We just recently tried out the Colonial Cafe in Mount Holly and had an awesome time! I'm from Mount Holly and it's always tough to see small independently owned businesses coming and going, so I'm hoping Colonial Cafe is here to stay for a long time! Besides it being held in a building which is older than the country (which is super cool), the games and seating provided, alongside the cool and funky artwork give people a very laid back cafe feel to play games, drink some coffee and relax. Possibly the worst service I've ever received, in total disbelief by it too considering this is my favorite coffee shop when I come visit. I ordered an Iced Banana Matcha, once the gentleman upfront, who I believe is the owner made it for me handed it over I noticed how milky it was. So I asked him if he could add a bit more matcha. He looked at me then questioned why I would even want more matcha to it. So I mentioned how I ordered one this past weekend and how it was much darker green. He replied with, "Well that defeats the purpose of it being matcha because that's not how I make it and I don't know why she made it like that for you." Once he finished talking I just asked for my money back, I couldn't believe it was that much of bother to serve me a drink with my preferred way of having it. I ended up leaving really disappointed and uncomfortable. He was adamant of knowing "which girl (employee)," it was that made me the matcha over the weekend. read more

I was looking for a coffee shop with pastry and sandwiches in an unfamiliar town This place was located in an old house and very cute. The service was quick and efficient. I ordered an egg sandwich, coffee and of course a pastry. All were very good ( especially the pastry) I did end up parking a block away and don't know if parking was available any closer. The shop is located on a corner on a very narrow street. But may be available around the corner. read more

This is a great spot. Not sure why I haven't been here before? It's so cute. And I was torn as to what to order but the barista helped. I didn't need more sugar but I wanted a cute pic (since it's a hobby of mine), so she helped me land on this flight. She was super helpful. The fall drinks were good- I liked the apple crisp the best. It's another great place to visit and get some work done when the weather is nice- just to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. The cutest local spot coffee shop. It's a hidden gem located on a small street of the Shops at Mill Race. In an old historic building with a front porch and multiple cozy rooms for seating. The coffee options are top notch and Mitch the owner is so great answering questions, giving suggestions, and customizing. Food options include bites and pastries. Strange place to say the least. The inconsistency in ownership and product tells you everything you need to know in the last couple years. They switched almost a year ago to this Philly brand that is just brutal and tough to swallow (Passeros) Asked the cashier (new owner assuming.) for a mug and was told no even though the mugs from the previous regime were right in my face. They also don't do breakfast sandwiches anymore which was what a majority of their base asked for. Wouldn't recommend unless they make some actual changes. read more

Today was my first time actually inside the building and I have to say they've done a great job with the place. They are selling some local coffee from evermore roasters. The food inside smelled great even though I had already eaten, I almost ordered a bagel with lox and cream cheese; next time. The iced coffee is pretty solid and my wife got the luck of the Irish - iced, which is really good. I really like having a local spot as opposed to your typical chain coffee places. Give them a visit, they got some good stuff going on in here. Support local/small business! read more

Cute coffee shop with historical decor and yummy food. I got an iced chai latte and it was the more authentic style chai (not the sugary syrupy kind). It was yummy! I also ordered the avocado toast and loved the pickled onions and sprouts. The red pepper flakes sometimes gave a spicy bite, but it wasn't overwhelming. I enjoyed flipping through a historical book about Mount Holly while I waited for my food. The service was very kind and pretty prompt, even with only one person working. There was a small parking lot nearby, so parking was pretty easy. My friend and I enjoyed sitting and talking in one of the quaint rooms. read more

The North Branch of Rancocas Creek meanders through the lower end of old Mount Holly, NJ, just as it has for centuries. At times the flow is deep and strong enough to capture its energy and justify the building of a mill race for grinding corn and other grains, just as they did in colonial times. This area today called in part The Shops at Mill Race, captures the 18th Century historic essence of the creek side very well. Its ramshackle appearance today makes it charming to experience. Colonial Cafe on White Street feels like a time capsule from that bygone era. Hidden within its clapboard siding is a small coffee house and kitchen with side rooms for sitting about and engaging with friends. Curated caffeinated beverages are available from the barista on duty, and simple breakfast and lunch fare can be gotten for reasonable prices. I just wanted regular brewed Java and a light bite. Their Bunn drip machine worked its magic, while the short order chef made me a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on brioche roll. I sat at a small antique table by a side window across from a copy of the famous painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware, and relaxed into my meal this late morning after court. The sun shone brightly through the window, casting shadows from the pewter candleholders and paper coffee cups. The sammy was good, but a tad salty from the mayonnaise. The Joe was strong and a pleasant jolt to the system. That avocado toast may have been a reasonable alternative. If you love practical living history, Colonial Cafe is your jam. Allow time to let your mind wander to an earlier time when sipping coffee or chewing the beans, and hearing the news of the day when it was the way of the world. read more

