Some people may ask what is the appeal of a chain Ramen restaurant. Especially for someone like me who LOVES hole in the wall or Mom and Pop shops. I go to Silverlake because I know what to expect every time. When I am watching my carbs I can swap out rice for greens on some of the bowls. When I go for it I start with the chicken kaarage or their pork belly bun. For Ramen I ALWAYS go spicy because it is always necessary.

I usually go to Silverlake Ramen to eat Ramen, this time I decided to try one of their bowls. It did not disappoint. I really enjoyed my chicken bowl. It was on a spicy side, but it was not too bad that I cannot finish it. For dessert, I got Churros with ice cream. It was so good. At first, I didn't think, it would taste this good, but to my surprise it turned out so yummy. A young gentleman helped me with my ordering. I placed the order to go. He was very nice and friendly. He gave me an estimate of 10 to 15 minutes. It was ready timely and didn't have to wait for a long time. This location was very clean and well maintained. They have a small area for pick up orders which customers can sit and wait for the orders. They have plenty of seating area. This location is located in a plaza. There were parking spaces available. I would say depending on the time of visit, it might hard to find a parking spot

Firstly, I've been frequenting this SLR location in Van Nuys for the past year. The service is always courteous for dining & pick-up is speedy & timely. Very relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a quick casual bite for a date, some friends, or family. Booth seating is apparent on either end of the restaurant as well as bar stool seating as you may prefer. The food? Geez, I keep coming back for their Chicken Karaage Curry Bowl. There's something addicting and simply satisfactory about the umami in their curry. Their ramen bowls are also great, however this review will bring light to their underrepresented bowls. Bao appetizers are solid as well. Will continue to return SLR Van Nuys. Parking: Plenty of parking spots available - free

My wife and I came here for dinner tonight since she wanted ramen only from Silverlake Ramen. I found parking right in the front since we came at night time and they were not busy. We got seated quick because they only had one other guest inside. The restaurant is a decent size for indoor dining and set up pretty nice, it was just humid inside there tonigjt. My wife got her blaze ramen and added mushroom. I got the Shoyu on Fire ramen and asked that the corn be on the side so my wife can add it to her ramen. Our dish were delicious and came out quick. The customer service here was great tonight and now I ate at all the Sliverlake Ramen locations in the Valley.

This was my first time coming here, and I had a great experience! Lola was incredibly sweet, attentive, and helpful from the moment we arrived. I asked for a glass of water, and she brought it to us right away. My soup ended up being a little too spicy for me, so I asked if there was a way to order it with less spice next time. She kindly explained how to customize my order, which I really appreciated. Thank you for having someone like Lola on your team her excellent customer service made our visit even better. I'll definitely be coming back

Blaze Tonkotsu Chicken Ramen - 3/10: I had high hopes for this one, but it just didn't deliver. The broth was richer but pretty tasteless and bland. Noodles were fine, scallions helped a lot, and my girlfriend liked the spinach, but overall it just didn't come together. They also forgot the corn, which was disappointing. The grilled chicken threw me off the most- it had a super strong white pepper taste that felt completely out of place in the dish. Personally I'd give it a 3/10, and my girlfriend said it was more like a 2/10. Spicy Chicken Karaage Bun - 3/10: This one started off promising because the chicken was fried nicely, but the meat inside ended up being kind of chewy, which wasn't great. The sauce was way too salty and overwhelmed everything else. My girlfriend especially didn't enjoy this one - her words were basically "very not good." Safe to say, neither of us would order it again. The saving grace was the service and the space itself. The staff were really nice and attentive, food came out very fast, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the food just didn't match the quality of the service, we wouldn't come back here.

I have to give this place a shoutout. I'm one picky eater, but they came through. They set me up with their Chicken Karaage bowl - nothing crazy for me though - just chicken and rice. Old school. Alexa took my order. She was very kind, inviting, and ensured that my order was exactly as I wanted. I normally don't give employees a shoutout on these reviews but Alexa deserves all the praise. Patient and despite the madness of the rush, she never skipped an opportunity to check on me. Diner dash in real life. I loved the vibe of the place. I will definitely be returning with a little more courage to try out their sake

I used to love this location until tonight. I arrived at 9:00 PM and the guy in the picture rolled his eyes when I walked in. I asked if they were closing and he said they close at 10:00 PM. I told him that was fine and that I would order within 5 minutes. By 9:20 PM I was still eating when the girl in the picture came to the table with the POS machine and asked me to pay the check. I told her I hadn't asked for the check. She laughed and said, "Well, your friend wants to pay." I replied that my friend didn't ask for the check and that I was still eating. She kept smiling and stood there waiting until we paid. I ended up leaving without finishing my food because it was so uncomfortable. There were four tables in the restaurant and they were clearly rushing everyone to leave. While I was eating, the girl kept removing items from my table. At one point she even spilled water on the man sitting at the table next to mine because she was rushing to clean his table. The whole experience was extremely awkward and unprofessional. If you say you close at 10:00 PM, you shouldn't start pushing customers out at 9:20 PM. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back.

