Kale Salad with a side of pasta salad
Varinia R.

I really wanted to like this place, but it didn't do it for me. I thought they would have more of variety of sandwiches like Upper Crust or Simple Simon's, but they don't. The sandwiches don't come with lettuce, tomatoes, or onion. And they only have swiss cheese, no other cheeses to choose from. They're also really pricey for what you get. I ended up getting a salad because I was there with a couple of friends from work and I was hungry. The salad was good, but I could have gotten the same salad for half the price. The only good thing about this place is the outdoor patio unfortunately.

The Outdoor patio was quite chill on this beautiful day.

This place feels like a hidden gem, and it seems to be family-owned. It's a quaint sandwich spot. I haven't been here in years, but nothing has changed--and that's a good thing! The food is still amazing, with sandwiches made fresh to order. The outdoor patio is super chill, especially with the charming garden decor. The staff couldn't be friendlier, and I love that they've maintained the same high-quality standards. I ordered the turkey sandwich. They didn't have avocado , but that didn't take away from the sandwich's quality. The turkey is roasted and sliced in-house with no preservatives--so fresh! My friend ordered a slice of chocolate pie , it was topped with a huge serving of whipped cream. Like a good friend, she shared some with me, and wow... it was delish! Next time I'll try one of their hot sandwiches

My husband & I live down the street from this spot. I want to say our realtor recommended we try it. I'm glad we did :) it was VERY good & good grief the portion sizes are large. I LOVE the little back patio area, it is so cute & cozy! The staff were super sweet & courteous, too. I love that we live within walking distance of this little gem.

We went to Backstreet restaurant today...fantastic food ! We were so surprised to hear a great group performing there.. What a treat..Not sure how often the have live music but it was terrific..We will definitely be going back to that restaurant..

My sister found this spot for lunch for us over the weekend. It's a cute cozy sandwhich shop with a simple menu cafeteria style and they have open patio area to sit . The food servings is great & phenomenal customer service .you can park in the street or parking lot across from the restaurant.

Had to come again because it was delicious!! I found much more seating this time and it was indoors!

I normally eat here and the ambience is amazing. sometimes I get it to go and it's just as good. The service at the restaurant is amazing as well. They're very attentive to your needs.

Ask the Community - Backstreet

Do the serve alcohol?

Yes, beer and wine.

Will this place ever be open on weekends? I have a FT M-Fri job in another city, I'll never be able to try the IE's best sandwiches at this rate ::tear::

We're planning on opening permanently on the weekends in summer 2022! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram, as we're sure to announce it there :)

Does this restaurant have a no-smoking policy for their outdoor dining area? Including conventional cigarettes and vaping?

Yes

Is this place available for outside dining during Covid?

Yes it is and that's what makes it so adorable. They have picnic tables surrounded by banana trees so it's cool even on the hottest days. I just don't feel the prices are reasonable but they do have a following.

Honestly, the line is mainly due to the customers taking their sweet time while ordering. You might have a hard time finding a table to sit at inside, but they also have outside seating. Price-wise you'll probably spend around $15-$20 per person. I highly recommend their grilled chicken sandwhich. It comes with grilled chicken, lettuce and tomato, all on a toasted sourdough bread covered with pesto and cheese. For the side I typically get the Italian pasta salad, which is always delicious. One thing about this sandwhich is that the chicken will never cover the entire bread and it will never be distributed evenly. So you will always have one half that has less chicken and ends up being part veggie pesto sandwhich, which is still worth it. The other favorite is a turkey club sandwhich on a croissant. It's basic, but also very tasty. They also carry a variety of pastries and serve Klatch coffee (brewed coffee) if you need a sweet treat afterward.

Definitely 5 stars for the breakfast Atmosphere inside is very welcoming and cute nothing fancy just an old school feel which I like Customer service 5 stars for sure. Employees have been friendly each time and they bring out food to you on the patio. Unfortunately the location is increasingly a problem at least while sitting outside. Lots of homeless people around some on drugs and some unstable. Last time I was there a homeless man threw an orange at someone who was eating next to me for no reason at all. It's not the first time something happens that feels unsafe and although there's not much the restaurant can do about it it does affect the ambience

I ordered a regular gyro pita sandwich and my husband ordered the gyro pita sandwich with added pork meat and he got it as a combo with rice and a salad. Gyro meat is spot on. Love it - not too soft and not too crispy. The taztziki sauce is so good here but you must love the garlic aftertaste as it will be in your mouth for awhile!! The pita bread is sooo soft and fresh. While driving by, I decided to stop here for a quick lunch, and I'm so glad I did. First of all, the place is impeccable. I work in cleaning services, so I notice these things right away. Everything was spotless. The ambiance is clean, welcoming, and comfortable. Service was fast, but what stood out was that the cashier still took the time, with a smile, to explain parts of the menu when we had questions. The prices are surprisingly affordable. When my mom hesitated because of the language, they made the effort to speak Spanish to make her feel comfortable, which meant a lot to us. We were served at our table, and honestly, the first bite was heavenly. I thought I already loved Greek food, but this went beyond anything I've tried before. Definitely coming back
