There were loaf cakes (lemon poppyseed, chocolate chip sour cream, and other flavors) , a few types of doughnuts, and kugel on offer as well, but we did not try any of them since we knew we would likely devour those also. Scrumptious! I have always loved Bagel Bin. Thankfully, they are still open in these pandemic times. My favorites are the jelly doughnuts, lox cream cheese and salt bagels. All of their bagels are great, my toddlers love the cherry flavored ones. I had a piece once expecting it to be awful, but the cherry flavor was actually pretty light. They also make my favorite challah. They sell both small individual buns and big loaves. This brings me to other types of bread. The lemon poppy seed bread is so good. Bagel Bin is so many things to me. First, it's home to the best everything bagel and lox in all of Omaha. Second, it's where I can go for fresh challah bread loaves on Thursdays. Third, it's where I can go to study and get free refills on my coffee (they bring me my bagel and check in to see if I need coffee refills). Fourth, it's fun to people watch. You see a lot of regulars coming in, families sharing breakfasts, grandparents bringing their grandkids to spoil them with a donut, and retired friends gathered around a table for coffee talk. Bagels are great, but service could use some work. I've gone twice and both times, the staff always has their back turned to customers. One of the best bagels I've ever had! The perfect blend of chewy and flavorful as all bagels should be. They had a chocolate chip cream cheese that was chocolate with chocolate chips! Score! I had that on a plain bagel and then an Asiago cheese bagel with plain cc. The Asiago one was heavenly. They charged a dollar extra for that kind and the cinnamon crunch one too. Placed an order for 2 bakers dozens; one of egg bagels and one was split between onion and double onion. They got the egg and onion correct, but instead of a half-dozen double onion, I got poppy seed. Not sure how you can confuse double onion with poppy seed. It was 25% of the order wrong. Their bagel are great, which is why I wanted to make sure I got some on my way out of Omaha on a recent visit. Where do you go when you need to kill time between a wedding ceremony and a reception? Bagel Bin, of course! We stopped in one day, in need of a small snack, and a comfortable place to kill some time with our new baby. Bagel Bin was a great fit for us! The staff at the counter was incredibly friendly, and either our confused look, or our over-dressed selves made it clear that we were new. She quickly gave us a run down of the menu and -unprompted- told us about all the "regular's favorites" and owner's specials. We started with an Apple cinnamon bagel, toasted with apple butter because... well, it's fall y'all! The bagel was so clearly very fresh, and the apple butter was a great option! We were there toward the end of their day, and we noticed a sign on the pastry case: "50% off all items in the case after 4P." We waited awhile and then splurged on a cake donut. Y'all: I love my donuts. This cake donut we got was EASILY a 5 Star donut. So so so so so dang good. Not dry at all, lovely flavors in the cake portion itself, and a perfect frosting! So I've waited to comment on Omaha's bagel scene as I'm relatively new to the area. I've been here several times and tried so hard to like the bagels at Bagel Bin. The staff and owners are lovely people, friendly and welcoming, but their bagels are Meh at best. My last visit I ordered an everything bagel not toasted with lox spread. This was very early in the day, but the fresh bagel was dry with a texture like a day old supermarket bagel. I'm not sure if I keep hitting them on off days, but as a native New Yorker this is not what a bagel should be. I actually think Breuger's bagels come a lot closer to the crisp outside and chewy inside I'm used to eating. I'll keep looking for a better bagel in Omaha, but sadly I'm done with the Bagel Bin read more

Maybe I was spoiled with bagel places back in Boston, but this place was just okay. I did go on a Saturday morning so it was bustling. The hardest part for me as a first-timer was that the menu was on the far side (where you pay) rather than where you order and without superhuman vision, I couldn't see it - or get to it because it was too crowded to move around where I would need to be to see it. When I asked the employee if they could do a breakfast sandwich, she practically laughed at me (not in a nice way) like "umm of course we can." Ehh not what I expected. Heard they were from Long Island. But sadly these are not east coast bagels. They are lacking the texture, chewy gluten structure, and hard outer crust of a NY bagel. My slightly toasted egg bagel easily broke apart as I bit into it as opposed to having to tear it with with my teeth. My guess is they aren't using bread flour. Secondly, you can't get an iconic east coast Taylor ham/pork roll, egg and cheese. I ordered a dozen bagels, (they give you a baker's dozen), a combination of sesame, everything, and super onion. Bagels tasted great. However, I requested the bagels sliced. Some of the slices were so "off" that the bagel could not be used. Some had just the top barely skimmed off, and some were lopsided. Yes, they were still edible, but not useable for bagel and lox sandwichs. This is a minor complaint, but the lady that was doing the slicing had to know that the slices were "off". She put them in the bag anyway. That is my complaint. The only place I'll buy bagels in Omaha! When I want to treat myself to a great bagel on the weekend I head to the Bagel Bin, they have the most authentic NYC style bagels in Omaha. They have great specialty sandwiches made on bagels, but by the time I walk in all I crave is a delicious everything bagel with cream cheese. I usually eat there and then buy bagels for the rest of the week to bring home. Ask for a freezer bag so that you can keep your bagels fresh all week. I love all the options available, and there is usually a specialty bagel of the day. The only down side is that they are only open until 5pm during the week, so I can't go and stock up after work for the next day and just requires a little planning ahead.
