Well, would you look at that... it's been a few years, and here I am again chasing a good…read moreChicago-style hot dog! The first thing I noticed was the bun. Wait a minute... shouldn't it have poppy seeds, not sesame seeds? As a Chicagoan, we notice these things! That said, it was still a really good hot dog, and I definitely enjoyed it. This place may be small, but don't let the size fool you--it's worth the stop. Yes, prices have gone up (what hasn't these days?), but the specials are still a great value. The employees were friendly, the food came out fresh, and the fries are still my favorite. Crispy, hot, and exactly what I was craving. If you're looking for a solid Chicago-style hot dog and some great fries, give this place a try. You just might find yourself coming back... just like I did!

Lots of flashing lights and the space is pretty small. There were only a few two-tops but we were the only ones there so we ate inside. Ordered the cheesesteaks the way they make 'em. The bread tasted fresh and the filling was flavorful. Got the plain fries and they came out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Ordered our son a slice of pepperoni pizza and it was gigantic. Took a couple bites. Not the best pizza I ever had but something about it was nostalgic and I enjoyed it. It could have used a few more pepperoni slices. Also, they sprinkled a generous amount of Italian seasoning on top and my toddler was *very* weird about it so, if you have a picky kid, ask them to hold the seasoning. All the food came out piping hot. Got the Baby Lemonade (the green one) and it was refreshing and sweet. Menu is huuuge. Talked to another customer and he said "Everything is good," though he was getting the catfish that day and pointed out the burgers as well. Looking forward to another cheesesteak and maybe something new next time we're driving back to Texas from Chicago, though we'll probably take it to go.

Typical with urban fast food chains, it's at times "hit or miss" and like Harold's Chicken, it all depends on who is in the kitchen and their expertise. This J&J consistently gets it right. I get wings and fish-jack salmon/whiting and perch and cat at times, and it's cooked right, flavorful but you must ask for heavy lemon pepper if desired. They are lenient with the mild sauce and slaw, and cashier and cook staff are pleasant, knowing me by face and they speak and smile kindly. Hate to bring race into it, but other joints don't tend to appreciate the African American culture when they are Arab or Palestinian but this location, I don't get that voice be. Highly recommend!
