After a long day- we weren't feeling up for anything fancy. We decided just to hit Backyard Taco - and it was 100 percent the right choice. Super laid back atmosphere in there with awesome food and drinks. The owners chatted with us, made some awesome recommendations on tacos, and whipped up some delicious spicy margs. The owner was a fan of the office - so we talked Michael Scott and so on. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

We visited Martha's Vineyard over Labor Day weekend and stayed at a friend's place in Edgartown. We stumbled upon this place our first night and it became our go to place. When we travel, we usually never go to the same place more than once out of a desire to try different things. Backyard Taco became our exception. The menu is simple but the product is delicious. My husband would have the fish tacos, which he said were the best he's ever had. As a vegetarian, I opted for the eggplant tacos, which were amazing. The home made chips and guacamole are also excellent but the tacos are the highlight. The place gets packed so there could be a wait. Backyard Taco is so fun! Small space, but they make the most out of it. Easy food and very cheap given MV prices. The margaritas are delicious -- I recommend the spicy one, but they also have skinny. They are open late, which is nice in a town that closes at 12:30am, so you can still go hang out for a little and get your late night bite. Also their breakfast is delicious and very easy. The chilaquiles could use more cheese and should be done with pulled chicken or something to give it more texture, but the breakfast tacos really hit the spot -- especially after a late night at the Atlantic with too many drinks! Really good breakfast! Chiliquiles are awesome! Made from fresh pressed tortilla. Really made me miss Mazatlán. They'll make'em rojo (red) if you ask, but the verde (green) are really tasty too! This is my favorite place to get tacos on the vineyard. Although it can get busy there, the delicious falafel taco topped with taziki is worth the wait. I also really enjoy the chicken taco which is tipped with homemade salsa and corn. I definitely recommend this place of you are looking for tacos. It is very good and not too expensive. read more

The hidden gem of MV and one of the best meals you'll have on the island! Tacos and poke bowls are amazing and the atmosphere is super cool, two high tops out front and a hidden backyard with a couple picnic tables, very chill and California cool. The menu is simple: tacos and chips, limited bar selection. While the food is good, the portions are small. Plan on ordering the chips and at least 3 tacos each for 2 people. The service is extremely slow. They make the tacos one at a time so the wait can be extensive even though it's not that busy. We were a party of 5, had a wait of over a half hour for our tacos and, with 2 margaritas each, had a check of close to $200. Went home and had sandwiches since we left hungry. read more

This place is awesome!! The margaritas are amazing, they use fresh juice from juice bar next door. You can even add pressed jalapeño to your Marg. It's tiny but there's a courtyard with a few tables out back. We had beef tacos and both spicy and regular were delish!! The service is also great and so is the music. I will definitely be back. This is my favorite place in Martha's Vineyard. Right in the heart of Edgartown is this cute little place with a parking place right next to it. When you walk inside you are greeted by the huge wall of dollar bills signed by past costumers. The menu consist of around 10 types of tacos all around 4.50 a piece. I have tried almost all of them and absolutely LOVE each and every one. Though my favorite would have to be the chicken taco. It is so so delicious I could eat 10 and still want more. I dream about this chicken taco everyday. If you have ever thought you have had a good taco, you have not lived until you try this. The atmosphere of this place is so cute and always a pleasure to be there. There is a bar where the 3 brothers who run the place will sit and talk to you telling you all of there great stories. Then out back is a very small yet adorable courtyard will tables, chairs, and a surprising amount of antique mirrors. Overall I would 100% recommend this place if you are ever in the vicinity of Edgartown. read more
