    Seared Tuna

I visited Folsom to see family and made patio reservations at Back Bistro to enjoy the great weather. The patio is beautiful and the staff was very helpful. I can't wait for live music that starts in May. We started with the Fish & Rice. It features three towers of sesame-seared sushi-grade Ahi tuna on crispy seasoned rice cakes. The sesame flavor took the dish over the top. The Bistro Cobb Salad was excellent, and the blue cheese made it stand out. Finally, my seared salmon was toasted to perfection. We all enjoyed the meal and the great selection of draft beer.

We had a wonderful dinner with well-made cocktails and great service. The restaurant was fairly full on a Saturday evening and we got to hang out at the bar. We got a couple shareable- the artichoke hearts were really good and the vegetarian risotto was pretty yummy too.

Stopped here for my birthday. Loved the ambiance! Warm and inviting. Was greeted as soon as I walked in. I sat at the bar while waiting for my friend. Enjoyed a glass of house Chardonnay. Friendly bartender. We were seated as soon as my friend arrived. Ordered goat cheese fritters. They are TINY. Like the size of large marbles. But delicious. We ordered the steak and blue cheese salad and the prawns and polenta meals. We mentioned we were going to share and asked for two extra plates. They said they will split up the meals for us. So nice of them! Our food was very flavorful! I'd definitely be back again. They have a great happy hour.

We come here quite often. This place is a great spot for a date night or a nice outdoor dining experience. The food is delicious, although our steak was overcooked. Their cocktails are fantastic, and they have some great bartenders. My favorite drink here is Penicillin. I've tried it at other places, but it's not to my taste. The service was just okay. We had to ask twice for water to be filled, and the appetizers came out without plates. The steak came out without a steak knife, and we had to wait for it. I was a bit disappointed because I've tried this place before and it was better.

First time ever at back bistro, and our experience was excellent. My girlfriend and I did the 2 for $59. We started with the artichoke dip and goat cheese fritters. The artichoke dip may have been the best artichoke dip I have ever had; the bread that came with it, had a hint of garlic to it as well, which was great. The goat cheese fritters were fresh - hot, creamy and full of flavor. For the entrees, the pesto pasta was fantastic, and the chicken parm was just as good. We split a bottle of Chardonnay, and finished with dessert. Our waiter Drew (who was extremely professional and helpful on every level) recommended the Triple Pot de Crème, and this right here was the best part of the night. Everything else was amazing, but the dessert was on a different tier. Easy 5 star rating, with no complaints. Come try back bistro if you haven't before

Checked this place out for lunch and it was great! Pulled pork sandwich had good bbq flavor and good combo of textures with the crispy onions. The fries are nice and crispy and the POG juice was refreshing. Great service, the waiter was very attentive. Nice restaurant, good oldies music playing, and nice seating indoors and outdoors.

We've been here a few times meeting friends for lunch and dinner. This is also a great place for dates as well. This place is upbeat and friendly. The bar area is cool. We waited about 10 minutes for them to get us seated together. Time passed quickly while in awe with the decor. ;) Our waiter was cordial and gave us recommendations on customer favorites. He brought us menus and waters while we checked out the menu and specials. Our food was tasty! The pork belly was delicious. The bacon cheeseburger was good as well. They even made my fries extra crispy and soft on the inside! YUM! My friend went for the steak, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts. My other friend enjoyed a lamb burger. Overall, a great place for good food with family and friends. Ample parking. Clean bathrooms. Excellent service and all other staff members were friendly as well. Competitive pricing and great happy hour menu.

Walking in, the whole vibe of the place and the decoration was so elegant yet comforting. Absolutely loved the interior of the place. The service was so quick and efficient, they gave us the best recommendations. The food was sooooooo good. I highly recommend the chipotle fettuccine and the s'more brownie as a dessert. Super delicious!

We came here on our anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised that everything was delicious! We shared a BBQ chicken flatbread, had a couple of happy hour drinks and then our entrees. I had a steak and blue cheese salad and my husband had the prawns polentas. We had had the 3triple layer Pot de crème layer with vanilla custard, chocolate, and sea salt. Highly recommend this place! And will come back soon! No pics of the food, we were hungry and ate before I could snap a pic, lol!

Ask the Community - Back Bistro

Are any of the desserts gluten free?? I see that they not labeled, as such, but wanted to see if anyone had experience?

I'm gf too. They have a pot de creme, a creme brulee, and an ice cream dish that are all gf. Menu may change seasonally but that's what's there last time I went.

What is the corkage fee here?

It seems that Back Bistro does rich foods very well, what's light on the menu?

