Half of the plain bagel, lol I ate the other half before the review

This bagel spot is a great, fresh bagels made daily and made to order! I ordered 2 plains bagels and a blueberry bagel with cream cheese. My son ate the whole plain bagel and gave it 2 thumbs up. They also have an extensive menu for breakfast sandwiches. I can tell they're bagels are made fresh and glad I found this place. The coffee is pretty good too. I'll be returning soon. Nice job

I have been here twice for an egg and cheese on poppyseed bagel. The sandwich is good. Bagels are not too tough and not too fluffy. Surprisingly they serve La Colombe coffee which is really great coffee. I have purchased it at whole foods just a couple of times because it is pretty expensive. The place isn't the best looking (inside or outside), the signage etc.. is pretty generic, but they are nice people and have a good product.

Ordered a dozen bagels for delivery with cream cheese and the order came crazy fast. These are just like the bagels I love in NYC which is so hard to find. Nice and big bagels, not those little skinny ones. The egg everything bagels are great!

Toasted everything bagel Steak egg and cheese sandwich, and I added a hashbrown !!!

Hard to tell exactly when it opened, as their website offers scant information, but they first started posting on Facebook in 2011 if that is anything to go by. They don't have a large footprint in the NJ brewing scene as they don't distribute to any liquor stores or bars/restaurants (they don't even offer beers in cans to go), and they don't do any big events other than the typical karaoke or trivia nights. What they do offer is a nice place to hang out in an old historic building right on the Main Street in the downtown area, and a solid lineup of beers. One thing that makes them stand out is a great selection of beers on nitro. From my experience with NJ breweries, you're lucky to find a single beer on nitro. At Village Idiot there are seven of them, most of them dessert stouts like a cookie butter white stout and a salted caramel milk stout. All that we tried were delicious and not crazy high in ABV like other dessert stouts. Flights are only $10 which is pretty cheap compared to other NJ breweries. Of note is that as of November 2025 they no longer allow outside drinks including water bottles like Nalgenes and Stanley Cups. Too many idiots sneaking in alcohol, according to their social media. Overall it has a bit more of a dive bar vibe only frequented by locals rather than a traditional NJ brewery, but the beer is definitely good enough, and the surrounding Main Street charming and quaint enough that I would definitely return.

There's a large parking lot across the street which makes for ease of access and there's also on street parking. My typical brunch booze is mimosas or espresso martinis but since they had quite an impressive and well thought out boozy brunch menu I opted for non traditional martinis that just made sense given the weather and warmth inside - French Toast Martini & a Rice Pudding Martini. Both a 10/10! Flavorful, strong and mighty and fun! We wanted to try a few things for our entrees so we decided to share the Quiche du Jour, Shrimp & Crab Grits, Turkey Chili and a Side of Bacon. When I tell you that this food didn't miss on a single thing ... literally SLAMMING! We ate until we couldn't eat anymore, ok I lied, we ate until there was just enough room for dessert lol because I had to order the Lemon Bar ... HOMERUN!!!! Seriously not a single thing that could've been better with the entire meal! Our server was also friendly and really thorough too which made for a dare I say it, 5 STAR RATING!!! We're definitely coming back and will bring friends and family when in town bc it's just that dang good :)

The menu is a little small and pretty generic looking but we decided to go with a Strawberry shaved ice (Pink Paradise). Strawberry shaved ice, strawberries, strawberry syrup and boba-balls. Thinking it was going to be very ordinary run of the mill shaved ice, we were pleasantly surprised. They literally shave this ice from a giant block on this neat spinning device, and hand make it start to finish. Adding the toppings sparingly, and precise to make it look as good as it tastes. It was extremely satisfying and most definitely 'refreshing' as we hoped. The ride home was filled with thought of eventually trying other flavors, and dreaming of that wonderful shaved ice. 5 Stars all the way and we can't wait to get more.

I would give this place 5 stars for service and friendliness. The owner let us taste a little bit of the tea before she poured it in a cup. Unfortunately this place gets 2 stars for the quality of the tea. I ordered the taro milk tea with bubbles and without any extra sweeteners, and it was too sweet and very grainy. The mouthfeel of the tea was very off putting, even though I liked the texture of the bubbles. The matcha milk green tea wasn't grainy, but it wasn't anything special, in my opinion. Their other desserts may be better, but I don't think I would get the bubble tea again.
