Our waitress was awesome however the food not so much. We order the Jumbo jalapeño Poppers and they had to be sent back 2 times because they were cold. The third time, they were great. Our entree was nothing special. Just a sandwich I could easily make at home and it would probably be twice as good. They recently remodeled and the building looks a lot better. This was a smart decision with all of the new restaurants that opened this past year close by. We used to go here a lot and stopped because the food and service went down hill. We decided to try it out again this year and I've changed my perspective about this place. They revamped their look and the food is good like it used to be. I have been at least 3 times this summer and I wouldn't mind going back again soon. read more

Was really looking forward to eating here. We were seated and 20 mins a waitress and a waiter both passed by not only once but twice, never asked if we wanted water or ready to order! Great location. Our friends suggested we visit this place but we definitely weren't impressed. We have two 18 year olds in our family and they aren't allowed in the main pool after 2pm (ridiculous). The music is pretty loud, which we're fine with, but be aware if you have any people who are bothered by that. A few of us went upstairs and had some appetizers, and it was all pretty disappointing. I asked for water with lemon and just got water; then later asked for lemons and the waitress never got them for me. The kitchen was pretty busy, so it took 45 minutes to get our appetizers. The nachos left us pretty unimpressed. My aunt ordered a dessert and the waitress asked if she wanted it now or when everyone else's appetizers came out, and she said to wait. Well, that dessert arrived 15 minutes after our food. The waitress wasn't attentive at all, never really stopped by our table. I get it, they were overwhelmed with the Friday afternoon crowd, but they need to get more staff in there. Some people in our group really enjoyed the pool at least. read more

The atmosphere is excellent with a great view of the lake. We ordered 3 appetizers, the grouper fingers, the stuffed mushrooms and the crab Rangoon. The grouper fingers were very good but I believe they used frosted corn flakes which made it too sweet for my tastes, the raspberry tartar sauce was a nice unique touch. The crab Rangoon was delicious - no complaints. The stuffed mushrooms were good, nothing too noteworthy though. The food took a while to order and unfortunately the server was very slow refilling waters considering we were here on a Tuesday night where it wasn't that busy. The Cobb salad was huge - very good salad choice with a ton of ham on it. I ordered the seafood salad and I almost considered sending it back. The seafood was basically one of those frozen seafood bags you get for soups that was thawed out and thrown onto some veggies. The shrimp, scallops and (very minimal/non-existent) lump crabmeat were very watery and not fresh tasting leading me to believe it was previously frozen. Not impressed for the price. Probably cost about $4/5 to make at home if you want. Their grilled chicken was very flavorful - both blackened and regular. I highly recommend anything with grilled chicken. Their BLT sandwich is very big (double decker!) and my wife enjoyed it. Their fried potato salad was also very very good. I'm basically rating this 4 stars as I believe everything was about "average" except for the view. If you would rate this for the atmosphere and location, it would be 5 stars. Food and service only, 2-3 stars. Nice place on the lake though and the bar crowd I'm sure is spectacular on a weekend night. Try those crab Rangoon - seriously, you'll thank me. read more

Hard to find but the food and service were great! We had lots of crab legs, a burger, and fish. My kids loved the fried green beans and we tried some sort of potato side that was awesome. They have a decent beer selection and the bathrooms were clean. Our server was super sweet and the food came out fast. Definitely coming back! read more

No stars....previous meals with a small group has earned maybe around four stars. But now, ZERO. I am trying to arrange for a group of 20 or so friends to gather one last time before winter. I want to check signals with this place to make sure it didn't conflict with others who may be dining there. IM sent, no response Phone call several days later: put on hold for over six minutes, I hung up. Phone call again later that day, mid afternoon: was told they were busy, they took my name/ph number and said they'd return my call. 24 hrs later, still no return call. Guess they have enough business and don't need our groups $'s. That's fine, plenty of other dining places in the Lake area who will be happy to serve us. This place has poor poor business practices. Surprised they've stayed open this long. read more

Solid spot. I've been coming here with my family for years and while, I don't think its the same anymore, it's still a good spot with decent food. Yeah, the view isn't as great as some places, but it's nice that it's back in a cove where you don't have to worry about your boat getting ravaged by the waves. read more

Service was horrible, food was horrible and cold when it arrived and when the server was told he took it and put it in the microwave. First tip: watch that 18% gratuity charge, it'll get you if you have six or more in the group. Second I was with my family and the food took about an hour to recieve. On the bright side the food wasn't cold so maybe the kitchen got backed up. I ordered the burger, it came out pretty bland. After three bites I didn't really want anymore of it. Be sure to count your drinks that you order and make sure you get them, we almost got charge for a couple we ordered but didn't get in time for the check. Just to be a little more specific, another family member's burger also was bland but they were hungry so they ate it all. The servers were very kind but the actual service was quite slow after we got our drinks. Forgot to add, my brother had just pork and he said it had flavor but was dry. Backwater Jack's came highly recommended from some friends who vacation in the area regularly so we made a point to stop there for lunch. Service was slow and a group a few tables over was quite obnoxious - dropping f bombs and being generally loud. There were children in the area and it was obvious that their parents were not pleased. The rum runner and pain in the a were overpriced and a little watery. Buffalo chicken tenders were good but not good enough to salvage the total experience. I might give it a second chance but I'm not sure. read more

Not a good experience, went in as a party of 2 and was sat at a very small 2 top, did not have enough room on our table for our appetizer & friend's salad. Both of those items took up the whole table & since the waiter rushed are order our entrees came out within 5 minutes of our appetizer. I ordered Diet Pepsi it was served in an 6 or 8 ounce cup full of ice which is okay if your waiter stays close, but needless to say our waiter kept vanishing. Awful...AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!! I will never go back to this restaurant. On a recent weekend in June this year...we went here and it was a disaster from start to finish. First: when we went to park our boat...it was a long wait for a boat slip to open up. 2nd...their servers seemed over worked. Lastly, on our way out...we got to witness the owner parking his 60 foot white cruiser yacht..he was obnoxious and cussed at a customer, who was trying to park their boat also. I would AVOID...for many reasons: waits for parking, overly crowded, almost NO lakeside seating, long waits to get a drink. Strange...this is a lake side restaurant...but really... very hard to get a table with a good view of the lake. Lastly, hard to support an owner who was such a complete jerk to a customer. But really...so many more reasons to avoid than the offensive owner. There are just so many better choices, if you want a lakeside restaurant. If you want a lakeside view...this restaurant is NOT good, overly crowded, and understaffed. read more

I love this place. Grew up here and have come to Backwater's since I was a kid. Ate there this week for the first time in 5 years and everything was as great as I remembered. Must tries are the seafood quesadillas and of course the fried potato salad. We also had the nachos, seafood salad, the Cuban and the salad tossed in parm cheese an their homemade Italian dressing. All good stuff. It's in a great location, has good (but not a ton) of boat parking, big and small. Giving it 5 stars for being sentimental and for the potato salad. read more
