The General Manager came to our table and asked us how we liked it. The answer was- delicious! We had potstickers and "signature" dumplings. Each came with a soup - hot and sour with the dumplings and mini wonton with the potstickers. Both tasted great. The mini wonton soup has gone on my short list of chicken soups for cold and flu season. There were vegan options for our friends who joined us. The green potstickers looked tempting. We risked ordering the mango soy drink, and were rewarded with a sweet, almost dessert-like beverage. Things we didn't have but we definitely want to try: cold side dishes like cucumber salad and tofu with peanuts; the dry beef, sesame, and "signature" noodles, dumplings in other flavors besides signature. The restaurant is not a quiet sit-down. It's a bustling fast food place with a dozen tables. We ordered using a paper menu with pencils, which is always a nice touch at a dumpling house. We were there on their very first day open, and it was already running smoothly. There were experienced servers from other Bafang locations, and there were new people getting trained. Signature Noodles are soooo good. Chewy noodles with chili oil and peanut sauce. Getting this two days in a row. Hot & sour soup comes packed with tofu, mushrooms etc like it should (it's not just a slurry of corn starch). This is legit authentic Taiwanese food! Yay we have dumplings in the Valley now! Get some extra chili oil and mala sauce to make it even spicier. The standout was the potstickers though. The signature potstickers may honestly be the best I've ever had even including trips to Asia. So flavorful they don't need sauces Just a great little spot for an inexpensive meal. Visited for the first time because I was recommended by a friend however I realized the manager or team lead who I later asked for her name was "nino", nino was yelling at the employees the whole time I was having my meal, ordering and up until I even had to leave. The whole restaurant can hear her yelling at the employee's "why are you so slow?! hurry up!! im going to fire you!! dont talk back to me!!", that is completely unacceptable, this is a professional environment no one should harass their employees that way, if theres any way i can report her i will. I'm never eating here again and i encourage everyone not to eat here the food is always better else where and if it's about recommendations I have plenty food was mid at best. The yelling added killed the vibe, the taste and customer service absolutely disgusting. Do better. read more

Oh damn. I was thrilled to find there was a Bafang here in the SFV, not too far from the 99 Ranch and right across the street from Costco. It's like the perfect trifecta! It must have opened recently since they still have their Grand Opening sign up. Delicious dumplings , lots of variety of other dishes and noodles and there's an open fridge case with cold dishes to go (like sliced spicy beef, marinated tofu). We all concluded that the service here is much faster and soup was made a lot better than the Temple City location. And there's way more seating inside as well. For all those not in the know, Bafang is like the McDonalds of Taiwan - there's 1000 locations in Taiwan alone. Craaaazzzy. Came specifically for the beef noodle soup. Walked thru the door just after they opened. Ordered and sat down and waited. First thing I noticed was the dirty white bench seats along the wall. When my order came up, I was handed a tray with the bowl of soup and a napkin. I took this over to a table and removed the bowl and placed it on the table. When I tried to remove the single napkin, I realized it was stuck to the tray because the whole top of the tray was covered in something sticky like honey Kinda gross considering this came from the kitchen, and for some reason was already filthy before I could use it. I feel like there's not a lot of attention to cleanliness here. Now on to the food quality. The beef noodle soup was starved lukewarm. The flavor of the broth was good, and the amount of beef was good, but half of the beef was tougher than a leather boot. The other half was very tender. Of these items, I could probably overlook most of them if the broth was served piping hot, as it should be. If you're the owner here, please press your staff to serve the hot dishes HOT, and to pay attention to the cleanliness of the items coming out of the kitchen. read more

