We were looking for lunch and happened upon this food truck yard. While walking around, this place instantly caught my eye. It was a one man crew but the guy running the truck was able to pump out the food in a timely manner while having a friendly conversation with a couple sitting nearby. I was kind of eavesdropping and all I could hear was how complimentary the couple was with how great the food was. Once I got my food and popped open the container, I was mesmerized from how much food there was and how good it looked. After bitting into my spicy glazed chicken and garlic noodles, I instantly told the rest of the people in my party that was the best meal I've had in SF. I'm not into spicy food but this chicken had enough spice in it that it wasn't over powering. The garlic noodles themselves were also the best I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and hit up this truck if you are in the area.
The portion size was pretty generous but the food was way too sweet- chicken, macaroni salad, and cabbage salad.
A newcomer food truck, focusing on fried things of various forms. I stayed focused on the chicken, trying it two ways. The wings were so awesome, next time I might make it my entire meal! Phunk King Wings: By far the star at these trucks. Rivals some of the better Korean Fried Chicken I've had around town. It's got such crispy skin, perhaps twice-fried so the fat melts away. And the soy garlic based sauce is delicious, managing to add a lot of flavor without making it soggy. Chicken Sandwich: Chicken thigh deep fried and tossed in sauce. Not quite as crispy as the wings. It was nice against the fluffy bun. But I feel like maybe chicken breast would have given it a firmer texture whereas the chicken thigh kind of had a slimy inside mouthfeel.
We were at SPARK social and my friend tried this first and it looked amazing, so I ordered the fried chicken and fries. I will say they really loaded up the plate with food, but I found the chicken to be super chewy and hard to eat, so I can't give 4 or 5 stars unfortunately. The fries were great though!
The food truck in Spark social is next level! I had the fried chicken wings with fries. Is $19 but is a big portion! I think there's around 6-7 wings. The gate is really good, sweet glaze on top. The owner is also super nice! Will be back
Attended an event at Sparks social SF. This was one of the food trucks parked inside. Ordered the chicken sandwich. Was ready within minutes. It was excellent! The panko crusted chicken was crunchy and juicy, the coleslaw was a perfect pairing, and the purple taro bun although huge was surprisingly not dry. Yum!
3.5 stars! More than okay but not quite at 4 star great just yet for me. Got the shrimp sandwich and added fries for $4! So the service was fine - no frills, order at the kiosk and go up when your name gets called. Sandwich itself was good - they have this sriracha aoili type sauce that smother on top the sandwich. The shrimps were large and fried well, shrimp was a tad underdone to my liking but my partner liked it and said they were cooked fine. My only gripe was how much sauce they put in the sandwich. It blew out my taste buds and all I could taste was soggy shrimp and soggy bread doused in sauce. The fries were good but also, when I ordered side fries I was expecting plain fries - so the overly seasoned fries just added to my disappointment because i had overly sauced soggy sandwich and seasoned to the max fries - that I originally bought to share with my toddler -- but because they were so overly spiced I had to try to pick out and wipe some of the fries so my baby could have some. Honestly - would've been a 4.5 stars with the sandwich didn't get sauced up the yinyang especially since they provide a small tub of sauce on the side - and if the fries had self seasoning option on the counter... instead of being heavily spiced as is... of course spark social gives great vibes so the food was enjoyable nonetheless. I ended up only picking out the shrimp and not eating the rest of the sandwich because it was just too saucy.
Ordered pick up to go during work lunch, everything is delicious! I got the chicken over fries and the ahi katsu over rice small plate. Fried chicken was saucy but still hot and crispy, fries were seasoned well and crispy. The ahi katsu was crispy on the outside and not dry inside. I would def go back to try the larger rice plates and burgers next time. Also, owner is super nice!
WH42 is a food truck at Spark Social SF, which is a convenient location near offices. What attracted me to try this food truck for lunch over the other options in Spark Social SF is the aesthetic housemade purple Hawaiian taro buns I visited during my lunch break and ordered on the kiosk. I ordered a pork sandwich ($12). The sandwich was aesthetic, flavorful, and very filling. Every time I've visited WH42 for lunch, I've been impressed and satisfied
I had the chicken sandwich while the truck was at Spark social. Panko crusted, tonkatsu style, on a purple bun. The pickles and slaw that come on it really made it. Very crunchy and fried fresh. Great curly fries too. They should have side photos up showing the food! The truck also confusingly says "cash only" while having a credit card machine tasks your order. Probably a vibe they are going for but adds confusion.
I tried this place at Spark Social, which I believe is not the usual location. The chicken strips are about $11 and such a good deal. You get three good sized strips, bread, pickles, and a choice of sauce. The Magic Sauce was pleasant at first, but not flavorful enough. It is also unnecessarily aggressively purple, so definitely watch out if you're nervous about staining your clothes/fingers. The strips weren't as flavorful on their own, but tasted delicious in a sandwich. I might try this place again, but would recommend ordering a sandwich and a stronger sauce. The truck says Cash Only, but unsure if this is true.
It was very easy to order and did not take long at all for the food to be ready. I got the shrimp fries and they were delicious. Looked exactly like the picture! For those who don't like salty or can't have much, be ware the seasoning on the fries is packed with it... not too much just salty. Enjoyed, will definitely be back to try other things they offer!
My mom, a fellow Yelp Elite, would tell me to knock off a star because WH42 upset my stomach. However, I know my stomach and I know that it's sensitive, so it gets upset pretty often. Service was wonderful and warm and friendly when I picked up my order. You order at a kiosk, and then get a text message when it's ready. I was very very happy with my garlic noodles ($11 for just noodles) with chicken ($18 total.) The portion was huge so I shared some with my partner and my friend and her partner! The noodles were delicious and very garlicky, and the portion of chicken was huge! It's fried, lightly-sauced chicken and was succulent and juicy, no bones. It's a good deal when you. think about the size! I love garlic noodles and this was good value given the portion of chicken. The box was full of chicken! I will keep raving about WH42! Will likely go here when I go to Spark Social. It can get busy before Warriors, Valkyries, and Giants games, and also from the UCSF employees nearby. Good ambiance. read more

