Your story states that Bagel Bin is "a pioneer of the New York-style bagel in Omaha and the city's inaugural destination for this quintessential treat." Because of that, our expectations were high. Unfortunately, our visit did not reflect what's described. The ordering area was unclear for first-time customers, with no obvious signage showing where to order or where to pick up. The main disappointment was the bagels. I always order a plain bagel as a baseline. Having grown up in Brooklyn, NY in the 60s-70s, I'm very familiar with what a true New York-style bagel should be: * A tight, dense crumb with tiny air pockets -- compact but still soft * A chewy crust, not crunchy -- a gentle tug when you bite * Clear freshness -- when warm, it should smell like flour, steam, and malt What we received was dry and lacking chew, with none of the aroma or freshness expected from a hot-water-boiled, freshly baked New York-style bagel. It tasted more like something that had been sitting than something just made. We were genuinely excited to visit and left disappointed, which is not something we expected given your reputation. If this was simply an off day, I'd appreciate hearing that and understanding what may have happened. If someone from management would like to reach out directly, I'd welcome a conversation and the opportunity to experience the bagels as they're intended to be. Here's their response on Google: We open at 5am for all the freshness and aromas you desire. Thanks for the review. Here's my follow up response: I'm disappointed by this response. My feedback focused on quality, freshness, and expectations set by how the business represents itself -- none of which were addressed here. Thoughtful, critical feedback should be an opportunity for engagement and improvement. Ignoring it sends a message about how customer concerns are valued.

First off, $3.59 for a tiny simply lemonade is ridiculous. Truly unbelievable. But that's only where it begins. The person who took the order doesn't speak English so my order was submitted wrong. Why would you hire someone who isn't fluent in English to take orders? Then the manager was unpleasantly aggressive towards the chef who was trying to make things right. But not before giving me a dirty look for having to ask the non-English speaking staff to repeat herself as well as telling her I can't understand what she was trying to say. DP ordered Lemon Berry Pancakes, a plate-filing short stack of goodness. I'd like to say it tasted as good as it looked, but I couldn't tell as DP chowed down like a hound from hell. In a good way, of course. She did allow me to share her Maple Braised Bacon (meaning that I was able to snatch a piece while she wasn't looking). Really, really fine, something I'd definitely order again. For me. Not to share. I had the Schnitzel Bennie with tart cherry jam and lemon hollandaise. Sound unusual? Tasted great! My only gripe was that the pork cutlet was a bit small and could have used a bit more seasoning in the breading. Would I order it again? You betcha! Service was fast and efficient. The decor was quirky and inviting but the space was loud enough that it was really hard to carry a conversation. Overall rating: yahoo!

We said first available seats, which ended up being at the end of the bar. More about that later... I ordered the vegan standard and hubs ordered the banana bread French toast. The server was friendly and the food came out in a timely manner, considering the place was packed. Regarding the vegan standard, it seems they have cut back on the amount of tofu scramble and increased the amount of hashbrowns, which was a little bit disappointing. As usual it was very tasty though! I tried a bite of the hubs French toast and it was VERY unique and tasty! II will be getting that next time. I was disappointed to hear that they haven't brought back the vegan biscuits and gravy, but maybe once again they will! So the food was great but our experience, not so much, based on where we were sitting. I feel like they should not even use the last spot at the bar to seat a patron. Right next to where I was sitting is the place they bring the clean silverware to dry it off, then they would toss it into the silverware holder. The noise was very annoying and they did nothing to try to even be quiet about it. The other thing about that location is the register is pretty much right in your face, like 15 inches directly in front of me and someone was pretty much there the whole time. Other areas of the bar wouldn't be quite so bad, but next time we will wait longer to get a table or sit at the bar top that looks outside instead of at all the workers doing their thing and talking to each other. Other than the location of where we sat this visit, this is still one of our top spots for a yummy vegan breakfast, and we will be back!

I ordered the build-your-own breakfast sandwich and went with one of their listed favorites: an asiago bagel with egg, cheese, and pork sausage. For my beverage, I ordered the maple chai, which I was excited about, but unfortunately the flavor fell a bit flat and didn't really taste like maple or chai. I love the mission and atmosphere, and I'm glad it exists in Omaha, but I'm not sure I'd go back based on my experience. That said, given how busy it was, it could've just been an off day for me.

I drove through yesterday morning around 10am. They weren't horribly busy. I waited 5 mins at the window to even order. There was one car in front of me. One. Ok. No big deal. Maybe they were busy inside? When I finally ordered, I asked the young woman for the Herby Turkey with LOTS of sun-dried tomato spread. Charge me extra for it if need be. I don't care. That's my favorite sandwich and I wanted a lot of the tomato spread. I got home and this "lunch sandwich" was absolutely BEYOND PATHETIC. Barely any turkey. Two small pieces of lettuce that didn't even cover half the bagel. The cream cheese spread was hardly there. I couldn't even taste it. And the tomato spread was basically a thimble full on the sandwich. I couldn't taste that either. So much for asking for extra bc that fell on deaf ears. It was basically just the bagel. That's it. See the photos. I refuse to go to this location again if this is how they treat their patrons... what did I pay for? Bc I certainly didn't get a meal. Where is the management when these items are going out? Or during training? This is inexcusable and they should be ashamed of themselves.