It's great to see more of these fast casual Asian chains pop up in the SFV. If you like pan fried dumplings, go here. I like their other dishes including the Bafang Signature Noodle as well as their hot and sour soup. On chilly and rainy days like we've had in recent weeks, Bafang makes for a welcome alternative to the handful of other chain restaurants nearby. I love that it is located across from Costco. Made it to their grand opening. Their dumplings are made in store! I highly suggest the beef noodle soup- delicious! The spicy version adds a spicy oil but doesnt make it overly spicy. It does however have the numbing spice taste so if you dont like that, avoid getting it spicy. So thankful they opened one of these nearby! Quick, authentic Taiwanese food. I enjoy many of their items, from the signature noodles and beef noodle soup to the potstickers and side dishes. The best item in my opinion are the dumplings. Perfect texture and flavor. They offer the traditional vinegar and soy sauce in self-serving dispensers. I appreciate being able to get "fast food" Taiwanese food in a cozy, laid back environment. There is ample parking in the large lot that is shared with other restaurants and a gym. This will be my new go-to for a quick meal in the Valley. After an aborted visit the first night of the fires (local power outage rendered them unable to make food), I went back for lunch on Saturday during grand opening weekend. The place was full, but the turnover in tables was pretty good, so we were able to secure a spot after placing our order. We got the signature noodles, potstickers, and dumplings. The noodles had a nice, chewy consistency, and the spicy sesame sauce was flavorful. The portion was a little on the smaller side, so I'd recommend getting one of the combos or something on the side. The potstickers were good--crispy on the verge of char on the bottom, juicy on the inside. It's been almost 20 years since I've gone to the Bafang in Taipei, so I can't say how they compare, but they were definitely good. The dumplings were dumplings, reminiscent of the ones you can get in Taiwan. Chewy skin that's thicker than what you might get in gyoza or Korean mandoo. The parking lot is often fairly full with people going to LA Fitness (maybe they should run/bike to their workouts?), but you can definitely find a spot. There's also a Firehouse, Zankou Chicken, Ono, and Wendy's in the same area, so if your friends aren't into noodles and dumplings, they can get something else. Costco Gas is across Sepulveda, so if it doesn't look busy, top off your tank! read more

I am not sure I can properly convey just how elated I am that authentic Taiwanese food has finally arrived to the Valley. As an SGV transplant, acclimating to "leaves a lot of be desired" cuisine in the immediate area has been tough. So tough, I drive weekly to Arcadia, Alhambra, and San Gabriel to get my fix. Ive been meaning to try Bafang out in Rowland but haven't had the chance, so I am very excited to say my first time having Bafang has been the Van Nuys location! Even my nanny was excited to learn of them opening soon, her and her husband live even deeper in the SFV; and are from Taiwan. I was leaving the gym one day a few weeks ago and the red Bafang sign directly adjacent in the plaza caught my eye, I almost jumped for joy and promptly drove over to see if it was *thee* famous Bafang. And it is!! I know how long La County permits can take so I was trying not to be too excited, knowing full well the city does whatever it wants, whenever..but within 2 weeks, I saw the doors open. That same day, I placed a pick up order. Though I've never been to Taiwan, I grew up eating my grandmother's Taiwanese home cooking and the beef noodle soup, wonton soup, porkchop are all *chef's kiss*. So so darn good and made me feel like a kid again. My daughter loved the wonton soup, the skin is so light and soup so rich and flavorful; it was lovely. Porkchop was fried to perfection, lightly coated in cornstarch with seasoning. Beef noodle soup had the perfect amount of sour veggies and cilantro and good portion of beef, the broth was stellar and not too salty. Their oolong soy milk tea with pudding was also out of this world, tea is steeped super well and not from powder. Service was very kind and efficient, everyone was super welcoming and helpful. Restaurant itself was very clean and had a well maintained condiment station. Pro tip: stock up on the garlic sauce and black vinegar for the potstickers. Thank me later. Bafang is having a soft opening and I have been to soft openings and this one feels like a business that has been operating smoothly in the area for years. We dined in and had their vegetarian pot stickers as well as dumplings. Also had iced oolong with milk and no sugar. You can choose the level of sugar. The tea is so good!
