This is a top tier bagel place. I live in New York and I kid you not, you could not find a better bagel than bagel cafe anywhere in the city. They're big, fluffy, and when they're hot, it's the best bagel I've ever had. No reason this place should have as low of a star count as it does. 5 STARS! Also very creative menu item names. Terrible place! I have been going here for years! Stopped about a year ago why? Cause they always mess up your order! Like how hard is it to add salt pepper and ketchup on a egg bagel? I decided to try them again after a year! Same crap! I repeated 4 times egg on a plain bagel pepper ketchup! 4 freaking times! Nobody else was ordering so i know she heard me. I got a dry ass egg sandwich! To top it off they are expensive! Nope! not me and anyone i know will never walk in here again. The people that work here must hate there life. Fantastic local shop. They do bagels right and some nice damn sandwiches. The staff are always pleasant and quick. My favorite thing about this place: it used to be owned by a Jewish couple from Europe. They hired immigrants from Mexico, Honduras, and Santo Domingo and taught them how to make bagels right. Then they sold the business to a Korean couple. My authentic bagels are from an old Jewish recipe, made by Latino immigrants, in a shop owned by Korean immigrants. I'm eating America. read more

How many times can you ask for Salt, Pepper, and Ketchup (SPK) only to open up a dry Bacon Egg and Cheese? Been going there for years but don't want to put up with it anymore, not at today's prices! I went today and something has changed. I asked for a bacon egg and cheese and a plain bagel. They put the be&c on a plain bagel and blamed me. I'd repeated the order several times. Walked in to a friendly smile and warm hello. There was a large selection of bagels. I got an everything bagel with cream cheese. The cream cheese was not piled on super thick but I like it that way. If I am in the area I would come back and get a breakfast sandwich. read more

Overall have had good experiences here. They have messed up our order a couple of times, even after repeating it back to us (e.g. wrong spread on the wrong bagel) but otherwise the bagels come out fresh and delicious. Large iced coffee is a bit pricy ($3.25 for a large whereas a large iced coffee at Dunkin' half a mile down the road is $2.79) but otherwise the prices are fair - $5.50 for two bagels with cream cheese. I live so close to this bagel shop that going to any other bagel shop is out of my way so when I'm in a rush, I give them a chance over and over again and every time I go my order is messed up one time I ordered a bagel with cream cheese, a buttered roll, and a hash brown. They put the hash brown inside the buttered roll, and I ordered in 20 minutes before arriving still wasn't ready they had to make it on the fly Today I went in and asked for one bagel not to be toasted with cream cheese and jelly and another bagel toasted with just cream cheese. They had to come back and ask me what my order is again after already charging me then I had to fix it because they made it wrong and at the end still made the order wrong I just did not want to wait anymore, if you have time go to any other bagel shop in this area and you will have a 10 times better experience somebody needs to take this place over and make some changes. They don't even ask for names for pick up orders so you have to reset your order over and over again I'd be surprised if anybody got their order 100%, correct read more

I'm dropping my rating since I last wrote a review. The only thing I think is even decent anymore in this place are the bagels (sometimes)...the breakfast sandwiches taste like they are cooked with old burnt oil on a dirty flat grill top...the coffee is watered down and the filters are dirt - the coffee has a stench and burnt bitter taste. Not sure if it's new management or owners, but the quality of everything has declined considerably and the prices are still high. read more

This is the default place for high schoolers to get a quick breakfast or lunch. Awesome Taylor Ham, Egg, & Cheese (to out of staters, yes, that's actually what we have for breakfast here) and their coffee is probably the best you can get around this area. Good selection of drinks too - 99¢ Arizona cans are the best. read more

I come here early in the morning for a bagel and coffee. I haven't tasted bagels this good in my life. The quality of the ingredients they use are e top notch. Sometimes there's a small line in the morning but the staff here is efficient and quick and I get out of there quickly after picking up my food to head to work. read more

I'm surprised there are no reviews here yet. Bagel Cafe 23 has, by far and unchallenged, the greatest bagels in the world. They must import water from the arctic or something (I've heard arctic water is the best kind of water..), because their bagels are unbelievable. Just ok bagels. The price is on the high side. The layout for placing your order/paying/pickup really stinks. If there is a line they'll make you yell your order over everyone and then there is no way to even get them your money without bowling through the other people waiting... Really frustrating and becomes high anxiety, too much for breakfast! I constantly feel rushed and anxious here... people are always walking out shaking their heads because of how hectic and uncomfortable it is. I placed an order ahead of time for 6 mini onion bagels and 6 plain bagels. Picked it up Easter morning and even though I was charged for a dozen mini bagels, I discovered when I went to serve them that all I had was 7 plain mini bagels. I went back to get more, but they were out of minis. What really got me was their attitude and at first they wouldn't give me a refund. Told me it was impossible they made a mistake. And I couldn't prove I only received 7. Will never go there again. read more

I live a few blocks away and refuse to give them any business. The two women who work there are so nasty. The one that kind of looks like Salma Hayek (but busted) literally had a screaming match with me, a customer! I had to walk out and let my boyfriend deal with her. So unprofessional, just give me my bagel, swipe my card, and be done with it. I went again and when I walked in she whispered something in Spanish to the bigger girl. And they both laughed. I heard 'ella' but the rest was muffled. Classy ladies, talking about customers! Last chance, they charged my boyfriend 12 bucks for two BECs, and we got home and one was just an everything bagel, one was the correct order. We went back and the lady rang him up AGAIN. He threw a fit, refused to pay and left with the right order. Sad because it's a local business, but to management: your staff is low rent! read more

I have lived here since 1967. I go to this store maybe twice a year. On Thursday the 18th of April 2014, I ordered tea with milk and 1 sugar. the female worker made the tea too light ( too much cream my tea looked white) so I ask for a new tea bag. She just used the old tea bag and cup. The Hispanic owner asked in Spanish"What is going on?" which I understood. He told me that now he had to wasted a tea bag. I offered to pay but he said " no" with the bad attitude. NOW I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS IS AMERICA!!!!!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OUR # 1 PRIORITY IN SMALL OR RETAIL BUSINESS. read more
