Westfield Fashion Square Sherman Oaks, CA The newest addition to the food court. It looks inviting, and the menu pictures are great too. You order at the register then they give you a tag, look for a place to sit and wait for the buzzer go off. My daughter and I decided to try this out for an early dinner. There was no line which is cool. They don't give cups for water. I ordered the Fried Rice Chicken Bowl. It looks so good on the picture menu but when it came - it wasn't near it. There was much less chicken in it. It filled me up though. And the taste is different from the usual fried rice that I tried. There fried rice and the meal is kind of elevated. My daughter ordered the Xia Long Bao and Sautéed String Beans. She liked them and wouldn't mind ordering them again. Food prices are the going rate at the food court. Food court wasn't busy so we were able to sit and enjoy our food.

New spot in the food court. Was drawn to the sign. Food was so/so. The bao was okay - just all the soup came out as you can tell. The string beans were not good. They seemed not fresh and the seasoning was off. All that plus a bottle of water as about $17

Spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup (to go order)

Inside the Westfield Fashion Square mall food court is the newly opened Mimi Garden Express! We ordered the following: A1: Kurobuta Pork Soup Xiao Long Bao C5: Spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup C6: Honey BBQ Pork Noodles D3: Sautéed string beans with garlic Everything was made fresh and delicious. Dumplings are also handmade! Our kids loved the dumplings (xiao long baos). We loved the spicy braised beef noodle soup and the sautéed string beans with garlic. Even though the beef noodle soup was marked spicy, only the string beans had a slight kick. The beef in the soup was hard to chew too and felt like it was overcooked. To order, the cashier will take your order, you pay and they hand you a buzzer. Once it vibrates and rings, you approach the cashier again and they will hand your order to you. Because we ordered to go, the food was nicely packaged in a reusable bag. We will be back!

Not impressed with the chicken dumplings

They just opened a couple months ago. Was really hoping the chicken dumplings would be good. Unfortunately I have to say that if they don't make them better I have a feeling they won't last in this mall. Very plain and almost had like a coffee taste. Not sure why? My 12 year old son wouldn't eat them. I ordered the b3 bbq beef with white rice. It was just ok.

The food was fantastic. I would order everything again, and I will be coming back here again. Delicious food, great atmosphere. Very relaxing and pretty quiet. No loud music blasting away, easy to converse with your significant other, or friends. Highly recommended. Great flavors, great atmosphere, great food, great people.

I even drove a bit out of my way to come here, only to find a "closed" sign on the door. From what I could see through the window, the restaurant looked very clean and well-kept. I'll definitely want to try again another time but will certainly call first!!!!

Upon entry there is a takeout area where you can order hot meat dishes and to go menu or dine in. We got complimentary hot tea when seated. The interior is a bit dated compared with other restaurants of this type but the food was delicious. We got duck and preserved egg porridge, scrambled egg with shrimp, and a two bbq combo plate of char siu and roast pork. The porridge came out fast and delicious! We ate with the chili and white paper available at the table. Next came the scrambled egg and shrimp. We actually ordered the version with rice, not the entree so the servers got us some rice but missing the gravy. Lastly came the bbq combo plate. We thought it would arrive first since the meats were all ready to go in the takeout area. It came with some hoisin sauce. The char siu was tasty. The roast pork however was not as crispy and kinda mealy so the sauce helped.

Sam Woo is the only authentic Cantonese spot in the valley my family has found so far…read more Even though they're known for their bbq meats, I would stay away from them as the ones we tried this time and in the past were pretty meh. Stick with ordering dishes off their menu instead. It's next to a Ranch, so there's plenty of parking available. We came by for lunch on Saturday around noon, and it was mostly filled up. It's not a big restaurant, and tables are placed pretty close to each other. That's how you know the place is going to be authentic lol They have a takeout area where you can get various bbq meats and some hot deli foods, but they also have a large menu you can order from. The four of us ordered the following dishes to try: #2 two item BBQ with roast pork and roast duck ($19.95 + $2 for roast pork) #78 chicken and veggie chow mein ($15.95) #85 beef chow fun ($16.95) #129 sauteed fish fillet ($18.95) #138 fresh squid in oyster sauce ($17.95) My favorite dish by far was the beef chow fun, which came as a huge platter and had really good wok hei flavor. The other noodle dish, the chow mein, was also good with huge portions. The fish and squid were both okay, but portions were small for the price, and to be honest, they were pretty similar down to the veggies used. We probably could've just ordered one. The most underwhelming was the bbq. The duck tasted okay but the cut they gave us was mostly bone and didn't have much meat. The roast pork was way too juicy and the skin, which is usually my favorite part due to the crisp, was tough and hard to chew.

The menu was on laminated paper which must be a few years old and felt disgusting to touch. I started with hot tea and it was served in a metal cup. I wish they served it in a nice ceramic container for customer's enjoyment. For lunch, we ordered chicken chow mein and their pork and crab dumpling (like a xiao long bao). The chicken chow mein had a boatload of cabbage and probably 10 strips of chow mein noodles. It should have been called cabbage noodles (lol). The pork and crab dumplings would have been a hit, but the dumpling shell had a "soapy" smell. The meat inside was soft and tasted good, but I couldn't get over the smell of the shell. We would have also wanted to try seaweed salad, but it was unavailable on this day. Overall, you can find better Chinese food close by this area. There's Maru Ramen on Reseda and Nordhoff, or Silverlake Ramen on Rinaldi. The parking here is plenty. The staff is also courteous. But given the state of the food and overall feel, I give it only two stars.

Best of all, they offer beer, sake, soju, and soft drinks with great music to create a fun vibe. The gyoza is offered both grilled and fried; we ordered the fried, and it was very crispy and filling. The crispy rice tuna was very fresh, crispy, spicy, and flavorful. We enjoyed it and it was perhaps the best item we had all together. We ordered their veg and blaze ramen. The veg had lettuce, broccolini, avocado, corn, mushrooms, and tofu. It was incredibly filling, but unfortunately, it was very salty and difficult to finish. The Blaze ramen was much more flavorful, and we were able to enjoy it much more. Although it appears as if the storefront is on Van Nuys, it is in the back with plenty of parking.
