The independently owned Bagel Bazaar, Main Street Spotswood Shopping Center (formerly Pelican Plaza), provides the best bagels in the area. Their 3 varieties of "everything" are double-sided packed with extra everything. Extensive fresh cream cheese spreads, a quick grill for all egg sandwich favorites (lots of Pork Roll on the grill), combined with friendly eager staff makes this place rock. Bagels have always been great but lately they are more like rolls. I walked in today and the store was about 90 degrees. Not sure if they chose to turn the AC off or it broke but it was unbearable. They had limited varieties (maybe 6-8 options) and only a few of each option. It's only 9am so there should be plenty of options!! This is normally our go to right in town but the last 3 weeks have been all terrible experiences. I called ahead all 3 times. First time we get there and no order. Said someone may have taken it so we had to wait for new order to be made. Next time a sandwich was made wrong and had ketchup when I specifically said no ketchup 3 times and they even repeated it to me and then this morning a plain bagel wasn't plain and a sandwich had no ketchup this time but had egg when again 3 times saying no egg and having it repeated. Was supposed to be just pork roll and cheese. There was barely one piece of pork roll. Then when I paid was charge $2.86 for extra meat because bacon was added to the 'plain' bagel. Also, it helps to call your order in ahead of time if you're in a rush. Always helped me in and out the door rather than waiting so long for your order. I stopped here on whim while in town to visit a relative. Friendly atmosphere, quick service, and my lunch was great. Their home made macaroni salad was amazing and the ham, Swiss, bacon melt on Texas toast was delicious. I would definitely stop here again in my travels. read more

Dirty shirt wearing owner is a not very nice ,I waited for 25 minutes for two sandwiches ,the cook forgot to make my sandwich and then the owner lied and said there were people in front of me ,when I heard the cook say" oh shit I forgot" .not only is the food bad here,The owner is an out right liar ,all he had to do was say sorry we made a mistake but instead he lied ,he will be out of business soon ,the place is dirty filthy and the customer service is absolutely horrible. If I could leave ZERO stars, I would. The husband and wife team are by far the worst business people I've ever dealt with. 1. Advice - count your bagels! I am often given less than I ask for, yet charged the full price. 2. The price on their menu board says one thing, but I am ALWAYS charged more! When I ask why, the reply is 'Oh, our prices have increased.' It has been FIVE months. This is robbery. 3. When you try to order in advance, they are actually rude!! What?? You want to order BAGELS?? I don't even want to give it one star. The guy saw me walk in, he ignored me and helped the guy who walked in after me. And that was after standing there for five minutes. I asked for an everything with cream cheese and he pulled one out from underneath the basket which looked like it had a bite taken out of it. So I changed my order to a whole wheat everything because it looked like there were more than a few to pick from. When I ate the bagel it tasted like it was two days old- STALE. Never, ever again. One stars is being a little generous considering how inatentive they are to their customers. Perhaps they could hire someone who's job it was to actually interact with the customer as the current system seems to consist of everyone milling about in a state of confusion. This is the worst Bagel Bazaar ever. So here we go several months ago was my first encounter. I called to place an order and wanted delivery was immediately told that I should call the other location down the street from where I worked. Now keep in mind I'm calling to give them the revenue but there telling me to go elsewhere. Now let's fast forward to today I work at a doctors office and want to order giving this location another try well this is how well that worked out. Here's what happened. I called place the order and was told again to call the other location when I told the owners wife she said well I thought it would be closer to you when I never gave her my address, when in actuality I'm closer to her location. So I begin to place the order buffalo chicken cutlet with French fries, she tells me that they don't have fries only deep fried chips okay no problem. I also ordered a flounder sandwich with deep fried chips. She said they don't have flounder so I them ordered a chicken cutlet with lettuce tomato and mayo instead. My coworker then goes to pick it up they charge her 21.00 for something that should've cost no more than 12-13 tops. She didn't honor the price nor did she tell us this over the phone that there was a big difference in price and that the chips were extra. I received a bbq sandwich and my coworker received a dry sandwich she stated that the buffalo tasted like that because she added some blue cheese sauce in which I didn't ask for. So when I called she argued that I was wrong. Go figure and to not posted a bad review. Wrong thing when you're not trying to rectify the situation but are making it worst. And trying to blame the customer. If you want good food and great service go elsewhere. read more
