Worst experience ever. Went here with my girlfriends for a bachelorette party. A friend of mine and I went to the bathroom and everything was fine. When we walked out of the bathroom we were bombarded by every security personnel in the place stating someone had told them we were sleeping in the bathroom when we had been in there for less then 3 minutes. We told them they were crazy and they laughed because we knew it wasn't true. They stated "this is your warning." Later in the day my friends and I were in the pool leaned over the table trying to talk to each other because the music was loud. I was called out by a security and told I had to leave because I "was on top of the table." I was never on top of the table just leaning. I had paid a lot of money to celebrate my friend in a life changing moment and it was ruined for no reason. Honestly wouldn't even be upset if I actually did something, but leaning on a table and being accused of things I never did was not a sufficient reason to be kicked out. I've never been kicked out of anywhere in my life. I was completely devastated and went back to our place in tears. My advice would be to do you damn research before ruining people's night. For some people this isn't just a "night" it's celebrating some of life's most special moments. read more

Came by boat after a long morning on the lake, lots of dock parking. Service was very good, they setup a table for our party of eight quickly. Sat out on the deck since we had the dog, and they even turned on the fans to keep everyone more comfortable. Food was good. We had nachos and a spicy chicken sandwich. They had potato salad made with diced oven roasted potatoes in a mayonnaise dill sauce, served slightly warm. 2nd place that had this, must be an Ozark thing. Very interesting and very good. A little hard to find, it sits all the way back in a cove. Very solid choice if you want to get off the water for a bit. read more

Used to enjoy going here occasionally, but after today it will take a lot to get me there again. We went for lunch with our granddaughters 7 & 11. It took 15 minutes & me asking to have a waitress come. We ordered immediately because the girls were hungry. 45 minutes later we got 2 burgers & had to wait 5 minutes more to get my salad. Girls liked their burgers salad was so so, hot wings not hot, heat or seasonings. We headed to pool for a few minutes because the youngest wanted to see it. Service was ok - she was newer (by her own admission) and friendly. However she didn't come back to check on us other than maybe one time. I'm not sure how many other tables she had, but the restaurant wasn't overly busy by any means. Food was also only ok. Our grouper sandwiches came on bread that wasn't toasted or appropriate for the type of sandwich. The red beans and rice were undercooked. The kids seemed to enjoy their meals, and I was happy to see so many options for them. Unfortunately, their meals cost around $5 and then milk was extra ($5.85 for three milks!). The veggie quesadilla was tasty as well. This was our first visit. I couldn't say we will return. The view was nice and the restaurant and restrooms were very clean. What a disappointment. This Used to be our favorite place at the lake that we visited every other weekend. We Have spent 15 years coming here and was so excited about the new pool. We waited forever to get a spot to park the boat and once we arrived we're told it was 21 one years and older to access the pool area and the pool. I Guess we will not be coming back to Backwaters with our family much. I heard rumors that they were gonna be something different than what Coconuts turned into where we don't go anymore, Guess not. Backwater jacks was a lot of fun. We took our teenagers to the pool, had a great lunch, the wings, the fish planks and fried potato salad were a hit, along with the Rumrunners. The service was very good, and it was a nice relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. read more

We loved this place! It's casual lakeside dining inside and outside dining. We opted inside dining. It was a rainy weekend so wasn't too busy yet inside or out but I would imagine it gets crazy summer time. We shared grouper bites. Pretty good. Fish tasted fresh and not watery. I had the Ribeye dinner. For the money, this was a nice sized steak and lots of flavor! We had 2 of these at the table and one came back red cold center so we sent that one back for a bit more cooking. No biggie. Overall, we were very impressed with our meal and the service here. My family of 5, including three young children, decided to give this place a chance at the advice of our hotel concierge. I asked for a recommendation for dining with lake views and a kid friendly atmosphere. He was right about lake views, but this isn't a place for kids. The wait staff wear shirts with the phrase "drink up bitches" and "I know Jack Shit" on them. I would relate this place to a biker bar on water. If you are comfortable with kids in biker bars, then my comments here are irrelevant. Don't get me wrong, the place looks like a fun party atmosphere. I'm no prude, I just think anywhere with a kids menu should reduce the vulgarity until after 8-9pm. We were there at 5pm for dinner. The food was also sub-par with the Mac and Cheese (kids) being watery and straight from a box and the steak sandwich was all fat/gristle. Service was also slow. We saw our waitress three times, once to take our order, once to bring out food, and once to ask how everything was (I found her to ask for my bill). I give two stars since my expectations were off base, misled by the concierge. After a day of drinking on a boat with buddies, this place would be great! This USED to be a got to spot when at the lake . The last couple years food has deteriorated and the bathrooms are filthy. The fried potato salad that I always loved was gross and the grouper was a tiny miniscule piece of fish. The entire restaurant was dirty and smelly. I will say the staff was polite, but the girl tending the bar seemed to only care about 2 people at the bar. We literally had to flag her down to place an order or to pay up. I normally don't post bad reviews but this was absolutely one of the worst experiences at this restaurant. For starters we waited about 20 minutes after being seated before anyone bothered to take our drink order. Then we put in an order for shrimp, and instead of bringing out cocktail sauce, she brought out salsa. And when we told our waitress, she laughed and blamed the kitchen. Then when our food came out, they forgot the chicken on my salad. When we asked her to bring it out, she brought out this slimy nasty looking turkey that looked like it had come from a can or was some sort of wet dog food substitute. It most definitely was not chicken. It didn't smell or taste anything like it. I was extremely disappointed because A) I'd been working all day and hadn't gotten a chance to eat and was starving and B) I've gotten that same salad before and never had any issues. On top of it all, our waitress was extremely rude. She just had an "I don't give a crap" attitude and laughed every time we told her something was wrong, as if it was no big deal and not her problem. Not only that but I saw her talking to another waitress and point directly at us, clearly gossiping. I love that she could stand there and talk, but couldn't be bothered to get anything right or check up on us more than 3 times. We had a great time at the newly remodeled Backwater Jacks. Richard was our server and he was on it! Fast with everything and his recommendation for the deluxe Cheeseburger was just what I was looking for. He also recommended the Bloody Mary's which were on sale. Nice. Overall, not a very good experience! The table next to us was very loud, and a guy with no shirt on was scratching his back with his knife....ew. Waitress did not pay very close attention, my cousins drink was empty for almost 30 minutes, and we finally had to get her attention and ask for a refill. My brother ordered a drink when she brought the food, and didnt recieve it until he had already finished his food. My cousins order was wrong, and she did not return with the correct order until everyone else was finished eating. Many of the adults had ordered baked potatoes as their sides, the waitress didn't inform them that they were out of baked potatoes until she brought their food, then she asked what sides they would like instead. My cousins drink went empty a second time while she was eating, and was never even refilled. We went inside and found our waitress, and asked for more refills again, and she did never brought them. and we could see her sitting at the bar. I would also like to mention that the restaurant was by no means full, and we did not see her serving another table. But to be fair, mine and both my cousins food was good. At the recommendation of another yelp review, all three of us ordered the buffalo chicken tenders. Another person got the grouper fingers, which were very good. All in all, decent food, good atmosphere..pretty inattentive service. Maybe its just a place for locals, and that's how they want it. read more
