Outstanding Bagels here folks. There is something to be said about a hand Artisan made Bagel and smear. We enjoyed a toasted swiss and bacon bagel with onion n chive home made smear and a jack and green chille toasted bagel with the same smear...Dam! Feast for the taste buds to go! Perfect traveling food and a must for some quick fuel to gear you up for the fun ahead. We had lox and cream cheese sandwich on an onion bagel that was hands down the best we've had anywhere. The bagel was made with onion seeds in the dough and onions on the top baked with the bagel. It was slightly chewy and soft just like a bagel should be. The sandwich was lightly toasted and prepared to order (we like the NY style without cukes and tomatoes, etc. -- just cream cheese, lox, onion, and capers). The lox had a pleasant lightly smoked flavor similar to my homemade lox. As for service, we waited and waited. Then a woman called my name and apologized that the yellow post-it with my order had fallen off the bench and that was why we had not been served. She got right to work on it. The quality of the bagel was worth the wait. Price of our lox sandwich was $7.00 as of the date of this review. We will be back here the next time we stay in Placerville! read more

We love this place for the yummy breakfast bagels. We usually come once/week to get our fix. The girls are really nice, always pleasant and courteous. The reason for my 3 stars.... This place constantly has dirty tables and crap all over the floor . Often times we are here and the girls have no customers, they are just standing behind the counter chatting . Can someone in charge please tell them about maintaining the eating area. We've probably been here 15 times and not ONE time have we been able to sit at a clean table . C'mon. read more

Husband and I have been long time customers for over 6 years. I would say within the last year it's definitely gone downhill. They stopped selling a few different flavors but pizza and pepper jack were favorites for both of us :( I asked for a plain bagel double toasted and extra cream cheese. She wrote down cream cheese but not extra, I asked again for clarity if I could do extra and said I didn't mind if there was a small fee for it. When my order was ready I asked the other girl preparing the bagels if it has extra cream cheese she hesitated said yes and when I got to the car to eat it, there was barely enough cream cheese to cover the bagel alone. Husband got a breakfast burrito which was super cold on the inside. Sadly, we been through this many times now. Don't waste your money. read more

I have been eating bagels from this shop for probably 15 years. I don't remember when I first stopped in, but it became something I craved. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their bacon and Swiss bagels, with butter, with cream cheese, with jalapeño cream cheese, with the jalapeño scramble...not sure that is what it is called, but it has jalapeños, sausage and egg on it. Or just plain I like their pizza bagels as well...and I can't say I have tried the others, but I am sure they are also yummy. read more

The bagel varieties are creative and tasty. I am always happy with the quality of my coffee. Its an all around good morning stop and I look forward to coming here when I have business in Placerville. My complaint though is in customer service. I specifically told the young lady making the bagels that I did NOT want sandwich cut on my lightly toasted bagel with cream cheese. In fact I repeated it again at the counter. Several minutes later the girl asks if I had gotten my bagel yet, which was a no. I repeated AGAIN, NO SANDWICH CUT. I should have checked her work. I see in my car after I have drove off... it's a sandwich cut. Is competent service dead? Do people just not know how to listen? read more

This place has great breakfast bagels. Me and the family stopped by on our way to Sierra Tahoe for some skiing. I had the bacon Swiss egg sandwich and my wife had the garlic and havarti,Both were excellent, buttery and full of flavor but not over powering. We will definitely stop there again. . If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would in a heartbeat! I walked in today 2 minutes before they closed and the girls working were more than willing to help us before they finished their closing routine. After bearing with us through our lack of ability to make a quick decision, we decided on spinach Parmesan bagels with salmon and cream cheese. The girl at the counter checked us out and the other girl made our sandwiches. She mentioned that she loves this particular combination but adds avocado to it. My mouth hung open with desire and, even though she was already staying later to help me and my friend, she offered to add avocado at no extra charge. This, in my opinion, is the pinnacle of customer service. Ensuring that a customer has the best experience possible while anywhere is exactly what customer service is about. These two young ladies went above and beyond for me and my friend today and my stomach is incredibly grateful. Bagel works, next time I'm in Placerville, you can guarantee I will be paying you a visit and recommending you to everyone I know. Thanks for the great service and the yummy food! :) read more

