I was really disappointed with our experience at Thai BBQ in Glendale on 10/2/26. My grandmother brought me here for my birthday because she LOVES this restaurant and always talks about how good the food is. She convinced me to order the Seafood ALA Thai BBQ soup because it's one of her favorites. When the soup came, I thought it was extremely sour. Since it was my first time trying it, I thought maybe that was just how it was supposed to taste. But my grandmother immediately said it didn't taste the same as usual. Our original server, Pam, was very nice and apologized. She offered to have it remade, but we declined and just asked if it could be removed from our bill. Then another employee, Meta, came over, and unfortunately that's when the experience went downhill. She told us she couldn't remove the soup because we had already poured it into our individual bowls. How else were we supposed to taste it? We obviously couldn't drink it straight from the serving bowl. What bothered me even more was when she started telling us that we needed to add sauce to make it taste better. The way she spoke to us made us feel like we didn't know how to eat the soup or that we were the problem. My grandmother has ordered this soup many times before and knows how it normally tastes. It wasn't about the price of the soup. It was about how the situation was handled. We weren't asking for free food or trying to cause a problem. We simply didn't like the soup and explained why. I'm a flight attendant, so I work in customer service every day and understand that you can't always make every customer happy. But there is a respectful way to handle a complaint without making customers feel talked down to. I didn't want to argue anymore, so we packed our food, paid, and left. It honestly ruined my mood, especially since this was supposed to be a nice birthday meal with my grandmother. Our do want to give credit to Pam because she was kind and professional. This is the place to be in Glendale. It's gets super busy around lunch and dinner, and with not a lot of seating or parking, you should plan accordingly. Great Pad Thai and iced tea. When I lived in the area, my family and I would always go to that spot. Over the years, it hasn't really changed that much. My father and I really love the satay sticks. The go-to is always the S1 (Kai Yang) with their delicious in-house honey sauce. My daughter loved the S1's fried rice with shrimp that we had to order another plate of it. I ordered the bbq pork spare rib with shrimp fried rice on Sep 14. It was so good. The ribs were mostly tender, some parts were tough. I loved the sauce that was included, I got to control the amount I poured. The shrimp fried rice was light and fluffy. Perfect with the bbq pork. I was full by the end of the meal. Menu: Larb Neau Spicy. Ground beef cooked and mixed with dried chili, fresh chilies, lime juice, herb and spices. Topped off with mint leaves and served on a bed of fresh lettuce. Placed an order for pick up @ 11:20, arrived @11:10 to get ahead of the crowd. Watched 7 to go orders before they followed up with me. It took until 11:45 for them to confirm that they never received my order from door dash, but asked about my order several times so I assumed it was being prepared. This chain is one of my favorites in SoCal. We always order the S-1 BBQ Chicken Dinner with extra sauce. Chicken is always moist, and fried rice is flavorful. They used to give more shrimp in the fried rice, but this past visit, we were only given 2 per meal. We always order Thai Tea as well. Parking was easy in the lot. Service was ok. Have been going to this location for the past 30+ years since a kid to an adult. The consistency has always been there which was very tasty and flavorful. Tonight felt very off with the Pad Thai with pork. It was too soupy and very sweet than normal to a point where my mom could not eat it anymore. The Thai tea drinks are a 16oz clear cup. Now, the menu says $4 per drink. I asked for no ice on two out of four of them. They charged $6 per drink. There explanation was because they need to add more tea if there is no ice. We laughed because we weren't going to argue over a $4 extra charge but that was just ridiculous. What is discouraging from going back was the attitude and petty extra charge, especially since we just tipped 30%. But going to change the price on us for requesting no ice in two drinks. I've been to other chains of locations; 3rd Street-Los Angeles, Cerritos, West Covina and one that's close to Universal Studio, they are all good. However, my experience with Glendale location., It was horrible compared to others. Pork ribs BBQ (S2) was hard and burned. Sweet Angel (S6) stuff chicken has nothing but all breading shaped like a chicken wings, barely has chicken meat on it. Pad See-Ew Noodles did not have any flavor at all. The noodles were saggy and the meat was dry, although it was tender, it did not taste like meat. All the dishes I had tasted bad and nasty. I noticed all the food got cold quickly. "It looks like" dishes were pre-made and were just microwaved prior they were served .It might be the reason why the BBQ was hard and burned. The server was very serious, not smiling nonetheless at least not rude. I only saw the server three (3) times; when the order was taken, food was served and check was rendered. Other than that, never visited our table to checked if everything is ok or if theirs anything that we need or like. Not to mention the place was not even busy at all. I would say there were only 4 tables with customers. With this experience, sad to say I'm not coming back anymore. Probably even in the other locations, it may take a while. I've been to this place a handful of times, the food is good but not anything to write home about. This last visit was definitely my last time coming here, HORRIBLE service. Our server took our order and dropped it off and we never saw her again. I wanted another drink and some hot sauce and couldn't get it because she was busy doing everything else like side work.
