=vDf51dNgOCoyIaPX_AOvrw Fish & Chips w/Coleslaw & Muffin ($17.95): Made with tempura fried Icelandic cod served with jalapeno tartar sauce, and Hawaiian coleslaw, the three fish pieces were crunchy, hot, and thick but needed more seasoning so the tarter sauce came in handy (no vinegar!). The coleslaw lacked much flavor and moisture, and the muffin was moist and warm. PARKING (Varied: FREE this instance): I found a spot in the large public lot directly above the restaurant off of Florencita Dr. Otherwise, there were metered spots along the main drag of Honolulu Ave. and all surrounding side streets- 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A packed layout filled with tables inside and along the front sidewalk, the decor was as if grandmothers united and gave it a country farm house appeal https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=HWq31BkepPCR8uWcUf4Gtw with odds-and-ends and knickknacks. There were no TVs nor could I recall any background music over all of the loud conversations. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to revisit The Black Cow Cafe, and hoped to return soon. The menu was packed, the food was good, the prices were comparable, and the service was busy but manageable. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $69.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). Five stars. We'll definitely be back, especially over the holiday season, and we're looking forward to visiting other restaurants in the area too.

We have come here many times and always enjoy it. Good food, good vibe, good people as always. Our…read moreissue last night was with our server, Daniel. We thought he was a new employee because he had no clue what he was doing. He had NO personality no interest in general. When he first came to our table he didn't say hello or offer us appetizers or a cocktail. He asked for our dinner order. We ordered the fajita quesadilla and a combo plate. Daniel brought me the wrong taco; the taco was mostly lettuce and cheese very little meat ~ I was surprised because when I ordered this in the past it was excellent and done right (Not his fault tho he did write down my taco order incorrectly). He never came back to our table to check on us. When we were done we asked for a box because we had a lot of food left. He looked at it and brought us a tiny box. What was he thinking?? We asked the bus boy for another and he brought us the correct size. It was hard to get Daniels attention; we tried a few times to flag him down but he wasn't looking at us. We watched him a few different times throughout our time there, to see how he was with the other tables. We came to the conclusion that he looked like a fish out of water. Maybe he was overwhelmed even though the restaurant was a little more than half full last night at 5:30. Then he brought us our check while we were still eating! I told him I wanted to order dessert. Again, he had no clue what he was doing. I suggest the management take a look at this review and address this issue with him. Our experiences here have always been great, been coming for years. We love this place but we would never have Daniel as our server again.
