Waited about 15 minutes in line for a well worth it treat! Truly may be Omahas best donuts! Overall value to quality is outstanding. The fluffy and flakey classic glazed has me hooked. Just airy goodness and perfectly sweetened. The chocolate glaze which on the richer side and the crunchy sprinkles were a great touch. They have coffee available for a dollar or so with cream and sugar available which was a nice surprise. They also have bags of dinner rolls available, alongside loafs of bread. Small shop so only a few people can stand inside and order. We paid $9.25 cash for our 1/2 dozen and was pleasantly surprised they have a cash discount, or should say they include fees on the card reader if you use card/tap to pay. Glad to see they had that option available though. Couldn't more highly recommend. Don't stray away because of the line! read more

Olsens bake shop is better than any other donut shop in Omaha, they have all the awards to prove it! Donuts are $1.50 each and they also have turnovers, rolls, and breads you can get too! The women running the shop are quick, they want you satisfied and out the door because the shop is TINY! They are only open from 7:30-12 Tuesday-Saturday so plan accordingly! The raised ring with chocolate frosting is my favorite, it's fluffy and sweet, nothing bad about it. I also love their cinnamon roll donut cake things, it's insane they're only $1.50 each!! read more

I've been coming here for 20 years, and absolutely love this place! The owners are very kind. The place is no frills, a very small shop to enter, and get what you need. My absolute favorite is a long John donut, as they make the perfect whipped cream filling! This is unmatched -- believe me, I've tried many others, and they do not compare to the flavor and texture of this donut!! The price point is great as well, today I got four donuts for six dollars. I highly recommend stopping in and trying a few of their items if you haven't! read more

Get there early for a good assortment! Lots to choose from.My favorites are the fried croissants and the cherry cake donuts. Fabulous! Delicious! Sometimes there is a line out the door, don't let that scare you. Only about 4-5 people inside at a time. It's small. So the line is sometimes outside on the sidewalk. But it moves quickly! read more

It's a small little bakery that has probably just run its course. I got a couple of iced donuts with nuts. They were light and airy but nothing special. I also got 3 flavors of cookies. Peanut butter, oatmeal raisin and toffee coconut. They lacked flavor and may have been a few days old. The Service wasn't rude but not friendly. They probably need to retire. I won't return read more

Hands down - the best donuts in town! Many have tried, many have failed. This is the place where you want to enter into donut euphoria. Though there are many delicious offerings, the star is the classic Glazed Donut. It is a wonderful, light, yeasty treat! It is so nostalgic for how donuts used to be made. You can taste all the sugary love baked right in. Support this long time staple -- and you will NOT be disappointed. Excellent donuts!!! read more

Best donuts in Omaha! I arrived and was greeted by a long line out to the end of the block. Thought that was a good sign and after trying an assortment of a dozen donuts i can verify it was definitely worth it. Great donuts and great people read more

Got a mixed dozen and everything inside was tasty! We especially enjoyed the caramel rolls and turnovers. It's just a little hole in the wall spot, but the line is always out the door. Staff was friendly enough. read more

We stopped by on the way out of town for a quick breakfast. I'm so glad we did! First thing, full stop. Their version of a sour cream old fashioned was the best I've ever had. It was so soft and had great flavor. I wish i had gotten more than one. We also got a plain donut that was good. I think im used to them being more spiced so it was an adjustment at first. It would probably be fabulous as a dipping or dunking donut. I will say I wasnt a fan of the apple kolache(?). Not sure of the spelling. It was an enriched dough with an apple topping in the middle. The dough had a great texture but it ended up tasting like apple pie filling on a hamburger bun to me. Husband agreed. It wasn't badly made, it just wasn't what we prefer in a pastry. Overall we really liked what we got. Next time we are in town we will probably (definitely) grab a few more sour cream donuts. Important note: You might want to get there early because there was hardly anything left when we got there around 9:45! read more

I had read about Olsen Bake Shop while researching where to eat in Omaha and I'm really glad I took the time to stop in. It was a bit out of the way of my hotel, but it's on a main strip and I had a pleasant time walking over. It isn't open too late so you need to get there early. When I arrived, I was the only patron in there and there were three people eager to help me. I ended up ordering a couple of donuts and a kolache (I love kolaches but they're hard to find near me in DC so I was delighted to find them here). The donuts were melt in your mouth fresh and I savored every bite. The kolache itself was great, but the raspberry filling tasted very artificial, which was a letdown. They didn't really have anywhere to sit to eat their treats so I walked down the street and sat on the lawn of a local school. Highly recommend! read more

A non descriptive outside in a mostly residential near downtown neighborhood, Olsen Bake Shop is a-must stop any morning while in Omaha. Closes at 12:30 pm. Enter and you'll be greeted by a pleasant lady who will quickly and efficiently wait on you. A second lady was preparing baked goods in the back. Everything looks like it might've in the 1960's. Super, Super Clean! The doughnuts are so fresh. The ingredients high quality and delicious. Each doughnut is super light. Cost for one doughnut and several doughnut holes was $1.50. Highly recommended. read more

#1. Not even close. Olsen's is by far the best, worth every penny, or should I say worth the drive. Great family too!