I've been going to the BagelWorks for about 15 years now. Up until now I've been a loyal customer. But in the last 2 years, something with management has changed. 1. I got a breakfast sandwich with mold in it. It happens. I called to let people know (so they would check their supplies and not give it to more customers). The woman who answered the phone said that there was no way my sandwich had mold in it. I said there was, and to check the bread/ tomatoes, etc. She denied it again, and told me to show her the sandwich. I was commuting to work, so I couldn't do that. I threw the sandwich away. They didn't offer any kind of compensation (another sandwich, a credit, etc). To me that's bad customer service. I chalked it up to a one-time event, and gave the business the benefit of the doubt. 2. I've been ordering the Veggie Works sandwich ($8.50 from online menu) for years, and asking for mustard since it's all vegetables and cream cheese. I found out 2 weeks ago that they've been charging me another $.50 for the mustard! They never told me until I asked, 2 weeks ago. $.50 for mustard on an $8.50 veggie sandwich? Not telling the customer about the additional fee? Bad business practice. read more

Went to bagel works for the first time the other day. My husband is temporarily working out there and has been talking non stop about eating lunch there. He ordered me a turkey and cheese sandwich on a spinach parmesan bagel with pesto cream cheese on the bottom and oh my goodness it was amazing. So flavorful and so fresh. It's a cute little place. I was so happy my husband finally took me. The only thing I think they can work on is being friendlier. But overall it was great. read more

WORST SERVICE LATELY!! Asked for my bagels to be toasted. I get 12 bagels once a week for my staff. I get them to work, once 4 bagels are toasted. The girls are more RUDE!! I try all the time to call them in earlier to see if that would help! NO ONE EVER ANSWER THE PHONE!! Take it off your google, yelp and yellow pages!! I think I will start going to get donuts!! So many options for bagels and cream cheese with great prices. And yummy coffee. But once the line gets too long they start barely toasting the bagels to get them out quickly so when you get your bagel it's not warm anymore and it's not even toasted. Instead of sacrificing the quality of food to speed it up, just take your time and make it right. read more

This place was horrible. First, the service was slower than a snail. We were there on a Saturday at around 10:00 a.m. and there was 2 young girls working. One was at the register and one was making the orders. The one making the orders was wearing gloves that she did not change once, while I was watching. She went to the back to get more cheese, same gloves. She opened the door to the microwave. Same gloves. She made 5 orders prior to ours. Same gloves. I am a vegan, so I expected that a bagel shop would have hummus. Nope. I expected that they would have vegetables for their sandwiches. I ordered the "Veggie Wrap". What is was: a huge, flour tortilla, the insides containing 3 slices of cucumber, one slice of avocado, a few flakes of lettuce, about a teaspoon of sprouts, and 2 tomato slices. Wrapped in a huge tortilla. It was very lame. Horrible. I tried to jazz it up with some mustard. That did nothing to help. The "wrap" was $6.00! Horrible food. Horrible service. The food was good, but the customer service terrible. The girls working behind the counter had limited communication with us resulting in the rating of one star. They were out of avocado, but failed to mention it until after we ordered and paid for sandwhiches with avocado. They offered to substitute the avocado with cream cheese, but we aren't fans of cream cheese. They didn't offer to reimburse us. Also, we paid for a large smoothie and received a small. As we began to eat our sandwhiches they asked us to leave since it was closing time. Being upfront when we walked in by letting us know that it was close to closing time and would be promptly kicked out upon paying for our sandwhiches and they were low or out of certain items would have been appreciative. This company has fallen down hill more then any other I've ever been to! What a crying shame-good unique food [when made correctly] but the poorest service in Placerville. I blame the owner, Kelly. As a past student of hers I was excited to find out she started a business. At the beginning there was no question about the quality work and food this company provided but now it is all I can do to sit there waiting for my food and not complain. I tried explaining my frustration to Kelly on multiple occasions and the only thing she did was apologize. She should avoid hiring little girls to do a woman's job. The girl that works for some HVAC company really needs an attitude check. Not only have I been displeased with how long it takes to prepare food but I cannot even order to-go. They answer the phone and set it down [I've seen] or worse they shut the phone off. The staff refuses to relay any concerns to Kelly - as they know the work they produce is poor. At this point it may sound like I'm ranting but I really want people to be warned before considering this place. In the past we would discontinue going there due to the frustrations listed [the tip of the ice berg is all I've described-this really could be a novel :) ] but now I regret going and waiting 30 mins to get locally made food with trash can service. Who gives people dirty looks for coming in? Who intentionally plays phone games as not to deal with orders? Who argues with clients when food is made incorrectly?
