If there's one thing that you will find when living in the keys, is that there is a lack of legitimate coffee houses. I guess it must be the water-centric culture that just doesn't call for the dark, moody, urban coffee houses that I long for. Enter Baby's Coffee, a little gem in its own right. Great variety of house coffees and plenty of cookies, sweets, souvenirs and, yes, water and teas for the non-coffee crowd. I love hitting up a cup of brew (with my own travel mug in hand) when I head down to work. If you don't provide your own vessel, they'll set you up with a foam cup. Foam cup coffee doesn't do Baby's justice. Bring your own or buy one. Another plus is the clean bathroom. Please keep it nice when you visit, it's a bonus on the road. The points that knocked a star off of this review are the lack of seats for homework time and the fact that they close at 6pm during the week. Boo. Didn't realized this till today when I looked at receipt. I asked master roaster if I could taste the coffee (a zip) before purchase as I never had baby's coffee diff coffee taste diff stronger, bitter, acidity, etc. He pointed to the cups so I tried 3 diff blend at most 1/3 cup combined of all 3. I understand some people might say hey can I try coffee and get a full cup but dont buy anything. Think they should be more lenient to actual purchasers of coffee. driving back to miami from key west i knew i had to make one more stop. in my opinion, no key west trip is complete without a stop at baby's coffee. baby's one eerie eye haunts my dreams, in a good way. it all started in college. i had a roommate from key west that had this strange mug with one weird wired looking eye on it. every time i saw that eye, i felt compelled to drink some coffee. strangely, i never asked what the deal with the mug was or the eye. then one day after she had spent a weekend back home in key west, i went to open the fridge and there was that eye starring at me. this time it was on a bag of fresh roasted 'baby's private buzz' and that was the start of it all. baby's is the southernmost coffee roasters in the u.s., but really, who gives a shit about that? what you should care about is how effing good their roasted beans are. there's a reason that both tourists and locals love baby's. you'll even find it in many of the restaurants in key west (ie. blue heaven, seven fish). and on a side note... i like their little frozen key lime pies here better than the blonde giraffe. and if you enjoy key lime pies or know blonde giraffe's reputation, then you know how ballsy that statement is. *or maybe it's just that evil eye hypnotizing me to think their coffees amazing. read more

What a confusing stop to get coffee! I asked for a quad shot ice latte and the man at the counter argued with me and said "So, you want an eight shot latte." We went back and forth over this because I wanted four shots and he insisted their machine pulled four for every latte. I finally went with it. They have oat milk, which was nice, but it split instantly. The shots were bitter. My husband got an iced coffee which was oily and heavy. We threw out both after we got back to Key West. Place seems more like a tourist stop than a spot for coffee. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Highly recommended we stopped in with high expectations. I will preface this by saying the coffee and tea was really good however the lady behind the register was rude and miserable. My 72 year old mother pulled down her mask for a second to scratch her nose and this miserable woman yelled at her unnecessarily. Meanwhile, there is a crowd of people inside, not an inch between anyone, crammed in a small area. So allowing that and then yelling at my mother for scratching her nose is ridiculous. We stopped in on the off chance as we headed into Key West and were very pleasantly surprised. Coffee was great and plenty of blends to choose from. Atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Carrot cake was fantastic, so much so we stopped in again on our way out to grab some more. The breakfast blend coffee was flying off the shelf and I'm glad we brought some home despite the limited space on our bike. They also had a small bookshelf with donated books and a charity pot if you found one you liked, which I thought was a great idea. Everything from T-shirts to wine, chocolates to mugs and lots more besides. Well worth a visit whether you're local or just passing through. read more

A rare but well deserved 5 Star review from this guy. Stumbled on to this little coffee roaster while visiting The Keys and my oh my am I a lucky guy! The best coffee I've had in years. Bought three bags of the Baby's Breakfast Roast and now that I'm a long way away and running low on the brew, wish I had purchase three more bags. I have loved baby's coffee since the first time I found the place. they are coffee roasters and their coffee is exceptional they also carry some interesting food and bakery items that they make themselves there's always something interesting to eat the wait staff is extremely friendly the coffee is exceptional. they have coffee for sale that they will grind for you they have an interesting selection of gifts and crafts and mugs and that sort of stuff. They sell snacks, clothes, souvenirs, and all kinds of stuff. It's very authentic and I think very nice that they have cafe con leche.
