Gears are back to shifting smoothly and they cleaned it well so it is like new. They even added new tape to the handlebars. Very happy with the service and will continue coming back! Once they previously helped me install some pedals I bought there for free. Just above and beyond what you get at other local bike shops I've been to sometimes.

I asked if they could use my current tube, which was not damaged, in the new tire. They said they had to use their own tube in the new tire which is very fair. The new tube even comes included in the labor cost of changing the tire. However, I wish they asked me if I wanted my old tube back before discarding it, as many bike shops do. I can excuse this if the tube was punctured, but it wasn't. I could have used that as a spare tube or something. Tubes are around $10 so not a huge deal but that would've been nice. I also wished they asked me if I preferred a certain tire pressure before inflating my tire to an arbitrary PSI. Sure, some people don't have a preferred pressure, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Especially if someone is purchasing a $100+ tire. Again, not a huge deal as I can just change it at home but would've been nice. Overall, still a good experience.

I love bike riding, but I can't pretend to know the ins and outs behind the mechanics of a bike, and this is why this shop is perfect. I have not only gotten countless tune ups, but they have identified and fixed problems for me that my dumb a$$ would've thought would cost a 100 dollars, and they charge 13 bucks and it's done within hours- sometimes minutes. As you can see by the other reviews, this is a GREAT neighborhood business, with salt of the earth employees. The people that gave one or two stars, don't pick up on social cues like sarcasm, or are not from Chicago and don't understand our banter is meant as endearment.

The owner recommended a basic assessment first since this was a bike I just got from a friend. With the assessment he filled my tires, checked for leaks, adjusted my pedal and handlebar tightness, and oiled my chain up. He also taught me how to shift gears and pointed out my bracks were switched (right hand controlled front). In the end he also lowered my seat for a better fit. The assessment was great at ensuring my bike was ride ready and not dangerous. He also recommended what would be good follow up and pricing if I wanted a more thorough tuning for problem areas that he showed me during the assessment but wasn't pushy about it. I was back home with my bike before in under 30mins. Great price transparency. Owner had great knowledge of bikes and brands. Also has free automatic tire pump and recommended I drop by every 1-2wks to keep my tires plump. I'm excited to get back to riding with this new bike!

The price is pretty reasonable, especially for 2 pests, and not overcharged as other companies. It comes with 2 visits, 2 weeks apart from the first. However, the on site experience was not as great as mentioned. Technician came, went to spraying right away, and it felt like he was in a rush. Did not really check what might be the cause of the infestation (would not be an easy thing to investigate, but we did not really see the effort to find the cause). We see a great reduced number of ants, but still see a few lingering around, not as concerned number as before, but we feeling better about the ants. Also, 2 weeks after the second treatment we keep seeing silverfish back even after the treatment and trap was applied (they mentioned the number might increase the following week/10 days after treatment due to them trying to leave the premises, or longer since the treatment is pet/child safe product and it might take a bit to work). After the 2 visits, extra visit/treatment will cost extra, even with some pests coming back. - Giving a 5 stars still since they gave me a full refund due to my dissatisfaction with the service on site. Treatment did not do as well to the my pests situation, but great customer priority, owning up to their words, and honesty overall.

My friend and I were impressive by the positive atmosphere when we walked in and immediately were greeted by the owner of the shop. One thing I really like about this owner is that not only he's super friendly and very insightful, he didn't try to low-ball us into buying something we didn't need like the previous store we went to. Going straight into business, he professionally inspected my friend's bike and told him he can do a tune-up as low as 60 bucks, which was half the price that Kozy's Cyclery would charge. And best of all we were there in and out with no hassles at all. I really hope in the future that more people are aware of this bike store for their awesome services, great prices, and no low-balling crap like Kozys Cyclery. We will definitely come back for future maintenance and we look forward to the bike-a-thon you guys will be hosting every Sunday. Stay awesome Bacardi Bikes! read more

Bacardi is a breath a fresh air in our community. Conveniently located just down the street from the cesspool that is Kozy's Cyclery, Bacardi's is your quintessential Mom-and-Pop shop with excellent customer service, fair prices, and a pleasant, feels-like-home atmosphere. As I had suspected, my bike was not in need of a new tire, but rather a spoke replacement and some general maintenance, all of which would run me around $65 (instead of the $120 that Kozy's tried to rob me of). I was taken care of by Matt, who told me that he had heard many horror stories of the bike snobbery at Kozy's, which to quote him, "has been going on for years and is such a shame." With one quick glance at my bike, Matt sized-up all the fixes I needed and told me he could have everything ready by the next day. I also learned that Bacardi's offers a variety of bikes for rent at good rates, as well as invests in the local scene by having weekly bike rides on Sunday. There's a wonderfully humble and professional staff at Bacardi's, and I had such a good experience there that I shook Matt's hand before leaving. This is how biking should be--inclusive, accessible, fun. Thanks again guys, you've got a customer for life! read more

Wheel, etc. Guys says it needs bearings adjusted and all this other stuff and he doesn't have a rack, etc. (which I doubt - from factory in box my guess is that's all good to go, but I'm not Greg Lemond.) So, these e-bikes you sell come assembled? Or does someone ride them to you and then they get driven back home. And, I guess you can't service these e-bikes that you sell? This is how big boxes like Dick's bury century old shops. Which is sad.

Rudy's is a really good one. Took my custom road bike in for a tuneup once and they treated it like it was their own. The mechanic even asked if he could take it for a ride - he really loved it. (It's a vintage bike and quite spectacular if I do say so myself!). Even with vintage components they were able to work their magic and get it into perfect shape for another season of riding. When my wife's bike got stolen in broad daylight (it was locked and secured with a thick cable), we went right to Rudy's to buy a replacement. When they heard the story, they informed us that there is a national database of bikes listed as stolen. They offered to enter the serial number and picture (which we had) into the database should the bike ever be brought in to any participating dealer for service. Nothing has turned up but it's nice to know that such a resource exists. Every time I've been in there the people are friendly and the service is first rate. You can tell they really enjoy bikes and people who ride. Great place. My favorite bike shop in Chicago.

No proof of this "policy" provided, just flat out refusal. The receipt doesn't list a return policy and the website's "Store Policies" link is broken. When I pushed back, the owner sneered, gave me a big, fake smile, and dismissively told me to "go sell them on Marketplace." I never write Yelp reviews, but this guy was immediately hostile and incredibly rude. When I flagged that as a problem, he said he gets that a lot. With all the amazing bike shops in town (staff at Wheels and Sprocket and Bike Fix are excellent and polite), this guy doesn't deserve any business. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.
