My wife and I had been dying to try this place. Great reviews and even the mayor and a trustee raved about it. So we finally got there and we were both disappointed. The place is difficult to get into the parking lot. Crazy three way intersection and a really tight parking lot. Once inside the place is supper small and very difficult to even stand inside. They are really busy with tons of business though. The service was friendly and professional once you could get their attention to place your order. I had the small shrimp dinner with mashed potato's. The shrimp were small, I thought small meant quantity. The shrimp were soggy and not tasty at all. The mashed potato's were good. My wife had 4 chicken strips with mashed potato's. Her chicken was over cooked and dry. The order took way to long to get. And I actually took the wrong order first and had to turn around to bring it back. The order process is chaotic and the experience was stressful. Sorry, but we will never be back. read more

Stopped by this little corner restaurant and picked up two small fried shrimp dinner for take out and it was pretty good! Shrimp was a good size and not your average tiny shrimp. I got 5 decent size shrimp, wedges that was crisp and delicious and it also come with a small container of Cole slaw and a dinner roll and some cocktail sauce. Everything was great. When I call and I am met with "what exactly do you want to order because we can't make xyz today" I should have hung up and gone elsewhere for chicken. This place is the greatest. I used to stop here for lunch and was never disappointed. The chicken and fries were always hot and delicious. The customer service was great as well. I told my husband about Hienie's and he and I went. He really loved the shrimp as well as the chicken. I have been eating Hienies chicken for a few years now and I love that you can order just whole chicken wings that are fried. They are the best. The mashed potatoes and gravy are really good and the potato wedges are out of this world. I normally will not eat potato wedges I will eat there. They have a great variety on their menu so you can try chicken amongst other things. We've also had their fish and the shrimp and it's good. I'm not too crazy about the chicken chunks, but I don't like anybody's chicken chunks. They've been around for a long time and the taste stays consistent. When you call, the people are really nice. Cheddar cubes potato salad double baked potato all good. Although I do add a little butter to the double baked. Baked beans were good but not sure they are homemade. It does not specify. I am going to order a motion for a divorce from Hienies McCarthy for irreconcilable differences after this Tuesday's experience of ordering an 8 whole wing dinner to go. Just look at the pics! They show deformed wings, incomplete wings, and partial wings. And if you count what they gave me, this was supposed to equal 8 whole wings. Really??? Since when did your quality of food go down the tubes so fast??? When you give out a bad product after you've received good money over a long period of time that illustrates that you don't care anything about the customer, which so happens to be me. I had the Tuesday special which is a three piece tender for $4.00. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I did enjoy the mild sauce. It was different, but still very good. I also ordered a medium size fry. I will definitely be back to try their lunch specials and the cheese cubes. Service was great. They have a small parking lot. read more

Long story short, pretty much everything you want out of fried chicken: easy to eat, inexpensive, and greasy! I had the three-piece chicken meal with 2 sides for $6.50. That's a pretty good deal, if you ask me. The chicken was crispy and fresh. It didn't have a ton of flavor in the breading or in the meat itself, but deep frying atones for a multitude of sins, and for the price, who the heck can really complain? Even though I'm now an employed 30-year-old, the poor college kid in me was in heaven! For sides, I got the pasta salad and the macaroni salad. I highly recommend the pasta salad--lightly dressed, and really fresh tasting. I wasn't a huge fan of the macaroni salad, which was drowning in a mustard and mayonnaise heavy sauce. Some complains have been the wait time but that's because they are always really busy. I'd rather wait 15 to 20 minutes for their food than sit in line at any fast food restaurant. This is our go-to chicken place in Orland Park/Tinley Park. Now there are a lot of fried chicken places in the area and many of them are very good, but Hienie's does stand out. Their specialty to me are the fried chicken wings. They serve up a whole wing, not just the two pieces most places cut a wing into. The rest of the chicken is uniformly great also. The breading is not too thick, just enough to add a great taste ... and the seasoning on same is wonderful. We also like the potato wedges: thick strips of potato cooked just perfectly and ready for the Hienie's dip ... which has a bit of horseradish in it for kicks. Now the other sides of biscuits, potato salad, and baked beans are ok, but you have to remember this is a fried chicken place and that is what they do 5 stars ... fried chicken. The storefront is a small place - maybe three booths inside. This is really a takeout place, and they do that wonderfully. They also have delivery which helps during these pandemic times - and delivery works very well. On Draft Day for our Fantasy Football gang we order 50 chicken wings, and that gets us started off perfectly. Hienie's is located just across the street from the Orland Park Metra station, so you can order on the way home and pick it up when you arrive. Recommended. read more

I've been eating Heinies McCarthy chicken for 40 years. A month ago I ordered for delivery and they forgot the coleslaw. This was the second time they done that. Then last week we ordered for pick up Decatur a party they forgot to put in all of the sauces that we ordered and they Only gave us 1 pound of coleslaw when we order 2 pounds then when we called, they said that the containers are 1 pound each and when we weighed them on a food scale, they were only a half a pound each and they didn't even look like a pound containers. Then they said we can come and pick up the missing items. But while we're trying to entertain for a party. We didn't feel like driving all around again to do all this so I'm not sure what's going on with this place but it seems to be very consistent that there's errors in our order And I'm very disappointed. The chicken when ordered from this establishment is consistently greasy, it's generally soaked in grease which means the grease that the chicken is fried In is the wrong temperature. I ordered the Mac and cheese and was totally disappointed it tasted and appeared to be Kraft Mac and Cheese. I called to order a small order of chicken for the next day and was told they were busy and to call back later, when I did call back they told me they weren't taking any more orders for the next day. I've been listening to people rave about this place for years. This was officially my 3rd time trying them. I just picked up a 4 piece chicken dinner with potato wedges. On my way home from work at 5:30 pm. I only live 5 minutes away. My chicken AND my potatoes are barely lukewarm. They've clearly been sitting under a heat lamp. I was shocked when I saw how small the tray carrying the chicken was, and even more shocked when I opened the lid and saw the smallest pieces of chicken.