Awesome place! The baristas are so friendly and the building has such a great vibe. I got sweet tea with mint/rosemary cold foam and it was outstanding! Like milk tea from a boba shop. The coconut lavender latte was also excellent. This will definitely be our new hang out! read more

I get my coffee here a couple of times a week. Half decaf half regular with warm milk. Very good. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious. Either the sunflower seed bagel or a croissant toasted with egg and cheese. Worth the carbs for sure. If I have time I'll stay and eat. Inside is comfortable and calming. If I have my dogs with me we can sit on the porch or on the lawn chairs. The staff is always super friendly. They serve local Evermore coffee and I purchase my beans here home grind and brew. I went to this place 3 days in a row, just because I like it so much. I am so impressed! The coffee and food was really good and consistent. Their espresso is easily my favorite in the entire Mount Holly/Eastampton/Westampton/Lumberton area. My group got oat milk latte, cappuccino, americano, and their special latte (can't remember the name exactly) - we were all really loving our coffee every time. We also got breakfast sandwiches and pastries, and we devoured all of it. I fell in love with pork roll/egg/cheese on a sunflower bagel. The sunflower bagel is SO good and I've never had it anywhere else. The raspberry muffin is also really yummy. They get their baked goods from a bakery in Philly - all of it was really fresh and yummy. I'd been to the old coffee shop in the same place - which I liked - and was surprised to see the changes. It's still got a cozy feel to it, but the new owners have gone with a colonial theme - not overdone or kitch. It fits the area and building really well. I really like the paint job that brightened the inside up just enough. There is indoor seating (2 rooms with tables and couches) and a ton of outdoor seating with an outside pickup window. With COVID, I really like that there are 2 rooms for indoor seating so you could potentially separate more easily. I LOVE the outdoor seating. On a nice day, it's a win no matter what! There were two people working each visit. They are really helpful and friendly without being overly chatty (I appreciate kindness without pressure to share my life story). Everything is made to order, so its never going to be as fast as a Starbucks - but it will be well worth it. They are much faster than the old place. If this is a pre-work stop, give yourself a little extra time, and then enjoy the best start to your day with a good cup. For now, this is a great place for pickup or to enjoy coffee/food with friends outside. Once it's more safe to be in crowds, I can imagine myself hanging out here a lot to drink my coffee while reading or people watching. It would be a perfect study place for students. read more

Coffee was actually really good. I got a caramel ice coffee and it was fire. Price was a bit rough as I was attempting to be a gallant man and pay for a woman's drink as well. Felt good in the moment but I cried later when my wallet was empty. The spot is now serving local Evermore coffee, and while I enjoy harvest, I actually like the new evermore better! They have also upped their cappuccino game by making a "wet" cappuccino which has less of the dry foam on top, and they even do the latte art when they mix the espresso and milk read more

I'm glad I finally got a chance to check this place out! I stopped by here on a visit to downtown Mt. Holly on a weekend and got a breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel) and iced latte, and both were delicious. I'm visiting town and have been at this shop every day during my trip, IMO it's the best coffee shop in the area. So far I've only tried the lavender matcha and their cold brew, but the cold brew tastes high quality. The lavender matcha was also delicious and they whisked it before pouring in the milk! The employees are also very helpful & friendly. The location is also great, right in Mill's Run which is prob the nicest part of Main St. Mount Holly. I'm very pleased to have this gem in Mt. I have never written a review for anything before...but this place needs one. I ordered 4 hot chocolates and there were lukewarm and tasteless. It's disrespectful to call this stuff hot chocolate because it tasted and looked like MILK. it was like they showed the chocolate to the milk and called it a day. On top of that, I got charged $1 for whipped cream without being told that whipped cream cost extra. Who charges for whipped cream on hot chocolate? read more