The menu changes with the seasons. Being Winter right now, the menu features hardier richer food using seasonal ingredients and winter vegetables. As Spring arrives the menu gets lighter as greens, asparagus, peas and fruits come into season.… Read more

You'd be forgiven for thinking you were in the wrong place or about to make a mistake and put yourself into a sketchy place. We looked around for a more "realistic" entry way not knowing the most realistic entry way is one that looks like a back door to a closed vacuum or furniture storefront. That's exactly the point. You knock. Immediately, the door opens. A man in a cowboy hat looks you over. He doesn't wear a name tag. He doesn't need one. He asks, "You have something to say?" If you've done your homework, and say the right thing, the door stays open. You're in. I do not know what happens if you do not have the word. What follows is less a bar and more a pocket of time. The interior is small but well conceived. The bar sits directly at the entrance, flanked by a few standing guests and several small tables. Beyond that, the space opens up into a lounge with seating for six to eight, and a longer bench-style area for a dozen or so. The walls are dark, the lighting low. It's the kind of place that feels like it remembers what Prohibition was, even if most of us never lived it. It felt like walking onto a movie set where we might be extras, and the main characters would enter and play out a scene. It was a perfect example of a speak easy in full swing. Even the glassware was legitimate. The decor is intentional. Books tucked into corners. Stags mounted on the wall. Nothing feels store-bought or trendy. It's immersive without trying too hard. The seats were not overstuffed contemporary types nor were the tables or even foot stools. They all looked like they came from a speak easy back in the day. About the only thing that did not look like the real thing were the patrons, as they were dressed casually, and of course the iPhones. I suppose that would have caused quite a ruckus during prohibition! Conversations are constant, layered over each other and laughter. It gets loud, but not obnoxious. There's a rhythm to the space that holds. My suggestion is to not go at 7pm on a Saturday and hope to get a prized table, couch or seat. Now, to the drinks. House Divided serves anything you ask for, but they lean into the theme. Classic cocktails done right. Throwbacks with historical lean. Creative new entries like lavender martinis that aren't just gimmicks. Each drink feels made by someone who knows what they're doing and takes pride in the process. This is not vodka-soda speed bar territory. It's craft, and it shows. I did not see a bottle of ocean spray anywhere, but what I did see were large glass bottles labeled with the juice or concoction held within. The little details are obvious! If I were to translate my usual framework:    *   Ambiance and Service: 4 stars (it can get loud and if you are here to have a conversation it will be difficult)    *   Quality: 5 stars- I had a simple drink - vodka and cranberry. With something "special" that the tender added. I don't know what it was, but the taste was wonderful! Way different than my standard go to!    *   Value? That depends on whether you're measuring price per ounce, or the fact that you just got to walk through a green door into another world. But in reality, 5 stars. Do I wish for more seating? Yes. Perhaps more quiet? Yes. But if it were those things, would it be the same? No. My guess is going on a Saturday at 7pm is going to be a bit crowded, and loud. That's my fault, and testament to their quality. Next, I found the staff to be great! Even the doorman gave it character, cowboy hat and boots and all! Great experience!

Who doesn't love the idea of a speakeasy?? We decided to head to Roseville in pursuit of a secret place. We found the secret door, knocked, and a young man answered. He asked for the password. Unfortunately I am not on social media and that's where you're supposed to find it. Bummer! I decided to use my own password. It worked and we entered the inner sanctum. It was a cool, smallish place with nice decor. The bar was the first thing we saw. I looked around to see a few tables and couches to the left. It was pretty early and there were only a few people there so we got a cozy little table in front of a velvety couch. I went to the bar where a burly tattooed OG bartender greeted me. I ordered an old fashioned and a raspberry lemon drop. My old fashioned was done very well. I'm on an old fashioned kick right now and love to try them at different places that look like they know how to make them. This one was really good. My friend wasn't so keen on her lemon drop, saying the lavender was a bit overpowering. We had another round and this time she had something different that she enjoyed. My second old fashioned was just as good as the first. It was getting later and more people happened to have the password and it was getting crowded. We were done, paid the tab, which wasn't bad considering how most speakeasy's can be pretty pricy. Overall, it was a great experience, the place was nice, friendly, and the drinks were done well. Give it a shot. Find the password, or use your own if you dare!

She had a chill and pleasant attitude and was very efficient with our requests. Kitchen was quick to bring out my poke nachos, and our combo pizza and chicken wings came within 10 minutes. My husband had to send his lemonade back because it was carbonated, but they fixed it right away and it was perfect. The poke nachos was stacked high with crispy wonton chips and diced raw tuna with a spicy aioli sauce throughout. The buffalo chicken wings were sauced just right and still a little crispy. I heard the server tell another patron they can do bbq sauce or naked if you do not want buffalo sauce. The flatbread pizza wasn't as crispy on the bottom as I'd like (probably because of all the toppings) but the edges of the crust were good with a nice chew/crispy ratio. Overall, food was delicious, and at half off, definitely worth it, Since there were only a few patrons in the restaurant at the time, it was fairly quiet, but I've been when it's packed, loud, and lively. Iron Horse Tavern is always a good choice for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and especially for Happy Hour!

Thus cheered, we were seated quickly, even though we arrived without a reservation. Water, bread and menus came quickly. Perusing them to the background mix of contemporary mellow pop (think James Taylor and Van Morrison) and old standards, we decided on the petite prime rib for the carnivore (me) and sea scallops served over risotto for my wife. We each chose flights of wine to accompany our entrees. Despite including three wines per flight, the pours were fairly generous. Our dishes were perfectly prepared and came out more quickly than we expected, considering that the place was almost full. Our server checked back just enough and took care of any special requests promptly, even offering to exchange one of the wines (out of six!) that we didn't like for something better suited to our taste. The pace was leisurely which was fine given the good food and wine accompanied by the relaxed vibe of the live music.
