** The Kindest Staff ** ** Chill Atmosphere ** I've passed Sal's Philly a thousand times heading to XC but was always too full to try it out, that ended today! I had the pleasure of walking into a place where the people working may have been some of the kindest I've met in a long time. I don't want to go into too much detail but they really seem to care about their customers. The Philly Cheese Steak was delicious! Not perfect, little over cooked, but definitely better than most. Ordered 6 wings dinner-fried hard with lemon pepper seasoning. It came with thick cut fries and Texas toast style garlic bread and a choice of hot sauce/bbq sauce. Food was hot and tasted fresh. Price was reasonable-about 10 bucks. Service was friendly. The guy taking orders provided a menu and told me I could call the order in ahead of time so I wouldn't have to sit & wait long (about 20 minutes) if I didn't want to and he explained the wait is because they cook the food fresh to order. My son wanted some chicken wings and found this place so we headed out and ordered a pan of wings. They have multiple different flavors for the wings and dipping sauces. We ordered a 30 piece and it didn't take that long the service was good and the employees were friendly. Once we got in the car the wings smelled fire. And here we are again. Sal no longer owns this place. It has been bought out by Wingz It Iz. Sandwiches still taste good but we have been spoiled by Sal and when we asked for things like extra meat and sauce, he hooked us up. The sandwiches I got today had no extra meat and if if they did, you wouldn't know. Sal packed the container with fries and today, there was only a handful. I will get a sandwich again but will most likely go back for wings. The prices for them are pretty good compared to most. read more

Came in on a Tuesday, only one person working. It was a group of us so it look a while to get our food. The food was hot, fresh.. good quick bite. The guy working was super overwhelmed when five of us came in but he took all of our orders then started cooking. I didn't like that I couldn't use cash that day but it's fine. Sal's is the best Philly around! Sal and his wife are so nice. They make you feel like family when you walk in the door. The Philly Cheesesteak is by far my favorite. We've been going to Sal's for years at his other locations, this is his best one because it is run by him & everything is cooked by him. We just recently had a large work order & everything was perfectly wrapped, hot after being transported 15 min & everyone loved it! Our fav is his Philly cheesesteaks, quite a few people said they never had one so good as his! Everything is cooked fresh to order & you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is terrible! I order a pizza puff, Italian beef and fries. my receipt time stamped my order 12:32. Waited 30 min for my food. When I asked the owner why the customer who ordered after was getting their food before me, he decided to stare me down and then said it was cooking. I know I was a little hangry, but then he gave me cold fries, a dry beef and I just threw the pizza puff away. take my advice. not worth the wait or the $25.00 it cost. what happen to this place? read more

I love this spot, I would recommend the philly cheese steak made with grilled onions and green peppers topped off with cheese and the seasoned fries are a great combo with it. Love the free BBQ sauce I use it for my fridip. Not to mention the staff and owner were very nice and welcoming in the store. Definitely a spot I will visit more often read more

New favorite in Hickory Hills. Must try delicious Philly Steak sandwiches with perfectly chopped steak, green peppers, onions and perfectly melted mozzarella cheese on a yummy bun. On my last visit I had Gyros and it was deliciously tasty as well. Portions are generous and very well priced. This place is very clean and has good amount of parking available. We pulled into the lot with the intention of grabbing a couple of Subway sandwiches, when my husband noticed the "specials" signs in Sal's windows. We decided to give Philly steak sandwiches a try. Glad we did! Their classic philly cheese sandwich includes the beef and cheese, plus green peppers and onions, all deliciously mixed together in a finely-chopped blend. The Turano bread was fresh and soft. The sandwiches were tasty, and the fine chop of the meat made it easy to eat, as well. They have daily specials, including Kronos gyros. I usually don't write reviews unless the service is really bad or the food is not editable. However, I feel that I need to take the time and give this restaurant owner a BIG thumbs up! Every time I order from them the food is exceptionally great! They have quality food and the place is impeccably clean. Always greeted kindly and will always alter your order to your likings. Can't say enough about their menu. Try it all, you won't be disappointed. And I highly recommend a Philly steak on light garlic bread! It's the BEST! read more

Open till 8? It's 7:25 sign is illuminated open door is locked. This is not my first attempt. Last time I went it was 3:30. Closed. If you got food here you must be the right nationality. My son in law has tried several times and door is locked. Wonder why hickory hills police hasn't figured out this is a money laundering front? read more

Food there to me is always delicious. However, the place itself is small, so was disappointing to see how many people were there eating in such a small, packed area while you were picking up your food, during these times as there was no separation at all. Also, I saw customers there ordering, and waiting for their food that were not wearing a mask (notice they were not eating, but simply ordering), as well as some employees did not either. Would've thought they'd worry about the safety of others and enforce these rules that every other restaurant has enforced. Hopefully they can do better read more

There was only one table seated when I got there and the hostess said to take my pick. Despite stating several things clearly, she would do things that weren't in alignment with what we were talking about. For instance I said I was interested in the chocolate cake for desert... I asked if they had that and said she wasn't sure. Then at the end of my meal I asked again and she went to check for like 12 mins and came back and said they are out. A good server would have checked earlier. This is just a tiny example of the dozen things she didn't do well. Also the pricing is REALLY expensive in my opinion and they add on an extra management fee (I think it is like 3% and optional and you can look like a jerk to ask them to remove it). This fee is to help keep their already expensive prices down. I think it is tacky to slip this on the bill without telling you. This place used to be better as Louies Chop House. It had a warmth to it and great food and better prices. I know meats are expensive these days, so maybe they should consider something like a sirloin on the menu that is more affordable. The fact that the place was empty (except the bar) basically is a clear sign that whatever they are doing isn't working.