While waiting for my take out, I watched Miguel practically run the entire restaurant by himself. He ran takeout and had about 6 tables and you never saw him sweat. Such a great worker, he deserves a raise :)

$13 for a small bowl of ramen and broth. Will never go back here again. Buyer beware! Awful rip off

$13 for a small bowl of ramen and just noodles. Complete rip off, will never come here ever again.

Our server was very sweet and attentive. There's so much more to try from the menu. We look forward to coming back (very soon)! Especially one open very late most nights! So many times after a long late work day I had no options for food, having a gluten allergy and being vegan, so now this is where I can go and expect a nearly perfect ramen every time. The no. 10 ramen (that has no broth) is my favorite. The ramen with broth is on the thicker side, and every type is good. They kinda all taste very similar to be honest. But even for people that eat meat, all the flavor is still present in the broth and ingredients. The atmosphere is also very nice and dark, with a decent amount of seats and nice background music playing, no annoying top 40 stuff. Always some nice electronic music that isn't too energetic or too sleepy. Sometimes there can be loud people but that really can't be helped in todays culture unfortunately, especially LA. I do wish they had more caffeine free drink options. Maybe some liquid death sodas, la crouix, or lemonade options would go well with the ramen or rolls! **The only other thing to keep in mind is that they tend to stop serving within a half hour of closing and sometimes they close early, might be best to order ahead or call if you intend on coming by around closing time, I was very disappointed two times because of this. ** Also, there is a shared lot and usually open spots on the street too. I recommend parking on the street as the parking lot can be a bit chaotic.

I came in with a friend, and we really had a great time. The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and every member of the staff we interacted with was warm, friendly, and attentive without ever being overbearing. The true standout of the evening was the manager, Matthew. He has an incredibly welcoming personality, a killer smile, and a level of attention to customer service that really sets the tone for the entire restaurant. He made a point of checking in with us and other guests throughout the night and made sure everyone felt taken care of. Great management shows in the way an entire team operates, and that was definitely the case here. The service was seamless. Plates were cleared promptly, drinks were refilled before we even had to ask, our grill was changed at just the right time, and someone was always nearby to help get what we need. As for the food, we loved the grilled asparagus, the mushrooms in foil, garlic and spicy shrimp, chicken teriyaki, and spicy tofu which were all excellent. It's been a long time since I've been to Gyu-Kaku, and this visit reminded me how much fun the experience can be. The Sherman Oaks location absolutely won us over, and Matthew and his team deserve a large portion of the credit. 10/10 -- fantastic food, exceptional service, and genuinely wonderful hospitality. They "close" at 10:30 (the place was still hopping at 10) and we arrived at a little past 9:00, figuring at that hour we wouldn't need a reservation. Think again, the place was just one click shy of a madhouse. The bar was lively and the tables were occupied mostly by 20-30 somethings in crocks and belly shirts, jabbing food in the mini fire pits and shoveling it in their mouths with the authority of hungry guard dogs. We had to wait 10 minutes or so, for a table and another 7 or so for our server to appear. It gave us a chance to peruse the menus. Yes, menus, plural. There are three laminated ones and a book with pages. Given how extensive the food menus are, the drink menu was a little unimpressive. The sake list had a few things listed, not including a Nigori. The white wine had two, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. We like Sauvignon Blancs but ordered the Pinot Grigio. Mezza Corona. That's what casinos comp pour at the slots in Vegas. It was fine, but not optimum. Overwhelmed by the menus and not particularly craving one thing, we decided to order the "Anniversary" dinner for two. It was a set combination of mostly proteins with the house salad and miso soup. The "poke" wasn't the usual gooey stuff seen in most raw places. It was perfect little cubes of ahi and marinated onions over a bed of pickled seaweed. The salad was large and simple, with a sesame dressing. Then... omg the proteins started to appear. Every single one was delicious. We found that putting the pork belly on the grill helped to keep the following proteins from sticking. The rice was beautifully steamed. The miso soup was even the best I've had in a long time, with lots of tofu and seaweed sinking to the bottom. I can see how this would be a great place for a group, and I can't wait to go with more friends; albeit my husband and I really enjoyed the respite. Our server, Cole, was cool and real. He didn't seem to need to pretend to be nice. He was just a sincere, caring young man. Their happy hour times are worth noting. They're happy throughout the day and night with the exception of 6:30 - 8:30 pm. There is a happy hour combination menu you might want to consider, especially if you've never been here and just want to see what's going on. There are AYCE choices which might come in handy if you're really into some favorites. There's also a big thing about Wagyu. Eh. Different strokes I guess. We'll definitely be back. We really enjoyed the experience. We reduced one star for the silly valet parking and the not-so-great wine list.
