Huge thank you to Babbo's Pizza that fed three of our club soccer teams and their families while we at the annual Hershey Cup this year! I called a week early to discuss and they assured me it would be no problem. Ordering 22 pizzas, 18 tenders and fried, and 29 salads I assuming something wouldn't be right and wow I was wrong! They nailed the order and the fabulous staff helped me load my car so nothing would slide or spill. Everyone enjoyed the food, nothing was missed and not a single complaint. We look forward to going back next year :-)

Given the festival atmosphere happening nearby, I expected crowds. Instead, I walked in and had the place entirely to myself. Fantastic! The woman working the counter greeted me right away and had exactly the kind of friendly-but-slightly-snarky personality that I absolutely adore. She made ordering fun without overdoing it, which immediately scored points in my book. After looking over the menu, I kept things relatively simple and ordered a chili cheese dog with onions, no bun, served on a bed of French fries, plus a can of Diet Coke. Total damage: $10.07. When she asked if I wanted the hot dog cut up before everything was assembled together, I enthusiastically accepted. Someone who understands that sometimes food is supposed to be a glorious mess is my kind of person! While waiting for my food, I took a look around. Future visitors should know that indoor seating is extremely limited. There's one high-top table just inside the door and about six barstools along the counter. However, that's not really where this place shines. Outside, there are several picnic tables, plus a beautiful covered side porch with another six to eight tables. If the weather is nice, absolutely plan to eat outside. If the weather isn't cooperating, I'd probably recommend takeout. A few minutes later, my masterpiece was ready. I grabbed my food and drink and headed straight for the covered porch. It was approximately 92 degrees outside with a heat advisory in effect, which most reasonable people would consider a terrible time for an outdoor picnic. I am apparently not most reasonable people. The meal was exactly what I hoped it would be. The chili deserves special recognition because it was actual chili, not the mysterious meat sauce that sometimes masquerades as chili on hot dogs. This stuff had real texture, generous chunks of ground meat, and just enough spice to keep things interesting without setting your face on fire. The diced onions were plentiful, the cheese was perfectly melted, and everything was assembled exactly the way I requested. It was messy. It was delicious. It was absolutely worth eating with a fork. For my first visit, this was a solid win. The food was good, the staff were great, the prices were reasonable and the porch made for a perfect place to sit and enjoy a summer evening. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu! Stumpy's offers several specialty dogs that caught my attention, but I wasn't quite brave enough to try their Strawberry Dog during Strawberry Jam. Maybe next year. Maybe.

I've driven by Joy's a million times and somehow never noticed it before. It's tucked into a busy strip mall and easy to miss if you're not specifically looking for it. Spoiler alert: you should be looking for it. My quest for the evening included both a burger and a chili dog, because they both looked amazing and I wanted the full Joy's experience. My adventure buddy and I arrived around 5pm and I was honestly surprised to see only one other person inside when we walked in. We grabbed a booth by the front door and looked over the menu again to finalize our plan. Since it was our first visit, we decided to order a few things and split them so we could try more. We ordered the loaded chili dog topped with chili, cheese, onions, and mustard ($5.25) and one of the Big Block Burgers -- specifically the Joy's Burger -- which came with grilled onions and mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, LA sauce, Swiss cheese, and fresh cut fries ($12.99). Naturally we added bacon for an extra $0.99 because that felt like the right decision. We also each grabbed a Diet Pepsi (to maintain some illusion of balance) for $2.50 each. Our total came to $25.69 before tip, which felt like a pretty solid deal for a two-person Friday night dinner adventure. The setup at Joy's has a classic old-school diner feel. The grill sits right behind the seating counter so you can watch your food being made, and they mix milkshakes right out front as well. The place is simple and no-frills -- and in my experience, those "keep it simple and do it well" places are often the real heavy hitters. The chili dog came out first, and the first thing I noticed was that this thing was HEAVY. This wasn't your typical skinny hot dog -- it was a full ¼-pound dog absolutely loaded with chili. The flavor reminded me of a Cincinnati-style chili dog and it was really good. The chili was flavorful instead of just decorative, the mustard and onions were balanced perfectly, and the bun did its job without getting in the way. As someone who takes chili dogs very seriously, I have to give Joy's credit for delivering a straightforward, perfectly executed chili dog. Next came the burger and fresh cut fries, and when I say this burger was big, I mean BIG. Two patties tall with all the toppings stacked high. We sliced it in half and immediately dug in. The bacon was perfectly crisp, the mushrooms and Swiss were generous, and the whole thing just tasted like a real, proper burger. Not a chain burger that started life frozen and tastes like it could have been reheated in my microwave at home. This was the kind of burger you picture when you say you're craving a burger. The fries were exactly what you want from fresh-cut fries -- the smaller ones nice and crispy, and the bigger ones crispy on the outside with that soft, fluffy inside. Splitting the chili dog and burger turned out to be the right call. It would have been easy to eat everything solo, but my stomach probably would not have forgiven me later. Our server was super friendly and attentive throughout the visit. While we were there, a few more people came in to eat, but overall it felt relaxed and easy for a Friday evening. Parking is free since Joy's sits in a strip mall, but it can be a little tight because there are several other popular businesses nearby. We were able to find a spot without trouble, but I could see it getting tricky during busier times. If you're looking for solid burgers, legit chili dogs, and an old-school diner vibe, Joy's Grill & Burger House is absolutely worth seeking out -- especially if you're like me and always on the lookout for your next great burger or chili dog adventure.

