I've only had one item at this truck, and it's the bacon burrito loaded with pulled pork, fries, etc. For the price and the overall flavor, it was an OK experience for me. One thing for sure: no wait in line was a definite factor in my having made the decision to patronize! The way the burrito was made: already prepared beforehand. I asked for it to be reheated on the grill plate, and when biting into the burrito, found that the ratio of how they prepared it and rolled it lacked. Too much pulled pork (only) in one bite, too much bacon in another... wasn't well rolled with equal proportions of filling througout. My friend's burrito from the Mx truck looked a whole lot more satisfying for me. Owner of this truck truly is friends with the Lardo guy up in Stumptown. This truck came to my work to cater for an event. They provided sliders, tacos and a grilled cheese. Across the board, the food was mediocre. The bacon was not very prominent in any of their dishes in terms of taste, no matter what the ingredient list say ... and the slider was kind of awful. Just dry and way too much bread. The soft roll was stuffed with bacon-flecked meatballs and topped with pickled veggies and jalapenos. The taste was pretty good. Honestly...after seeing Anthony Bourdain shoot a pig in the head...I had problems eating pork for a while. I went on a 6 week pork hiatus. Then came the Bacon Bacon truck. My friend Nanette W. posted a picture of her Pork Belly Sandwich on FB and I almost fell on the floor. Luckily a friend from out of town wanted to try OTG and the Bacon Bacon truck happened to be there (Haight) this time! Now let me tell you...this is a extremely greasy messy sandwich, and I really hate getting my hands messy. The massive amounts of pork belly comes served on some deliciously soft sweet bun that gets soggy super fast. The chipotle aoli is another hot greasy mess that compliments the pork belly extremely well. I'm usually not a fan of arugala but the bitterness balanced with the flavors of the sandwich well. The sandwich also comes with an egg that's supposed to be sunny side up, but I asked for mine to be cooked all the way to avoid more mess. Would I eat this again? YES. Broccoli rabe, cheese, bacon, siracha aioli on a roll, heaven! I am also a HUGE fan of their Bacon Root Beer Float. BACON! Can you believe that there's a food truck that specializes in bacon? Chocolate covered bacon, bacon fried chicken, bacon caramel popcorn, ... I stumbled upon this food truck at the SOMA StrEat Food Park and had the incredible pleasure of having The Belly, fries, their chocolate covered bacon, and the bacon caramel popcorn. The Belly was excellent. As I was eating it, I felt like I should be a food critic, because phrases I've never used before we're being used to describe that sandwich. For example, sensual explosion in your mouth. Mmmmmmm, it was that good. Of course, the sandwich fell apart as I was holding it and eating it, especially the folk of the fried egg; but that was definitely nothing to complain about because I just let it fall all over my fries which made that part of the meal THAT much better. While out in San Francisco on a work trip last week, some coworkers and I decided to take our lunch break out amid the food trucks near our office. When we discovered Bacon Bacon, I knew I had to bypass all the other mobile kitchens and head straight to the pork. With my bum knee from Bay To Breakers, and the crazy long line, it wasn't worth going back and wasting my whole lunch to fix the situation. You never want to say anything bad about bacon. I don't either, but I do want to give an honest review of the experience I had with Bacon Bacon today in hopes that it will help them improve. I'm giving them a 3 because of .. well it's bacon. They probably should have gotten a 2 in this instance, but they get a bump for being bacon related. I showed up at the TruckStop around 1:08pm on my lunch break. I ordered and was promptly passed up by everyone that was waiting and about 10 other people that ordered after me. Not over exaggerating. Yes it happens, but WHY MEEE!!!??? aRGGGHHH. It feels like it's always me. This is why I don't skydive, bungee jump or do anything overtly risky. It will be me. I'm the one that will plummet to his doom or get AIDS the ONE TIME I get an underage hooker in Thailand. But I digress, so that's why I don't do those things. So I had to ask them to check on my order which the nice lady and the guy out front did with no issues. Everyone was polite and cordial. My order came out a few minutes later and I headed back to my office. I sat down at my office and gazed upon what looked to be a magnificent pile of pork on top of some fries and a delicious sandwich. I ordered the Spicy Belly Fries and the Belly sandwich. Review of the Belly Sandwich: $9 (a bit steep just for a small sandwich) There are 2 or 3 slabs of pork belly in this, topped with an egg. That alone is amazing combination to think of and why I ordered it. But the problem here is that the pork belly is too soft and too fatty. The slab of fat that came with the meat portion of the belly was too large. My opinion here is to trim the fat and crisp that pork up a bit. I don't want to chew on gelatinous fatty pork. I took a few bites, then picked the thing apart to discard of the over-the-top fat parts of the belly. The bread I felt was also a bit too fluffy and not substantial as my fingers sort of ripped it apart in the process of biting it. The egg was eggcellent. Review of the spicy Belly Fries: $6? The pork on top of these is heavenly. Somewhat like spicy pork carnitas. Amazing and yummy, no doubt about