This is the place to be in Glendale. It's gets super busy around lunch and dinner, and with not a lot of seating or parking, you should plan accordingly. Great Pad Thai and iced tea. Always a solid meal coming to eat at Thai Original BBQ. We went right at opening on a Tuesday evening and the food came out piping hot and fresh. The go-to is always the S1 (Kai Yang) with their delicious in-house honey sauce. My daughter loved the S1's fried rice with shrimp that we had to order another plate of it. I ordered the bbq pork spare rib with shrimp fried rice on Sep 14. It was so good. The ribs were mostly tender, some parts were tough. I loved the sauce that was included, I got to control the amount I poured. The shrimp fried rice was light and fluffy. Perfect with the bbq pork. I was full by the end of the meal. It took until 11:45 for them to confirm that they never received my order from door dash, but asked about my order several times so I assumed it was being prepared. Have been going to this location for the past 30+ years since a kid to an adult. The consistency has always been there which was very tasty and flavorful. Tonight felt very off with the Pad Thai with pork. It was too soupy and very sweet than normal to a point where my mom could not eat it anymore. I've been to other chains of locations; 3rd Street-Los Angeles, Cerritos, West Covina and one that's close to Universal Studio, they are all good. However, my experience with Glendale location., It was horrible compared to others. Pork ribs BBQ (S2) was hard and burned. Sweet Angel (S6) stuff chicken has nothing but all breading shaped like a chicken wings, barely has chicken meat on it. Pad See-Ew Noodles did not have any flavor at all. The noodles were saggy and the meat was dry, although it was tender, it did not taste like meat. All the dishes I had tasted bad and nasty. I noticed all the food got cold quickly. "It looks like" dishes were pre-made and were just microwaved prior they were served .It might be the reason why the BBQ was hard and burned. The server was very serious, not smiling nonetheless at least not rude. I only saw the server three (3) times; when the order was taken, food was served and check was rendered. Other than that, never visited our table to checked if everything is ok or if theirs anything that we need or like. Not to mention the place was not even busy at all. I would say there were only 4 tables with customers. With this experience, sad to say I'm not coming back anymore. Probably even in the other locations, it may take a while. This multi-location family-owned Thai restaurant was at its peak of their popularity during the 80s/90s... not so much anymore... most foodies that love traditional Thai food or been to Thailand probably won't like it here. Just a confident guess. Everyone who's written a 3 star or less review complains how this place doesn't serve authentic Thai food or the service is RUDE. And, they are right on both, lol. In terms of food, "authentic" Thai is not what this place tries to do and I am OK with that. The food here is constant and some of it tasty...yes, I have tried EVERYTHING on the menu since childhood, yikes! Stick with the "house favorites", which is not very Thai, but it's good. The popular house favorites are: the BBQ Pork Ribs or BBQ Chicken, Beef/Chicken Satay (their house peanut sauce is good), and Crab Fritter - make it a "combo plate" and they include Shrimp Fried Rice to your meal.