Are you looking for wild, crazy donut choices? How about enthusiastic, fun employees to serve you? A place with coffee and a young barista who can whip you up a frappamochalatte? Then find somewhere else...these aren't the donuts you are looking for. This is a donut shop, plain and simple. Classic donuts...chocolate, glazed, long johns, etc. I would call this an old-fashioned donut shop with very fair prices. I haven't loved the more specialty type donuts here like the danishes, but the classic donuts are spot-on and cheap. You can easily leave here for $1/donut. 100% recommend sticking with your favorite classic donut and giving this place a try, but be ready for a line on Saturdays! read more

Olsen Bake Shop - Saturday line - Donuts Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

Great mom and pop type bakery. I wish there more of them. Donuts were very fresh, service was friendly and quick. There was a line but it moved very fast. Had to chuckle as there were two police officers in line ahead of us. read more

On my perpetual doughnut quest, I rank Olsen's as one of the best in the classics category. This no frills bake shop puts out great tried and true classic glazed doughnuts, crullers, iced cake, glazed croissants, etc. The cake doughnut had a great golden color but the cake recipe itself was a little bland. I like a little spice or oomph in my cake doughnuts so these just tasted a bit mild. Quite sweet icing but it wasn't too thick. They're also a bargain at just $1 per doughnut! Some places are selling crazy toppings these days but Olsens sticks to the classics and does them well. During COVID they are limiting capacity to 3 customers at once (it's quite a small shop). So there will likely be a bit of a wait--I think I waited 12 minutes around 10 AM on a Saturday. It's a cute little shop, it's been there quite some time by the looks of it. read more

Love supporting the small independent business owners ! The kind of place that reminds you of your grandma's baked goods.

Such a cute little shop. It's a no frills donut shop, but man are they putting out fire donuts!! My husband and I are harsh critics on donuts, and these were some of the best we've ever had. The cinnamon sugar cake donut WAS the best I had ever had. The woman working the counter was helpful and kind, and had clearly been there long enough to have everything down to a science helping us. We ended up getting a mixed dozen and a dozen donut holes for our trip back to Kansas City. I wish I could say we had some left when we arrived home, but those heavenly glazed treats didn't make it past Mound City. This will be a stop on our trips through Omaha for sure!! read more

OMG, I love this bakery. I went here for the first time with my daughter a couple weeks ago and the donuts were amazing. You walk in and stand in line for a couple minutes since this place isn't a secret any more. I ordered a few glazed/frosted donuts and an apple fritter. They just took the fritter out of the oven and holy geez, it was the best apple fritter I've ever had. The prices are very reasonable as well. $1 -$1.50 or so per donut. The service was friendly and fast. I will definitely be coming back here for a tasty donut! read more

The freshest donuts in Omaha!! We have lived in the "Little Bohemia" part of Omaha for 20+ years and this is a landmark family business. I had not visited Olsen's in a couple of years, dealing with various Covid policies over most of the time, but today is the first day of our family vacation and I had a lot of packing to do for the road trip and I suggested going to buy a few donuts for breakfast. I knew they had re-opened but hadn't seen if their business was back. When I arrived, I had to drive around to get a parking space. I realized, the street was full because of the line for Olsen's. People waited outside for the chance to enter the lobby and place their orders. A donut is $1.25 ($15/dozen) and the owner will give you a smile to start your day. When I got home and ate the glazed donut and the chocolate frosted long john with coconut it was obvious that they were prepared this morning, so minutes old instead of hours or more from the grocery store. If you live in Omaha and want to taste the freshest donuts you can find, come to 10th street, north of the zoo, and visit Olsen's. read more

I haven't been to this bakery personally but a co-worker brought some to work last week and I was amazed - they were the freshest and tastiest doughnuts I have ever had!! Oh oh oh my goodness! These donuts are amazing. So far the best I have eaten. Don't go there for the coffee unless you just like it black.

Still the best.....no other donuts come close... They are just darn good... Let's just say a slogan once said..."You just can't have one." Olsen Bake Shop has provided Omaha with quality baked good for years!! You can't go wrong going to Olsen's Bakery for all your baking needs.

A favorite of our family's for over 25 years, this is a must-visit doughnut shop. Located on 10th Street in Little Italy, Olsen's is a family-owed and operated business that has never once failed to please. Their cake doughnuts offer the perfect balance of fluffy goodness inside with a crisp outside, and of course have either chocolate or vanilla icing. The glazed doughnuts offer a similar combination of crunch and cushion. If you are lucky you will find end pieces from layer cakes in the cooler, and if you are even more fortunate it will be peanut brittle season, sold by the half pound. I also enjoy the special-occasion iced cookies, with shapes selected to match the season. read more