This is my 2nd time ordering from WH42. I ordered the Chicken Plate this time. Like in my first review, the flavors were topnotch. It's well-balanced, not too salty, and still flavorful. The chicken was juicy and crispy. The glaze was kind of sweet, fruity, and had a bit of soy sauce flavor in there. The rice texture is MUCHHHH better than last time. It's more aldente now. Cooked through, but not mushy. No changes on the coleslaw and the mac salad. Still pretty good. The service was pretty fast too! I got my food in likeee less than 7 minutes. read more

The pork sandwich is a 10/10. Homemade taro bun- the absolute best. Not only is it delicious, but it's a proper size and very filling. The best thing we had as we were hopping around trying things at the Spark Social Food truck park and the service was wonderful. Definitely coming back. read more

The BEST Chicken sandwich in San Francisco. I like the grilled chicken with bacon and cheese. The bread is soft, and the coleslaw is fresh and crispy. (Add pickled onion) Customer service is on point. Staff is friendly, and they get food out in a timely manner. Parking can be a hassle, but I usually park in Costco with NO problems. You can find WH42 at 428 11 St. Right across the street from Costco in San Francisco. Monarch Gardens has a liqour truck, a barber shop, and jumpers for the kids. Overall, I give this place a 10/10. By the way, they are now on Grub Hub, and Door Dash is coming soon. Enjoy! read more

These chicken strips were so good! Perfectly crispy and juicy. I loved the redish sauce (can't remember the name) the most! The ranch had a little too much dill for me (but I'm adverse to dill so that's a personal preference). I loved the homemade pickles were so good and fresh too. The owner was lovely as well!Definitely recommend checking out this truck. read more

Delicious on all counts. The unique bread was very fresh, the dressings (coleslaw and other very tasty and well-seasoned sauces). I got the eggplant version and would come back to this part of town just for this sandwich. Several layers of panko fried eggplant. So good. Large sandwich. Service was friendly and down-to-earth. Highly recommend. read more

Best chicken sandwich I've ever had!! The taro bun is so good, unique in many aspects! The chef "42" was super personable and had great character. Not only going back for the food, but for the great hospitality!! read more
Let's start by saying that this is a very generous portion size for $10. It came with 3 chicken strips, 1 bun, pickles, and a sauce of choice (we got the magic purple sauce). The chicken strips were super juicy and had a great crunch to them. However, they tasted good with the bun but not standalone. I'd also recommend getting two sauces since it got pretty dry towards the end of the 3rd strip. The magic purple sauce was good but I wish there was more cilantro flavoring coming through. All in all the owner was super sweet and I would order again! read more
