We found this spot on the way to vacation and we're so glad we stopped. It has an outside area and a big space inside for seating. You enter and go to the counter to place your order. The menu is extensive with a ton of meat options as well as delicious sides. My husband got the chicken breast plate which comes with two sides and is plenty of food. The sauce is on top and not a thick sauce but super flavorful. I had several sides which were amazing! I went back for more green beans and baked beans as those were my favorites. The portions are large and prices are very reasonable. It is a very welcoming and chill spot with an amazing smell from the smoking meats. Definitely worth a detour to try this spot! We will stop here again if even close, and might just plan a trip down to get some of their BBQ! read more

Running the backroads thru KY and saw the sign for the backyard bbq. It was a hit. Lots of locals. Delicious food. Never heard of swamp cabbage but totally need to try and find a recipe now. We tried the pulled pork sandwich and the three meats! All are great! Give them a try! read more

We visited this place on the way to a vacation spot. We enjoyed it so much we stopped on the way back. Swamp cabbage is a unique side dish with carrots and beef. When I ordered chicken breast sandwiches I forgot to ask for bbq sauce. It was still tasty without it. They also had some twisty fries that were like extra large curly fries. They were great. I went back for some more food dur our second visit. I was a little impatient while waiting on the order. I now apologize to the staff. They did a great job. read more

SHOULDER ( pork butt roast steaks) with Dip sauce ( vinegary peppery ) - it's the must try if nothing els, smothered with a great dip /sauce on the side regular, mild, and hot I went mild it's a a quarter inch thick slice of yummy. Coleslaw both creamy and vinegar just sweet and tangy perfection with what I had The potato salad great and how I enjoy it balanced perfectly sweet with a mustard tang. Sides were ridiculous!!! My potato salad might as well have been some 3 day old mashed potatoes....my fries STALE AS OLD BREAD!!! And what kind of person messes up a hamburger steak???? However... the young man who took my order needs a raise. Respectful and quick. But especially for having to look at those sides being sent out all day !! The food is delicious. The service is sweet. The restaurant is clean. We were passing through and found Backyard BBQ along the road. We are so happy we stopped to eat here! The pulled pork and pork shoulder sandwiches are huge I and delicious! Both sales are just right. The sweet tea is perfect and the fried pies are just what we hoped for. We told them we had our dog waiting outside and they wrapped up a little pork chop scrap for him. We will definitely go out of our way to come back again! May God Bless this business! read more