it. But the problem occurs with this part of my meal when you eat a fry. The fries are retardly salty. And not just in the "we sprinkled salt on them" sort of way. It seems like these were soaked in salt water and THEN fried. Or something bizarre is happening to make them really salty. The pile of ketchup I dipped them in somewhat tamed the salt, but I had to tough them down and get my money's worth for my meal. So in conclusion I'm a bit bummed that the bacon bacon truck isn't giving me bang for my buck and is oversalting the fries. A half dozen flat, crispy bacon strips presented in a paper cone like a floral arrangement. It's fun to walk around with and watch people's jealousy, but the novelty is really a one-time only affair. The Triple B Taco: Gotta love butt, belly and bacon! It was like a carnitas taco with bacon on top; I couldn't really tell the butt and the belly apart since they both seemed soft. I ordered The Belly. It is a pork belly sandwich with a fried egg, topped with fresh arugula. Every bite of it was delicious and tender. It was a bit of a chore to keep the sandwich together because the yolk kept oozing out, and making the pork belly slices slip out. However, the yolk made a great dip for the sandwich. That was one of my top favorite pork belly sandwiches. The only reason why I can't give Bacon Bacon a high review is because 2 out of the 3 people in my party that ordered this food got sick afterward. Also, their health score wasn't that high. These guys have a phenomenal 'bacon fried chicken' sandwich on the menu. The bacon master is a great Facebook/twitter promoter, and I can tell you that his updates and food pics have lured me on several occasions to their various locations. So if the bacon master reads these Yelp reviews- please accept that bit of positive feedback- your social media self-promotions works on at least me, and probably many others! So I caught up with Bacon Bacon for this sandwich at a spot near ATT park last week- and it was awesome. Crispy, great slaw topping- honestly one of the top 2-3 fried chicken sandwiches I've had in the area. Just a slight notch below Bakesale Betty's in my opinion. My only gripe is that your menu isn't as consistent as I'd hope for. I've struck out trying to get that sandwich on two other occasions, and the fried green tomato sandwich I had (and loved) twice wasn't there either when I stopped by today at the StrEat Food park. What an absolutely glorious and delicious food truck! We caught them at the SoMa food truck park (look them up on yelp too!) My hubby ordered the pulled pork burrito- made with all kinds of awesome stuff, pulled pork, pork belly, bacon, and French fries, and BOMB Cole slaw. I stole a few bites- it was pretty darn good! Different from typical cali burritos but awesome non the less. I ordered the bacon fried chicken sandwich.... Yes that's a thing, an awesome thing!! Awesome bacon, a GIANT portion of panko (I believe) encrusted chicken breast, spicy slaw and bacon mayo (which is the best part lol) seriously, it's amazing. And for $9 - totally worth it. My bf kept asking for bites of mine! :) didn't try the fries but will next time. On the way out we ordered two orders of chocolate covered bacon. Decently size piece of bacon, could have been bigger or saltier to compliment the chocolate - but still pretty good! I've been to their little restaurant before on Haight St where I've had their BBQ Pork Sandwich&Porky Fries which were absolutely delicious,juicy&tender, but I've never eaten from their food trucks until recently when I went to Off the Grid: Fort Mason. I was craving their Porky Fries,so I was really excited to eat their fries again. Line moved fairly quickly,& the order came out really fast. It came out hot w/thin cut fries, loads of pork&some shredded cheese on top. But sadly, my high little porky hopes were shattered. The pork was wayyy to dry&lacked flavor. Also,since they didn't put much cheese on top, it barely added any flavor. Thanks to Sriracha hot sauce, I was able to finish it. Overall, pretty disappointed. This review is for the truck in Serramonte in Off the Grid. Friendly service, quick to order. Didn't have much of a line, so that in itself was appealing, but also could be a red flag? Either way, I was happy to give them my business. With a name like Bacon Bacon, you gotta try to the Bacon. And that's what I did! Had the Double Bacon Burger and side of Bacon. Double Bacon Burger - The patties themselves were nothing to go "goo-goo-ga-ga" over. The plenty of bacon piled into this burger, and the bacon in this burger was pretty lean, and crisped well. Not a lot of the fatty fatty parts, so plus for that. Unfortunately, one of my pet peeves is when the patty doesn't match the size of the bun. That happened here, but at least there were two patties. Side of Bacon - for $7, you get your quantity worth! Felt like I was eating a myocardial infarction! My coronaries were filling as I was eating. Expected a higher quality of crispy goodness, but it just wasn't there. Fried excellently though, no burning happening here. Not super impressed, but would try their brick-and-mortar store. They got that extra star from me for the Bhan Mi. 2 huge meatballs, perfectly cooked bacon strips, a yummy sauce and some pickled vegetables, it was almost perfect. My only suggestion is there was not enough pickled vegetables, only had a few strands, couldn't even taste it. As for he grilled cheese, not a huge fan. It was kinda burnt on the outside, lots of bacon and cheese but nothing amazing. Oh and the rootbeer float was a bummer! for $5 I expect a larger cup and way more ice cream.
