Normally Fried Chicken restaurants have mean and rude cahiers that roll their eyes at you, but the cashiers here did seem to have some manners. The chicken was cooked fresh, seasoned well, and it was good! On the other hand, the Mild Sauce was watery and lacked flavor. It was a turn off. The fries were ample. The coleslaw side is very small. However just because the name changed their recipe for chicken didn't. They still use the Harold's recipe including the mild sauce. The location on 87th & Kedzie is my go to and my go to meal is either the 1/4 white fried hard with salt, pepper & mild sauce on the side or the 5 wings fried hard with salt, pepper & mild sauce on the side. Their chicken is always fresh and tasty. They're a bit on the pricey side but the chicken is well worth it. The service while friendly, is very slow which is why this review got only 4 stars. Even if you call your food in ahead of time you still have to wait a good 15 to 20 minutes when you get there. Other than working on their time management skills I have no complaints or gripes with Chicago Chicken Coop. I actually frequent their establishment more than I do Harold's chicken. It's February 1, 2020, and I've been trying to place an order. The phone just rings and rings. No one bothers to pick up the phone. After so many rings, you get a fax machine tone. I've called seven times tonight, we're going to Popeye's now. I'm sure I'm not the only customer who has experienced this. You would think they would hire a call taker for phone orders, and to help with the volume of customers on the weekend. Seems this establishment is not run efficiently, and could be making a lot more money with another employee or two.