I can't tell you how many times that medium is what I usually get when requesting medium-rare at restaurants. There's a big difference between the two in terms of internal temperature, center color, and texture. This place knows how to properly cook a medium-rare burger, and for me, that's a sign of quality and sets it apart. The sidewinder fries are fab as are the homemade potato chips and either comes with burgers. The dressing on the coleslaw needs some seasoning, but the slaw itself is fresh and crunchy. The Maryland crab soup is pretty slammin', too. I favor the back dining room, not the bar (in front). These 2 areas have different vibes. The back room feels like the way a burger joint should be. The bar is, well, more bar-ish. One of the servers, Brody, provides exceptional service--a shout out to him. This establishment's name is playful and clearly informs the customer as to what their specialty is: hamburgers. I bought one of their T-shirts, perhaps that says it all.

I hadn't eaten since breakfast so I was wildly ready for this meal. But nothing prepared me for what I saw when they called my name when my order was ready... I stuck my fork into the fries first, golden brown and smothered in bacon and cheese. The second my fork broke the surface, clouds of steam rose off, as they were piping hot. The burger, nestled in a half rap of chef's paper, screamed at me the dive into, which I did immediately. A few minutes and a few pictures in, I questioned whether I could finish everything but as you can see from the final photograph it was really never in question. ANYTHING. I asked dad what he wanted for dinner. "Hamburgers". Ok, I'm on it. I opened up my Uber Eats app and looked for hamburger joints with good ratings - that's how we got to Mrbeast Burger. Mrbeast is a unique concept restaurant - it's usually delivery only (though some offer pickup) and is often a "ghost" kitchen - a to-go restaurant inside of another restaurant. I know, confusing, don't worry, not important. The menu is limited to burgers, a couple of chicken tender sandwiches, a lone grilled cheese, crinkle fries and bottled sodas. I ordered two Beast style burgers , one Chandler style burger and fries all around. I scheduled our order ahead of time and had it in my hand right on time. The burgers were fresh and hot. The fries were hot but soggy due to the condensation in the box they were packaged in. The beast burger is two smash patties, ketchup, mayo, brown mustard, raw onion, pickles and cheese. The chandler is pretty basic - two burgers and American cheese. You can add a variety of sauces and toppings for an upcharge. (Ketchup was 30 cents - I pulled the bottle out of the fridge for free). The burgers were large, fresh and juicy, the cheese melted perfectly and the toppings added in just the right amount. They really were delicious. The fries, like I said, were soggy. Maybe different packaging could solve this problem. Either way, three fries were too much for three people. You already know that when you order Uber Eats, you are going to pay a premium when you consider delivery, fees and tip. Ordering delivery directly from the Mrbeast website was actually a little higher still. When everything was done, our dinner was over $50 - quite a lot for a burger and fries. But then, not dragging my 80+ year old parents, with her walker and his cane, out to a restaurant is almost priceless. Dad is pretty savvy with technology, I'm confident he will now start ordering out all of the time. I may have created a beast!
