Y'all, I'm calling it right now: this is the best barbecue in the entire United States. That smoked pork shoulder plate--tender, juicy meat, kissed with smoke for hours, edged with perfect bark, and paired with their peppery vinegar dip--had me closing my eyes with every bite like I was cheating on every other BBQ joint I've ever loved. The mayo slaw was creamy crack abd the baked beans tasted like they'd been simmering since last Thanksgiving. If you ever find yourself within 100 miles of Tompkinsville, you owe your soul a detour. Backyard BBQ isn't just a meal, it's a religious experience with a side of fries. 11/10, no notes, already planning the next pilgrimage.

My family had pork sandwiches and liked them. I had the pork shoulder and it was okay. A bit dry and not a bunch of flavor. Don't get me wrong this place was a solid 4-star. Our sides were cole slaw, baked beans, and mac n cheese, all delicious. FYI, the slaw is a sweet, creamy style, so if that's not your thing, choose another of their sides. The baked beans have some of their shredded BBQ in them, which I like (some folks don't). The BBQ was hot and juicy, and they have bottles of their sauces on your table, so you can go nuts if you like a lot of it. One last FYI, your bread choices are Texas toast and cornbread. But the cornbread is a johnnycake. Granted, I like johnnycakes, but some people are not fans. The meal was filling without being heavy. And I could have had a gallon of that sweet tea! Our waitress was sweet and friendly, and overall, we had an enjoyable lunch. We will be back! P.S. --- The bathroom was nice and clean as well as easy to find.

It smelled great and the food we seen delivered to other tables also looked great. We got a sample platter with ribs and brisket. The ribs were over cooked and chewy and the brisket was a lot of fat. Again, not thrilled with our meal here, but may give them another chance earlier in the day.
